How many 5% Challenges have you done? I've lost track, but since the 2011 Winter 5% Challenge so now 11 years.
What do you like to do for fun? I LOVE to paint, read, walking I still enjoy, playing with my GGS and kitty cat and lately I am enjoying being quite creative in the kitchen!
What major city do you live in or near? State? The Greater Portland, Maine area.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? Lose at least 50% of my 5% Goal which will be approximately 4.3 lbs. I lose slowly, but steady is my way. To continue to explore recipes, and my own creations of food.
Anything else you would like to share? With a positive attitude it's hard to be beaten down!! What we think we follow. AND I LOVE the 5% CHALLENGE!!! So far I am down 115 LBS!!4 -

What are you health/fitness goals for this season? To increase my exercise one day at a time; so that I can better my lung capacity and hopefully my back. I would love to be able to start walking more again.
Anything else you would like to share? The 5% Challenges have kept me sane!! I love them!! I did a 5K with the help of my team several years ago. This past challenge was not good for me, I was sick for the whole challenge. But I am feeling better now sooo.. Let's go Spring!!1 -

What do you like to do for fun? Read, movies, games, I used to love counted cross stitch and have been thinking about picking it up again. I enjoy teaching Bible Studies and of course, I am passionate about this challenge!

I believe that nutrition plays a much bigger part in weight loss than exercise, but BOTH are essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.2 -

What major city do you live in or near? State? I live in New Hampshire, about 1 hour from Portland ME or 2 hours from Boston MA
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? I am recovering from a broken wrist and would like to regain strength in that hand/arm (get back to the level of Strength Training that I was doing before the broken bone) and I would like to be bicycle-ready by the time the weather is amicable to bicycling.

What do you like to do for fun? Spend time with my family, hiking, swimming, walking, reading, knitting going to try paddle boarding this Spring.

Sing with and conduct a small choir that visits a couple or retirement homes each month, reading, computer games, knitting (trying to get back into it) spending time with family and friends.

To return to my maintenance weight - about 5- 8 pounds keep getting in the way!

Challenges helped me lose over 60 lbs and help me to maintain (for the most part) and stay motivated to keep exercising.3 -
How many 5% Challenges have you done? I've done two challenges: 2021 Fall & 2022 Winter.
What do you like to do for fun? Right now, fitness is my fun, but I want to get back to playing acoustic guitar, plus get some skills on ukulele and mandolin as well.

What are you health/fitness goals for this season?- Continue my recent yoga and pilates practices (they are really helping).
- Continue my efforts to learn proper breathing technique to swim the crawl, instead of mostly just the side stroke and the breast stroke with a swimmer's snorkel.
- Continue building back the muscle (and then some) that I lost during my 100+ pound weight loss.
- Begin tai chi (yang style) practice again, later this year.
- Do some major hiking some place like Switzerland or New Zealand some time this year.
Anything else you would like to share?- I've been on this journey since July 10th, 2020, and I'm down from 330 pounds to 222.2 pounds as of this morning.
- I exercise a lot, usually 3-4 hours/day, consisting of walking, swimming, strength training, cardio, pilates and yoga (soon to add cycling). I can't run/jog; one bad knee & one titanium knee.
- I use a Garmin fitness watch and I love challenges. Feel free to connect with me on Garmin Connect. I'm one of about 50 "Frank Brown's", but I'm in California and at level 4 (chasing level 5).
- I plan on continuing as a member of the Thinner Winners although the Fit Force has a nice ring to it.

What are you health/fitness goals for this season? Continue to lose and strengthen my muscles. I vary my calories most days, increasing or decreasing my exercise minutes 5-6 days a week. It has helped me overcome a weight loss slump.
Anything else you would like to share? I've lost 63 pounds so far, slowly, but it's still coming off. I'd like to get to about 135-137, 7 pounds away, and then maintain.2 -

I have a lot of energy. I am ADHD so focus is almost nonexistent. I need to work out to in order to focus at all. We adopted an abused dog who is also ADHD 2 years ago this July. Kaylee has come a long way but has a long way to go. She spent her first year outside with minimal food. To this day, she will not eat it all for fear that she might not get some later. We are still working on her need to chase cars. She barks way too much also. She is really smart and will be good and then she loses focus and is back to her bad habits. Oh well. She has stolen our hearts, so we will keep on loving her as she is.5 -

