HOW IT ALL WORKS: The May challenge runs from May 1 - 28. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for longer. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Welcome to May!
This is our home for the month, where all of our joys and challenges take place. Please (re)introduce yourselves and set some goals and daily actions for the month. Focus on the small every day choices, and you will get where you want to go!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86 . I live in rural Québec, and I'm a retired university professor of music. My weight loss story? After being somewhat overweight for most of my life, I really packed it on while in an admin job that involved a lot of sitting, meetings, travel, and meals. I tried many times to lose, but it was not until I was 58 that I got really serious with both food and exercise. In October 2022, I'll hit 10 years on maintenance, always refining and making sure I don't have to do it all over again. Yes, it is possible to lose weight and get in shape during and after menopause!
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time! When you post, put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, please request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can request to move to the "Support Team" where you can still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link is under "Announcements" on the main F2F page. Jump there from here -

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals for the month, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. Let the introductions roll!2 -
Hi all!
I am co-captain alongside @jugar and happy to welcome back all members returning and those that are new. Hope you love it here as much as I do.
I run the step challenge for the team. If you're joining for May, and not already on the team, I will need:
-your daily step pledge (not required, but will mean you can't be included in certain metrics)
-your step + exercise count posted every Sunday for the last Sunday - Saturday
Remember, while this is a step challenge, your steps and minutes of intentional exercise ALL count, so post them both! Keep that in mind for your step pledge as well. There will be stats that encompass only steps, and others that incorporate exercise too, so we track a bit of everything.
My weight loss story:
-Woke up in January 2021 from a bad dream as my weight was approaching 300 and decided to get back on here. I'd been on before, but it never stuck.
-I have lost over 125 pounds and I'm now in my normal BMI. My weight loss was due to tracking absolutely every morsel that went into my mouth as accurately as possible, every single day. I also love to exercise now! My favorites are walking and riding the Peloton.
-My husband and fellow teammate @bowens1973 had a much needed hip replacement in late 2020 and it gave him a new lease on life. Shortly after I hopped on here, he did too, and he and I have been losing weight around the same rate for the last year plus. He is a great support at home and does all the cooking. I am so lucky to have him.
-We live at home with our dog, two cats, and my recent addition is my mom and her dog who have moved into our basement. I work full time in a managerial role, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
-My weight loss rate will slow now and I intend to switch to maintenance relatively soon once I get a bit more buffer between me and the top end of my normal BMI.
-The MFP community is a major key to my success and I log on here every single day without fail, even when I don't have time or life is busy. When life gets busy, habits risk breaking, and I am always happy I made the time to check in over other things because if I'm not healthy, the rest of that stuff is impacted anyway!
Looking forward to getting everyone even better through another month of fun.4 -

First reminder of the new month! Sunday weigh-ins:
@deniners2
@Terytha
@BlissfulK
@kathrynartis2271
You'll be starting us off right away! Thanks1 -
I'm Katie, 34, living near Nottingham UK with my husband and our two cats. I've been overweight since my early 20s, lost almost 15kg with MFP last year but put about 10kg back on over winter and have been trying to get back on track. I work full time from home with a desk based job, and OH now works as a police officer - he's been working the shifts for ~1 month and we're getting used to it! Last weekend I got the keys to an allotment so I'm aiming to spend more of my free time on that than eating and/or shopping. I also like running, weight lifting and walking, with my main sedentary hobby being cross stitch these days.1

@ells_bellz I hope your son is doing OK this afternoon.
I spent a couple of hours at the allotment yesterday morning, and again today. One of the long-standing tenants took me under his wing and showed/helped me clear some of the weeds. About half is clear now, and I started digging over the first bed this morning. It's hard work though, especially on my left wrist/forearm (I'm right handed), plus I feel it a bit in the thoracic area, so will aim for little and often going forward as we have a big area we can work in. The digging over is fine because I can use my legs/body weight for that, but hunger won today! I forgot to take a photo, but I'll get one tomorrow.
On Wednesday I have my first binge-eating therapy session. I am interested to see what tools they'll have to help me tackle the over-snacking. Thinking it and doing it are two different things of course. Tomorrow we're going to have a takeaway, because I have a discount for the bank holiday weekend, and it's OH's last night shift tonight. Right now I'm catching up on some admin because he's currently sleeping after getting home about 8am, but I wanted us to go out (it's 3pm and the place closes at 4.30) so I'm getting impatient!3 -

