Despite becoming Lifetime in June 2003 (reached 128 lbs having lost 20 lbs in that time) I continued going to meetings and counting Points. I couldn't sustain 128 lbs, which I was all right with--I fluctuated pretty much between 132 and 138. I liked the points system back when the points were determined by CALORIES, fat, and fiber. But then at some point WW changed it so that calories were no longer in the equation and I found my weight was hovering more in the 138-141 range. 141 is the top weight in the healthy weight range for my height. So in 2013 at 141 lbs I said enough is enough and I joined MFP in order to be able to count calories. I continued going to WW meetings until early 2015 when I finally quit WW for good.
Besides going to WW meetings, in 2005 I started to use the WW message boards, specifically a thread called the Binge Enders Challenge. Then in 2006 I started my own thread, the 10 Cent Healthy Habits Challenge. In Aug 2016 we moved the group from WW to MFP. This is the group's description:
"This is a thread that was first established on the Weight Watchers message boards in 2006 until WW eliminated their message boards end of July/beginning Aug 2016. We earn "dimes" by following our Healthy Habits and then when our dimes add up we buy ourselves something special as a reward for our good efforts. Earning and spending the dimes is a fun way to stay on track, but the real reward is the support and encouragement we give each other as we get closer and closer to our weight loss goals."
We are a small group of 14 members, but really only 10 of us post either on a daily basis or at least check in about once a week. I post there at least once a day.
I go through phases where I do really well tracking my food in MFP but other times I don't do so well at all. The reason I joined UAC in September was to give me more accountability so that I could start making tracking one of my Healthy Habits that I actually follow on a regular basis again. It has been working!
I love the idea of this 10 Cent Healthy Habits Challenge! I did a MFP Community search but can’t find it — could you share info on how to find and join it?
Thanks!

Exercise today was another strength workout (Upper Body B: DB Rows, DB Overhead Press, DB Bicep Curls)
My foot is feeling a lot better but is not 100% yet. I've had tennis elbow before and it was a bear to get rid of, this is so much like that.
I found out today I will need to have a surgery performed in the next week or so that may keep me sidelined from walking/running anyway (not the foot). Been feeling a little weird simply due to that knowledge. No one word comes to mind, I'm just "not happy" about it. So making myself feel better by trying to be happy about it. It has at least brought an inner chuckle and smile.
I am sorry about the upcoming surgery. It is okay to let yourself feel disappointed - I know I would be. 🥰 You are in terrific physical shape so my hope for you is that outcomes and healing will be full and quick. Take good care if yourself.

I have almost all my auto posts disabled. I post my streaks when I remember, usually every 25 days.
Thanjs @Mrs_Hoffer and @TerriRichardson112 — I had no idea there was a place to control all this posting and sharing! Found the place for those settings snd have turned it off. I now resolve to only cheer people on their anniversaries of 25 days!3 -

I found and joined MFP at the end of July 2021 and found UAC days later. Thank goodness as this terrific group and challenge has been critical to my success so far. I honestly feel accountable to not only myself, but to all of you (and that is a good motivator for me).
I have the free edition at this point, and only use it through the app on my iPhone. Someone posted the other day about issues with a split column view on the iPad — I have that trouble too, but only with the posts from certain people. So I don’t use the iPad for viewing as it is just too irritating. If someone knows how to fix this?
I found out quickly that MFP has lots of trolling “friend” requests which I just ignore unless the person tells me how they know me or why they want to connect. I am happy to be friends with more UAC folk — just mention UAC in the body of the friend request. 🥰

I started using MFP in 2010 at the suggestion of a nutritionist at my gym. With her help I dropped about 25 pounds. After five years of struggling with foot problems and being unable to run or hike I had surgery last year. Two of them! I’m just now getting back on my feet, literally, and MFP has come to the rescue again. Finding this challenge has been an extra bonus and is definitely keeping me focused and honest and inspired.5 -

Sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery @WhatMeRunning.
So interesting to hear everyone's story. I joined MFP May 17/20 when my daughter told me about it. I basically logged on, crossed my fingers and jumped in. I've learned a lot -- but still have to lose a lot. I have no intention of quitting, neither MFP nor UAC. I found the UAC in June, 2020. Although I joined each subsequent month's UAC, I've only been actively participating for the 2 summers, 2020 & 2021. Fall/winter last year brought gallstones and emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I went back to work after a week thinking it would be okay since I was working from home. It wasn't; I was too tired at the end of the work day and did a lot of laying around until the end of April. I asked my husband to open the pool early so I could get back to exercising. I started swimming again April 27, 2021 and got back to being active on MFP May 15/21, two days before my one year MFP anniversary. I'm not sure if I've shared that I have plantar fasciitis, but it's pretty bad and it limits me. And yes, I am in treatment for it.
Today I exercised, logged everything, but went over in calories. The win however is that I logged it all; it can be a point of reference for the future. Pass day #3.

Yes, yes and yes
It appears I joined in 2014. I have been most consistent since joining the UAC group. I appreciate the site for the information I find in the community threads. I track my food and exercise on different sites.4 -

Hello! I've had MFP for a few years now; I wasn't consistently using it in the past. But since a few months back I've been more serious about it. But I can say that when I do use it, I can see changes happening. This time around I decided to join this group and that has helped a lot.

Best of luck with your surgery @WhatMeRunning !!
Yes, yes, and yes for today. I treated myself to a dance workout, which I assumed would be light and breezy. Joke was on me as I could barely keep up, but I had a blast!
This time around I've been on mfp since 2018. I think in total, it's been 6 years.4 -
Best of luck @WhatMeRunning!3

MFP says that I started in early 2016 on my profile, but when I look at how long I've been posting my weight on the progress tab, my first entry was December of 2011. The end of 2016 is when I got a little more serious about this. I suppose I've lost about 40 lb from my heaviest weight. Or I could say I lost about 10,000 lb and regained it again. :-)
I can't imagine tracking my calorie intake by hand like we used to do it.
It's also fun staying accountable with my friends from all over the world.

@whatmerunning - be well!
I am not sure how long I’ve been here. Maybe 8 years. Initially I joined to start logging food. I only did that for a few months and then stopped. I came back in about 2018 or 2019. I had not known about the groups and stumbled upon the UAC post telling everyone to come on over, so I did. Then life and stopped MFP. Then in January 2020, I was tired of working out alone in my basement, and was starting to slip in my habits. So I logged back in to MFP. @chinkiri told me to come back to UAC. Im so glad she did and that I did.
