It was 148 on Monday so I am a little disappointed but, a loss is a loss. We have a snowday today. I am pretty excited to take my kods outside to play, but the high is 28 so I don't think we will be outside for long.8 -

More shovelling today and a possibility of hockey tonight. People we had over on Sunday for a skate tested positive for Covid this morning so hubby and I will test after work and I will have to check the isolation rules with my hockey league. Chances are their son caught it at school Monday, but it's better to be sure.5 -
Happy Thursday, team.
Confession time, I gave into hunger last night and had a total hodge podge-type dinner plus lots of snacks. Booooo. But! I finallyyyyy woke up today (at 7am naturally, ahead of my 7:30 alarm) and got out for a 1 mile run before work. Turning the ship around!
@ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973 I actually full-on gasped at your weigh-ins, pretty sure you were both in the 190s when I last saw your numbers. SO INSPIRING. !!!!!!
@PlaneMonkey your pics make me question why I don't make casseroles more often...6 -
1/31: 4475 steps
2/1: 37 minutes elliptical + 15 minutes weightlifting + 11374 steps
2/2: 48 minute walk + 6384 steps
Family drama is ramping up around here and I am using meditation and exercise to help me manage it. But, as an emotional eater, my go-to is food. So I am reminding myself today of my history with food and that it isn’t real comfort. I need to seek comfort elsewhere.

Hi, @Kali225. I was glad to read that you came here to post about your snacky night and your walk the next morning. I love to read about when people can move forward and “turn the ship around.” That is so inspiring.

Jenn @metaphysicalstudio hope the family drama calms down but it's great to acknowledge it and not let it derail you!
I've been feeling hungry a lot today so I'm filling the void with water as much as possible instead of with food. Hoping it helps and my body adjusts to the calorie reduction and this goes away soon.3 -
@jugar
First, I want to say that the Community section of MFP is super cumbersome to navigate on my phone but super easy on my laptop. Oh well, change is inevitable.
Second, I don't recall what I shared in the January post, but I joined the YMCA almost 2 weeks ago. Between that and my Leslie Sansone videos, I've been trying to do some form of exercise several days a week for at least 10 minutes. Gotta start somewhere, right? At the YMCA, I've been walking on the treadmill, even though I typically hate the machine that takes me nowhere fast. LOL. But watching a TV show or movie while I walk has made it quite enjoyable. I tried to do a 'bodyflow' class the other night and quickly realized that my body doesn't 'flow' like that from sitting on the floor to standing, stretching, and every other contortion in between. YET. The day will come soon when I'll try it again, but for now, I'm OK with the cardio. Next week I want to do the elliptical machine. I love that machine because it's no impact on my joints, thank God. I also want to do water walking; they have an indoor, heated pool. My joints will love me for it!

P.S. In addition to all of that, when we moved to our new home, I decided I wanted my office to be upstairs in the loft area. I work from home, so I knew that this would mean multiple trips up and down the stairs every weekday. For someone with arthritis in both knees (and probably both hips by now), it would seem illogical to make such a decision, but I'm determined not to be trapped in this bigger body. Some days, going up the stairs feels like torture, but slow or somewhat fast, I'm making it every single day. I'm getting stronger.
When you've hit bottom (metaphorically), the only way to go is up, right?

@evangsimmons170 I'm on an android phone and I don't know if iPhone is the same but as long as I bookmarked the group chat, when I tap on my profile photo in the top right corner, it shows me notifications (the bell shape) whenever anyone has posted in the group chat. Whenever I tap on any of them, it brings me to the group. I hate trying to find the group without that feature.
Good work on setting your office upstairs! Your dedication is inspiring.1 -

Thanks! I'll give my Android another try. It's time to get a new one anyway.

