Newbie Type 2

Hello!
I am a 60-year-old female and was just diagnosed in February with Type 2, with a A1c of 7.0. My fasting blood in the mornings range from 125 - 160. I had been prediabetic for a couple of years. Still it was a shock to know that I am in the diabetic range. I am taking Metformin 800mg once a day. I started eating a low-carb diet, and walking. I'm up to walking 3 miles a day, at least 5 days a week.
I'm hoping to get my average blood sugar down so I don't have to go on additional medication and want to stay healthy. Weight loss is also my goal.
Looking forward to being a part of this group and learning from you all.
