HOW IT ALL WORKS: March runs from February 27 - April 2nd! F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Username:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for longer. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Thanks to the Captains, moderators, motivators, etc for leading the challenge! I know it takes a lot of work and I appreciate that.
I finished one of my workouts for today. I'm big into Virtual Reality (VR Fitness) and did a 1/2 hour "Supernatural" workout. SO. MUCH. FUN!!!

Happy New Month, Everybody! So happy to see all the new faces in the chat (and the old ones too, not that I'm calling anyone old, I swear)!
I am minstrelofsarcasm, also known as Minstrel, also known as Ashley, also known as "that sweaty girl in the corner"... I am one of the co-captains along with the ever-marvelous @melaniedscott. My role here is to provide some real talk, some good motivation, and a few too many jokes about stress eating for anyone's comfort levels.
The Basics:
I am 26 and currently living in Ohio. I work as a combustion engineer for an industrial manufacturing company (I set things on fire for money). I am fascinated by all facets of science, whether that be nuclear physics, nutrition, geology (I hear it rocks), chemistry, etc. Feel free to ask any of your questions when it comes to the science of things. I can't guarantee I'll know the answer, but I can definitely figure it out and provide an answer in a way that's (hopefully) understandable.
Why I am Here:
I love numbers, and when I discovered that I could get healthier (as my doctor told me I absolutely had to do) by keeping track of numbers, I signed up for MFP. My original weight was 8lbs 2oz, and while I don't think I'll ever make it quite that low ever again, my goal is to never be above my highest weight of 234 (September 2014).
Despite having joined this wonderful community, I didn't take my weight loss or my health seriously until after I graduated college in May 2017 and was told by a different doctor that my eating and (lack of) exercise habits put me on the road to diabetes. I'll admit, I was terrified. I grew up with a diabetic parent who took no actions towards improving their health to reduce their dependence on insulin and is now facing some very serious health complications. I didn't want that to happen to me - I wouldn't want to put anyone through having to worry about me in the same way I worried about them.
So I searched "gym" on Google Maps, and signed up for a free class with the first place that popped up in the results, a spin studio. Since July 1st, 2017, I have completed over 1,000 spin classes.
In other news, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December 2019 after an arduous journey from doctor to doctor, through several misdiagnoses (why is it that the first thing a doctor will suggest is anxiety if you're female and show emotion in the doctor's office?), 14 vials of blood drawn for blood tests, 3 weeks of being unable to consistently feel the left side of my body, 2 MRIs, 1 spinal tap, and a partridge in a pear tree. I could go into a long rant about everything, and I have, but there's no need to fill my introduction with things I've written time and time again (I'll post a link to my blog, for those of you interested in my madness).
In Summary:
Since joining MFP, I have lost over 70 lbs, regained about 15 while on a three-month business trip in France (wine and cheese is my weakness), lost 5 of them, gained 5 of them, maintained throughout 2020, yo-yo'ed for the first few months of 2021, and here I stand (sit) at 170 lbs, a good 64 net lbs lost. I don't have a goal weight anymore, since BMI was developed by a mathematician and not a doctor, and as long as I feel healthy, I can weigh whatever I want (somewhere in the 150's sounds pretty good right now, but I guess we'll see).
As for exercising, I do regular functional training HIIT classes to build up some resistance training on top of my strong cardio background. I’ve recently left the spin studio for a number of reasons, but may return at some point in the future.
If you want to know more about me, or my journey, feel free to ask questions, or you can find my blog here: LINK
Blog posts I’m especially proud of:- Creating a Sense of Accountability - This is my first blog post ever, and I’ve grown a lot since then, but so many of the same factors are still present in my life
- More Work to Do - Here’s a confession of some recent unhealthy thoughts I’ve had regarding my health journey, and some of my thoughts may sound similar to ones you’ve had towards yourself
- BMI is BS - I essentially wrote a history lesson on BMI and why you shouldn’t base your self worth on it. Most likely, your BMI is misrepresenting you.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you even more as we work our way through the month.