@evangsimmons170 that is a great loss! You are back on the way. I love that you are working on 10 minutes. I think you used to have a tendency to aim for unrealistic jumps up in exercise, and then get discouraged when you could not keep it up. The YMCA is a great resource, a boring session on the treadmill with something good to watch, and your Leslie Sansone videos are a fantastic start. I love the sound of the low impact pool exercise too - I know that is magic for a lot of people. Keep to your 10 minutes no matter what! If it is bedtime and you have not done it yet - do it anyhow! 10 minutes can happen any time, and slowly but surely you'll be able to do one of those flow classes. Go Rhonda!!Confession time, I gave into hunger last night and had a total hodge podge-type dinner plus lots of snacks. Booooo. But! My sister @EvMakesChanges once quoted a great "mantra" or reminder - "The only problem food can solve is hunger." Eating can fix that. It cannot fix anything else. Hunger happens and it is sometimes hard to stop eating when it hits hard, but getting hungry (preferably before every meal!) actually helps to eat well. The power of being hungry is that you did not overeat the meal before, so now you really need one! The power of eating to fill any other need is zero. I think sometimes our self definition statements can help change the dynamic in there, too. "I am an emotional eater" might not be helpful. "I eat when I am hungry" could maybe work better? And as @planemonkey suggested, try water first if you are just feeling like you have a void. But if you are really hungry, plan a good way to feed yourself. You've got this!
All that said, I had soft ice cream for lunch today. It is the only thing I had for lunch, so I'm not too worried, but you can bet that dinner was kale, cauliflower, a little bit of sweet potato, and a few shrimp. A dollop of pesto. I'm still not really looking forward to weighing myself when I get home...6 -
@evangsimmons170 Wow! I am so inspired by what you wrote. 10 minutes of movement is a great goal, and finding ways to enjoy your movement is essential. I liked being a member of the YMCA but it's a far drive as we live far from civilization.
Your post is so positive and focused on your goals. You want a body that "flows" and know it isn't quite there "YET." That word is pure magic! Just keep looking forward.

Keep well everyone - and send any extra energy you have to @micki48 - I sure wish we could all descend on you and help! Can you imagine the hilarity, energy, and (of course) the effective completion of all tasks in record time? It would be wild.
Oh thank you for that @jugar. If only that were possible. It would be a blast. And so much easier. I am truly spent. It was a LOT easier 11 years ago when we came down here.
I can hardly keep track of what day it is. Tomorrow is weigh in already. We’ll see. I had a loss when I stepped on earlier this week.
Falling asleep, so I better head to bed.3 -

Hey everyone. Seems like everyone is doing well. That steps report from January was jaw dropping good. And @PlaneMonkey Those casseroles look delicious.
Work has been super busy. I'm so ready for Covid to go away. I know some people don't want to take vaccines and I am perfectly OK with that. It is your body so you should chose. However, being a nurse on the front lines I can tell you that those that have been vaccinated and contract covid are doing a lot better then those that are not vaccinated and contract it. We lost 3 unvaccinated patients this week and to watch their families grieve is unbearable. One was 76 years old, one 41 years old, and the third was 17. It's emotionally draining to be a nurse right now.
Last bit not least...my Christmas present finally arrived last Saturday. Had to arrive late because he had to stay with his momma for a few more weeks. That's right...a new puppy. He is pomeranian and shi tzu mix and weighs 2.8 pounds. He makes me sooooo happy. Plus now I have 2 dogs to take on long walks.
Everybody stay safe.

So this happened....
BUT! I'm eligible for a free replacement, I just have to ship in the old one first so I'll be without it for a few days. Maybe the new one will be more accurate and won't credit me record breaking stair climbs when I'm actually on the couch petting the cat...5 -
@kdblpn omg. He is adorable!!
2/2 steps: 9104
2/3 exercise: 9714 steps + 60 minutes Orangetheory (18 minutes treadmill and 42 minutes rowing, weightlifting, stretching. Fitbit gave me 3502 steps for it).
I think I might have to go back to logging meals next week as my weight has been going up every day this week. Although that could be where I am in my hormonal cycle. I might be in the red for the first week of February and that's discouraging6 -
PlaneMonkey wrote: »So this happened....