I'm confused - This is my normal weighing day, and in my mind, Sunday is the beginning of the week. Is that right? Is it the end of April Week 4 or the beginning of May Week 1?
Whatever it is, hope everyone has a great day!4 -
@ells_bellz I am so sorry that you're going through this troubled time with your son. My son is 30 years old, but I well remember worrying about how he would suffer if ever his heart was broken by a girlfriend, particularly as he is very sensitive. Fortunately, he has you and the rest of your family, and no matter what he may say, he will always draw strength and comfort from having you there. So hang in there. He knows you love him and that you are there for him.
All will be well - sending you huge virtual hugs!3 -

You've got it right- Sunday is the start of a new week so your awesome loss has kicked us off for May Week 1. Way to go!

@conleywoods I definitely realized as I got into this journey that I didn't properly document it through pictures- didn't really take a proper before photo as I sorta just woke up one day and got to it. Having said that, I've found a few things I've used here or there.. I will put something together for a little story when I switch to maintenance. I think I have my plan for that (for now!).. won't be long now.
I have a lot of well meaning people telling me "I don't need to lose any more weight." I do believe this is primarily because they're used to seeing me near 300 pounds..having said that I also feel perfectly content to just be in my normal BMI range. So I'll get a mini buffer from the top of it, and see how maintenance goes.
@PlaneMonkey Thanks for the comment.. my hairstylist straightened my very wavy hair that day.. i love it but I've never been good at girl stuff and repeating the result is something I'm not good at. Enjoy the look when someone else does it for me though 😀
@ells_bellz The concern for a child going through something so traumatic for them must be so difficult to work through. I don't have kids but I know if I did the worrying would be endless. Support for him and ensuring he knows you're there to talk about anything is key - sounds like you're trying to encourage some positives and in some ways it's just going to take time to heal. Hopefully things settle a bit after what sounds like a very scary situation.
Lots of good weigh-ins to close April @bonnie_red @lauren_989 @eggfreak to name a few. Let's make May great!5 -
Thank you so much everyone for your lovely support ❤️ Today is better day. Dominick is feeling better but very embarrassed. As it turned out he had nothing to eat since midday, so I think that's why he got so drunk.
I am so grateful that his friends not left him on his own.
I also had a chat with him. He assures me that he doesn't want to kill himself, he only said it because he was drunk. We've had a long chat about his feelings for his ex girlfriend. He is still so much in love with her, but he is also happy because he is back with his rugby friends. I just hope they'll still talk to him after the antics of last night 🥺 and going out with them might make the break up bit easier.
Thank you again ❤️7 -

The Sunday weigh-ins are always confusing! It is 1 week from the Week 4 April weigh-in, so even though it is the first day of the May tracking, it is your week 1 done and dusted. You always get to be first!2 -
Brilliant job WaistAways!! We had a good end to April, thanks especially to @conleywoods
@ells_bellz I am so relieved to hear about your good heart-to-heart with your son. You must be so grateful that his friends helped, that you were there to watch over him, and that he is doing OK, if feeling a bit of an idiot. That is not a bad thing!3 -

So yeah. I went to Seattle, had a ton of fun, and on my second to last day I broke a rib and my dad called me from the hospital. A bad infection complicated by his MS shut down his kidneys and nearly killed him. He spent a week there and is now at home on a cocktail of drugs and IVs. He's improving slowly.
Needless to say, I haven't been doing well. I just wanted to give up.
But well. I'm lousy at giving up. I always think I will, and then I get bored and start trying again.
So here's me. Giving up on giving up. Again.9 -