What do you like to do for fun? Walk, read, crochet, play games, do puzzles and hang with friends.
What major city do you live in or near? State? I live in Windsor Ontario right across the river from Detroit MI.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? My health and fitness goals for this season are to get back on track with my eating and exercise.
Anything else you would like to share? I have a 21 yr old Son, who now spends most weekends with us. He lives with my sister and her boyfriend and use to go to my Mom's before she passed away. We are his relax space now. I live in an apartment with my Hubby and our Rottie Trigger. It has become a bit of a tight fit but we make do.2 -

What do you like to do for fun? I have too many hobbies. I like to read, do counted cross stitch, card making. I have a lot of other crafty things that I would like to do if I had a lot of time. I also run, hike, strength train. Last year I started kayaking, but still just dabbling in that.

What are you health/fitness goals for this season? I am working on my running. I used to be a much better runner but health concerns have slowed me down a great deal. I have psoriatic arthritis and Ehlers Danlos - staying mobile and fit is important to me. I usually exercise five or six days a week, and I am going to put more focus on my running, trying to build my endurance back up. I used to do half marathon and marathon distances but over the past couple of years, I have had to walk more than run. I want to build that back up.
Anything else you would like to share? I have been maintaining my weight now since 2013. For the winter challenge I actually ended up losing a few pounds, which was a bit of a surprise - but certainly a pleasant one!1 -
How many 5% Challenges have you done? I have finished 19, so this will be my 20th.
What do you like to do for fun? I like to eat, cook, bake, and fortunately I like exercise too. I enjoy reading, sewing, knitting, and love gardening, but DH and I travel too much to keep the gardens, so right now we have the beds planted to red clover to rebuild the soil until we "settle."
What major city do you live in or near? State? My home is southern Idaho, DH's is North Dakota, and during the winter we are snowbirds in southern Utah.
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Continue to whittle away on my middle-age belly, and build a strong aerobic base to perhaps train for one more half marathon?
Anything else you would like to share? My word for 2022 is "Practice." I chose that because I need to let go of unrealistic exceptions, and the curse of perfectionism.2 -
How many 5% Challenges have you done? I have been doing these challenges since the SUDS Team on SP. I have no idea how many it has been. I just know that I have enjoyed every one of them. It helped to keep me going when I was going through Chemo and Radiation.
What do you like to do for fun? If possible, I love to walk on trails and travel. Right now I am a caregiver for 100% disabled husband. He just turned 70 and he is having problems with falling. Most of our outings are to doctor's appointments and grocery shopping. Now we enjoy watching old movies and shows like Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train and similar shows.
What major city do you live in or near? State? I live in a small community and the nearest big city is Memphis, TN. We don't go there very often.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? I just want to keep losing weight and try to get my body back in shape. Hopefully it will help me to not need certain meds anymore.
Anything else you would like to share? I am a mother to 4 children, Grandma to 12 children and Great grandma to 2 precious little girls.1 -
How many 5% Challenges have you done? A few, but never here. I was on SparkPeople before it changed format. I had some wonderful people on my team! There was a great camaraderie, a true spirit and solidarity, full of encouragement and kindness.
What do you like to do for fun? I live in a beach town so I enjoy being outside breathing the salty air, swimming in the sea (in the summer season), longe-côte in the cooler ones, leisurely walking or cycling , doing things with my two children and reading-- but that's a luxury I don't often get to partake in because of the children! Just enjoying the beautiful area that I am fortunate to live in.

What are you health/fitness goals for this season? I've got a lot of extra weight on me and it's starting to create physical aches which were not there before. So, the goal is to lighten up the load so that my back and feet will not suffer, gain some strength and just feel better overall. I want to feel like I've recharged my batteries and am raring to go!
Anything else you would like to share? I am an example to follow with my daytime eating and an absolute disaster in the evening with my night time snacking!! It's a habit and not a need and I often don't realise I've consumed until after the fact. It's awful and completely out of control. Sometimes it's procrastination, sometimes stress, sometimes boredom... I think if I could get that under control, my weight would be too. A goal to work on during this challenge too...