@jugar CW: 181.3
The groundhog died right before Feb 2nd. Must be a sign! I'm glad you have snowshoes down there in MA. Borrow a charger for your Fitbit, perhaps (or get a replacement to keep in the car).
@PlaneMonkey My daughter and I have IBS and have a new book called, "The beginner's guide to LOW-FODMAP" by Sarah Mirkin, RDN. It's been really helpful to gain insights to which foods are the real culprits and which can be swapped out for better choices. I'll mail it to you if you can't find a copy. Good luck with the covid testing.
@micki48 the national guard should have some group they can deploy to get your stuff in order. My niece is in the Canadian Guard and proved extremely helpful the day of our wedding in 2017. Everyone was about to leave the 2 of us alone with packing up the tables, chairs, and tent (with rain in the forecast). She saved the day by telling the small band of guys exactly what to do and how. Poof! The truck was packed in 10 minutes flat. I wish that for you in the near future! Best of luck.
@metaphysicalstudio One of the phrases I started to use may be helpful to you, too. "I used to be an emotional eater and now I'm choosing to pause (or whatever)." It's taken me some time to work out that when energies around me ramp up, I can step back and own only what is mine and leave the rest for the others to claim. Use the word D.E.T.A.C.H. as an acronym for "don't even think about changing her/him!"
If I can do it, you'll be able to, too!4 -
PW 234.0
CW 237.4
Well it's that time of the month so I will just have to live with it. Hopefully next week I'll be below 234.0 and back to weight loss. My increase in fiber has been going well but didn't help much with constipation. I also started taking a prebiotic/prebiotic from a company called Seed. Oh my goodness! This has helped so much with constipation. In fact I would say I feel normal in that department now. I try to eat some fermented foods during the week too. Usually I go for sourdough bread or kombucha. Still not getting much exercise in. Calories are good and I know that matters most.
I know someone mentioned dry skin awhile ago...maybe it was @Kali225. I have that problem with our cold dry winters. I LOVE the whipped body scrubs from a company called Farmhouse Fresh. My favorite is the triple shot carmel latte. It doesn't leave your skin greasy and is mostly all natural. It also supports an animal rescue. I love a lot of their products.
@kdblpn He is so cute! Congrats 👏 I think when you are around sad things at work coming home to adorable things is a must! I have definitely spent more time doing play dough with the kids and playing with my pets!
@ashleycarole86 Congrats on all your hard work lately! I'm getting my masters in Instructional Design. I basically already design all of my Instruction currently since all of my students have special needs and I customize specifically to them. I will need to learn all of the educational theories. Many of the philosophers that influence education theories also influence occupational theories. That will help since I won't be totally lost. This degree will just help me move to the top of the pay scale since I have topped out after this year. I won't change jobs, still going to spend my days playing with kids and toys and begrudgingly doing some paper work too.4 -
Happy Friday!
The weather is ugly, so it is an indoors day most likely - plenty of housework to do, and I got a really good exercise session in this morning before my dad and stepmom got up. I skipped yesterday, and it felt great to get going today. I'll do another one later! More mobility work needed after all this sitting...
@kdblpn that puppy is adorable, and you have picked the most perfect name possible! I love the word gizmo. Here is a fun factoid for you. On a flute, there is actually a key called the gizmo. It closes the lowest key on the flute to facilitate playing some of the very highest notes! We love our gizmos

I've been up and down in weight this week and in mood, so I hope it gets better!
It's been nice to read everyone's posts!! I hope the start of February has been going well for everyone!
My name is Bonnie. I live in Toronto, Canada and @kellie_erin is my twin sister. I am currently at a 6-month mark at a new job and trying to finish a PhD (still). I have always struggled with my weight but I definitely struggle more when I am stressed and these last few years have been stressful!4