Hi there! I'm back after being excused for 2 weigh-ins. Was dealing with some medical stuff that then lead to some mental stuff, but I've been feeling better the last few days.

Feeling mentally strong again, ready to take on whatever life can throw at me. Here's hoping for a better March than February.6 -
Hi guys, it’s my first weigh in here.
My last weigh in Monday was 181.2
My current weight is 179.8
Since I’m new, I’ll tell you a bit about my weight loss. I have had three baby girls over the past few years my youngest is 14 months, during each of my pregnancies I put on large amounts of weight but it came off pretty quickly afterward back to my base 160-165. After my youngest I went from 220 to 190 but haven’t moved from there since coming home from the hospital. About three weeks ago I started trying to get serious about going down and I’m committed to at least being back to what I feel should be my set weight of 160 by early summertime. My ultimate goal is about 130 but we’ll see how that goes.4 -
Off to a good start this month. I am down almost another pound this week, though I am not officially weighing in until April after I finish my radiation treatments. Saw the oncologist this morning and she is happy with my progress and says I seem to be handling it very well. Feels good to hear that. I have only minor side effects from the radiation/chemo treatments which is a VERY good thing.
Welcome to all the newbies for March and congrats to all the old losers.6 -
Day 2 and all is well. I'm grateful to be here and feel motivated. I filled in the Habit Tracker and finished my workout. I know I'm drinking enough water because I'm wearing a path from my desk to the bathroom...lolol.
I'm gonna try to find my way around here and start reading some posts to get to know my WNM teammates a bit. For some reason, I get a little lost in the MFP communities when I'm on my phone. I do better when I'm on my laptop!
Cheering you on from Central Pennsylvania!

I promise I will post an intro soon...had a lively vertigo attack that flattened me for about 12 hours yesterday... only just woke up and am now very behind. Silver lining to vertigo...when I'm too dizzy to walk, I can't eat everything. Dinner was saltines and broth at 10pm.6

March Week One
Weigh In Day:Tuesdays
PW (Previous Weight): 171 (February 22nd)
CW (Current Weight): 175.2 (March 1st)
LTD (Loss to Date): 58.8 lbs
Oh boy, I was expecting a gain, but definitely not a 4.2lb gain. My eating has not been the greatest recently, but I highly doubt I've consumed 14k extra calories in the past week.
Reasons Why it May Be Water Retention:- Salt
- Sugar
- Muscle Recovery
- Stress
- Concussion (no idea if this leads to water retention, but I wouldn't doubt it)
Reasons Why This May Be a Legitimate Gain:- Pretzels
- Peanut Butter Ice Cream
- Beer
- Gouda Cheese
- Dried Apple Rings
- Pasta
- Muscle Growth
I'm assuming it's a little of column A, little of column B kind of situation. And while I will not deny the existence of disappointment and feelings of failure bouncing around in my brain, I know I'm still doing okay.
I caught a glimpse of myself in a window reflection at the gym this morning and there's some clear muscle definition developing in my arms and shoulders. I'm still feeling healthy, for the most part, and I'm definitely enjoying my day-to-day life, so it's not like my weight is preventing me from living well. There will always be things I want to change, but there's plenty I hope remains the same, and now is a great time to be mindful of that.5 -

March week 1
PW 142.3 Lbs
CW 142.2 Lbs
Hello everyone! I don’t think I’ve done an intro since I’ve been back and I’m really going to try and be more active on here this month
My name is Marcy, I’m 32 years old and live outside of Toronto, On. I have two dogs and a 4 year old boy who keep me busy. My weight has always been up and down and after I had my son I reached 176lbs and have been slowly getting back down to my goal weight of 130lbs. I’ve always been fairly active and worked jobs where I was on my feet but when that changed with the pandemic and me losing my job I put some of the weight back on.
Right now I’m trying to work on consistency with my eating habits and work out 3-4x a week as I’ve hit a bit of a plateau.
Have a great month everyone!

