March Week 1
Weigh in day: Wednesday
Previous Weight: 167
Current Weight: 165.4
(Yay!)2 -
When I have veggies closing in on extinction I chop and freeze them. If I have a bag of spinach nearing death, I throw that bag in the freezer.
I am trying intermittent fasting with low carb. My first meal of the day is lunch. I thought on the habit chart that I was going for 50 to 60 carbs per day. Apparently, I wrote 50 carbs. I am going to see if I can motivate myself back to 30 carbs or less. Will just see how this works out for me in this challenge. I am not going to stress over it. My real struggle is when I am tired, frustrated, and etc. That is a combination disaster waiting to happen. I have worked hard this week to challenge my way of thinking to prevent the throwing in the towel to my excuses. So far so good.
Life is going to happen no matter what I do. So, my challenge is to change the way I react or behave to negative or stressful events.3 -
Good evening WNM! Welcome to all the new ladies & gents!
I'm Melanie and I'm from Kansas. I’m the other team Co-captain. Truly, Ashley does most of the heavy lifting.
My (short version) story
I was always was skinny (no, not thin, skinny, all knees and elbows). At 18, I weighed between 110 and 120 at 5"6'. Maybe. I got happy. Then I got fat. I found myself weighing in about 230 and my six sixteens were too small. I bought a couple pairs of 18 pants from the thrift store and joined MFP.
I lost ~70 pounds in about a year and was pretty pleased. But I wanted another 20 off...and it didn't move. And things got a bit crazy with my husband's family (we won’t talk about that—it always leads to crazy-pants ranting)...so I decided to maintain for a bit. Instead of maintaining, I gained back most of the weight. So...now I'm here and working on losing 60 pounds (40 of the 50 I 'found' and the 20 I never lost).
My special snowflake challenges
I'm fairly significantly asthmatic (on meds all the time), have terrible allergies and connective tissue issues (not enough collagen, too stretchy, lots of joint slippage). The past five and a half months have been difficult for me because of the slippy joints—one of my shoulders slipped, refused to relocate and…well. I finished official PT last month but I'm still doing PT exercises to the tune of about 30 minutes most days.
August 2020, I acquired some vertigo problems (or, maybe they just got worse). After adding some meds, adjusting my diet a bit, and stopping coffee (so sad), I’ve got it mostly under control, with only intermittent episodes (like Monday). Needless to say, if I'm dizzy, I'm not walking or doing anything else.
The point behind saying this is not woe-is-me, it is that a lot of exercise people promote is bad (anything high impact), and sometimes dangerous, for me. Sometimes people get down on themselves because they don't do the stuff everyone talks about HIIT, Insanity, stair steppers, etc. I not only don't do those things, I shouldn't. But I should exercise.
Outside of PT, I’m not exercising much. I do get about 30 minutes of walking at least during the week because I have to walk to and from my car for work and all around the building to get to anyone I need to see or the ladies’. I try to get a walk in otherwise but frequently fail. Weekends are a mixed bag.
My 2022 Goals- I want to be in better shape, regardless of weight (PT has shown me how out of shape I've gotten).
- I have a closet full of size 10's that I want to wear.
- Back to Wedding Weight (165) before the end of the year. Maybe lower...
- Walk at least 30 minutes a day. (I plan to start participating in the step challenge again)
- Consistently do all my PT exercises and the extra hip flexors and core exercises I've added.
- 80 oz of water or non-alcoholic liquid a day, mostly water.
- Cut down on sugar and junk food (but it is Girl Scout cookie season!!)
Welcome to the team newbies! I’ve sent friend requests to all of you (many have already added). Looking forward to getting to know you all!6 -

Hi, I'm Tracy. I have 2 boys and 2 granddaughters with a grandson on the way this month. I have been married 27 years in april. I work as an assistant director in childcare. Each day is a surprise, this week we have the stomach bug going around, I am hoping not to catch it, I also hope my granddaughter does not catch it, she comes to school with me and lives in my home. It has hit her classroom so fingers crossed. I love to walk and do zumba every Sunday, I have an ifit account so when I am on the treadmill it is not as boring. I gain and lose the same 5 pounds. I have been going to a weight loss clinic and a nutritionist which hasn't helped that much. I was given some meds to try even though I really didnt want to, but after a few months I thought what the heck. Well they haven't done anything. I would love to get some of my weight off because I have a few vacations planned this year. I am hoping to get to Canada to see my family and aruba for my sil wedding.
Welcome new team mates3 -

I've been struggling with a head cold this week, and it's my time of the month, so I'm not surprised at all. Hopefully I'll be able to get a bigger number next week.3 -

My journey with weight:
In 2017 I was at my highest weight of 233 or more. I had "tried" every "diet" under the sun. What I did not do was consider a lifestyle change. In 2017 I changed my thinking and said No to diet and yes to a lifestyle change. I have exercised since my 30's. I began gaining weigh towards mid 30's or late 30's. I never stopped working out hard. The thing I learned was I could not exercise and lose without beginning to truly look at what and how I ate. In 2017 I tried the Whole 30 and lost my first twenty pounds. I was keeping my carbs at less than 120 with whole 30. At that time one of my sons was doing keto he encouraged me to try it. Over the course of a year, I dropped down to 160 with keto and tracking my progress faithfully in MFP. Then in 2019 the pandemic hit, and I made the decision to give up my gym and workout partners. I also quit tracking anything in MFP. So of course, my weight has blossomed to the 180's go figure. Three or four months ago some of my beloved friends and I began texting and encouraging each other. Misty being the one who brought three of us to this challenge which has been a game changer for me. Thank you, my beloved friend Misty1!! So, when we began texting, I came to the realization (DUH) that of course I gained because I was clueless about what I was consuming. I began tracking the good, the bad, and the ugly. I would begin each week with full intention of cutting carbs and not eating when I was stressed. I am a nurse and I come home stressed a lot some days worse than others. And I would just sabotage myself time and time again. With this challenge I opened up my diary for my own personal accountability. I am not yet Strick keto I am working my way back into it trying to cut carbs between 50 to 60. This week I am so proud of myself because I have stayed on track. One day this week I truly wanted to just throw in the towel and eat. The accountability of this challenge has been exactly what I needed. Thank you, Misty, thank you for the powers that be that created this challenge. I am very grateful to you!!!!4 -

I'm excited because I've worked out for 6 hrs this week...and it's been amazing. I've had a blast...a little sore, but happy, energized, and feeling very happy and positive. I haven't lost a bit of weight, but I believe it's temporary. I know in the long-term, the weight will come off. I'm proud of myself for carving out time for me!3

My steps were horrible last week. I didnt exercise at all. I didnt do that bad with my food. Never got 10,000 steps at all. I have to change that this week. I did get to zumba today but she is cancelling next weeks class so I will do something else in its place. It's a nice day here, I'm hoping the weather keeps getting nicer. My granddaughters are off practicing riding their bikes and scooters today.2
