HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:

Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

Hi all and welcome to the Downsizers October team chat! My name is Linda and I am one of the team captains. My counterpart is the amazing Megan aka @Megan_smartiepants1970.
I am originally from Newfoundland but I live in Southwestern Ontario. I am 57 years old, married, retired due to a disability and have 3 adult children. I also have 3 beautiful granddaughters and will have another one come early November. Hayley and Norah live in Ontario but little Stella lives in Scotland. I am hoping to make a trip to Scotland this fall/early winter. My granddaughters are one of my reasons for trying to get healthy. I want to see thenpm grow up and maybe meet some great grandchildren. I have two fat cats, Nick and Lady.
I struggled with my weight since the birth of my son 35 years ago. So I have been overweight most of my adult life. I started my weight loss journey in February 2019 and have been with F2F ever since. I have had a couple of ups and downs since starting my journey but I never gave up. As of today, I have lost 64 pounds. I am losing weight slowly and I am ok with that. I have a bad back and neuropathy so my exercise choices are limited. My main form of exercise is swimming and workouts in the pool. I am looking forward to this month. After vacation for part of September, I am ready to get into a routine. I am lowering my zone minutes goal as last months was very unrealistic.
October goals
1. 5000 steps daily
2. 500 zone minutes weekly
3. Stay with in daily calorie goal
4. Track accurately
5. Reach 80 laps by end month

Hi,
I’m Deb. A soon to be 58 y.o., 5’7” divorced female living in Iowa. I am also a kidney/ pancreas transplant recipient with a prosthetic eye and my last 3 labs show that I have improved to stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Started changing my life on March 8, 2020 when covid was diagnosed within an hour of my home. Weight and exercise were the only factors that I could improve to lessen poor outcome if I got Covid.
I have used mfp to determine calories and deficits. Still read the stickies in the forums. They are filled with great advice. I have worked on choosing how I react to stresses and building healthy habits. I strive for consistency but not perfection. Try to learn from mistakes and develop new strategies to keep from repeating the same ones often.
As of yesterday, I am down 86 pounds and close to goal. Have been sedentary since April so deficit is 0.5 lbs/wk. Water weight fluctuations hide the loss most weeks but long term trend has me losing weight. Am looking forward to being able to resume activities and upping calories. Use CICO and unable to digest dairy so dairy free. Otherwise nothing special.
Wishing everyone success on their health and fitness journey.6 -

The little things add up, lol. The bulk of yesterday was dancing around like a fool for Hubs, dog and cat for 2+ hrs. Hubs had earphones in... Dog and cat wandered in and out of the room!! As I have stated before, I might look like a fool; but, I'm a very happy and healthy one. I'll run/walk in place in public and do wall/counter pushups, etc. You'd be surprised at the the opportunities that present for moving more throughout the day. Of coursed there is planned exercise. I just have a "take no prisoners" attitude when it comes to movement. Squats in public are an absolute NO for me, however!!😳🤣🤣4 -

One thing I do at home is fold one item of laundry at a time and walk to put it away. It adds up. Same when putting groceries away. If I have 3 things of coffee for example, I bring one at a time to the storage room.4 -
We are going to start our mini team challenges tomorrow. This week we will be asking you to share and post each day.

I started my journey without MFP when I delivered my son in 1999 at 242 lbs .... I got down to 150 then I got preggo with my daughter in 2005 ... I tried every diet but nothing worked ... I found MFP in 2009 and lost 78 lbs ...I was on top of the world ..then I lost 3 people within a few weeks apart and I gave up and deleted my account .... My husky and my daughter are my walking partners so they help to keep me strong My head is in the game this time around ... I will succeed ... something is different this time around I am actually anxious to be on keto this time around and looking forward to what I can accomplish ... I think it is because I feel healthy and I am walking 5 days a week besides meal prepping weekly ...I feel prepared this time around4 -
Happy Sat night everyone! I made small choices at dinner to help get ready for tomorrow, like ordering a side salad instead of fries with my gluten free sandwich. Looking forward to a big day of batch cooking tomorrow!3

I only have time for one post and I saw this so thought I would comment on it haha
This time around (because, like many people, this isn't my first rodeo!) I was just sitting at home one day, watching tiktoks of people losing weight, and I was just in a huge funk- I was the highest weight ever, and unable to do my job properly, or anything for that matter.
On October 16th (I think it was) I posted a tiktok just showing what I looked like and I decided that the next day I was going to give this a go. so I started back on MFP (been a member for years) and then in November I found this amazing group!
It's been up and down the last year, but I'm still significantly less than I was this time last year!!
What will keep me strong? this group helps with motivation for sure, even though I don't post as much as I used to. My wife has also cut out sugar and fast food out of her diet (mostly) and is willing to try new things with me. Also my friends and family who know that I'm working on getting myself to a healthy weight (not told everyone)6 -
hi all. happy saturday night. may you all have a wonderful second half of the weekend.

what will keep me going? remembering where i was and knowing if i go back i will be dead. it scares the crap out of me.4 -
hi everyone, my name is Roger. 57 y/o. married, adult daughter who still lives with us. i live in san diego. i started getting fat while in the Navy. i got booted in 1995 after 12 1/2 years because of it. i kept getting fatter as time went by and it really escalated in 2008 when i lost my last job and hurt my back. i couldn't stand up straight for 2 years. overnight, literally over 1 night, something popped free and i could stand and walk without pain. i started losing weight after getting a chemical stress test but was chased out of the gym by fat shamers after losing 60 pounds. i gained back 100. i almost died one night in 2012 or 13 when my blood pressure med increase kicked in and made my b/p plummet to 50/0. that didn't make me lose weight. in 2017 i became house bound. i was unable to stand more than 2 minutes, couldn't walk 150 feet. i was unable to go to my dr. appointments for 2 years so my dr. called me and said he wouldn't renew my prescriptions until i came in. i had to tell him why i wasn't coming in - i couldn't fit in a car or walk into his office. he referred me to home based care, thankfully, which i had never heard about. when home based care took my case, they almost didn't, i weighed 566 pounds. i was released from them earlier this year down more than 200 pounds. i am currently down 298 pounds, off both of my b/p meds, no longer pre diabetic. i don't have a specific diet, just calories in. i don't count calories out since it can drastically change from website to website for the same thing. i have been losing 10-11 pounds a month since october 2019. i hope i start to slow down soon.11

Roger, your story is very humbling, motivating and impressive. Lee🙂🧡4 -
Just a silly question. What is the reason you picked your weigh in day?
I chose Thursday because it gives me time to think about the upcoming weekend; and time to recover if I overindulge.😊🧡✔

What started you on your weight loss journey?
I was just so big and wanted to be more healthy, I recently got diagnosed with arthritis and I was walking with a stick and so breathless and unfit, I got fed up with the pain and struggling to walk and at 51 this was not a place I wanted to be in already, so here I am losing weight and going to the gym.
Who or what will keep you strong?
So MFP has really helped me to keep going and joining this group has really helped!!! The biggest thing is everyone at work can see I am losing weight and I just cant stop now, stopping is not an option because they ALL expect me to keep going especially my manager! ..plus they all saw me struggling and now I'm not, it would be madness to stop, they would all be so angry lol...plus I am determined to just keep going and I will never stop, THIS IS MY TIME.6 -