OMG...that is exactly why I didn't do my PT this am ... I was not sure I wouldn't drop my weights on my head. And my weights are much lighter than 45 lbs. Take care! Concussions are nothing to triffle with.2 -

Nice to meet you, Marcy! Four-year-olds are really fun! I love their energy AND their questions. I hear that Toronto is awesome! My son visited there a couple of years ago...fell in love with the city and especially the aquarium!1 -
It's DAY THREEEEEEEEEEE of the challenge. I'm hanging in there and doing fine. I started a blog, hoping to document my journey, but discovered that the MFP blogs aren't really working quite right. Oh well, I tried.
I mentioned before that I LOVE VR fitness. Tonight, I did three VR workouts for a total of 55 minutes...had a blast and I WAS DRENCHED. I love it when workouts are fun and I look forward to them every day.
I really need to focus on reducing sugar and sodium. I am diabetic and determined to get my sugar levels down. I have to have blood tests in mid-May and I'm on a push to lose pounds and keep my exercise levels consistent... I also am working on coming up with a good MEAL PREP plan that doesn't involve sugar.
I'm excited to see the temps starting to rise. Once they get above 40, then I start to do lunchtime walks... I work from home and I live really close to walking/biking trails so it's easy to get a short walk in during my lunch hour.
Keep up the good work!!!
My motto for 2021 is "Sixty-one and having FUN!!!"

I'm sorry to hear about your vertigo...I have a close friend who suffers from it and it can really negatively impact your life! I hope you feel better today!0 -
My scale is heading in the wrong direction, but...I have to remember that my morning weight is just a number...a data point that swings up and down from day-to-day. It's the general downward trend that counts, right? My muscles are sore from my recent workouts and my rings are tight today. I think I'll focus on fluids and perhaps even take a rest day from exercise (or do only a light workout).
It's "clean out the fridge day" here and I'm going to prepare and roast a big tray of veggies from the produce drawers before they go bad. I love roasted veggies... DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WAY TO PREPARE THEM? I often just use olive oil and garlic, but I have some other spice blends that I enjoy too...Greek spices, chipotle spices Italian spices...
Well...my break is done and I need to get back to work! I work from home for a large University and we're in the week before SPRING BREAK (for the students, not the staff) so this week is full of exams and project deadlines for all. I handle grading for about 2000 students and manage several Teaching Assistants. I'm looking forward to a bit of quiet next week while the students are off on adventures! Part of me wishes to be a student again...heading off to some warm and sunny location for a few days instead of staying here in cold Pennsylvania...lol
Have a good day, everyone!3 -

Oof, thanks. Things are better today, for sure. I'm hoping to be back to 100% by Friday.MistyGoes4Goal wrote: »My scale is heading in the wrong direction, but...I have to remember that my morning weight is just a number...a data point that swings up and down from day-to-day. Yes! The general downward trend is what's important. This is why F2F focuses more on a weekly weigh-in than a daily one, since our weight can fluctuate greatly day-to-day, but is often in the same conditions if you weigh in on the same day of the week around the same time.
Also! If your muscles are sore, a light workout is better than no workout! Even a simple walk can help your muscles release the lactic acid that has built up and improve recovery speed.MistyGoes4Goal wrote: »It's "clean out the fridge day" here and I'm going to prepare and roast a big tray of veggies from the produce drawers before they go bad. I usually use olive oil, garlic & pepper seasoning, paprika, and nutritional yeast for my roasted veggies. Sometimes I change up the spice profile, sometimes I roast for longer to get that nice toasty flavor... Also a big fan of just throwing all my veggies in a pan with some oil and sauté them until everything is at that fun state between crunchy and mushy.3 -
I sometimes make a puree of sundried tomato, balsamic vinegar, basil and olive oil for roasted veg. Soak the tomato in hot water to soften them up first.
I joined a different gym this week. I'll keep my PlanetFitness membership as I've made a lot of friends working there. The new place is a tiny Snap24 franchise. Only being 2.5 miles from my house I can walk down, lift and walk home. I like the idea of not driving to the gym. I lovethe idea of skipping the cardio machines!3
