I guess it is true what they say - it is a bit harder to lose weight as you get older. Well, if not harder, slower for sure. I am 63 years old, 6'2" tall. I am eating a healthy diet of 1800 calories per day. I am exercising, 2 mile walk at an 18.5 / minute per mile pace. I also try to swim 2 or 3 times per week. I just started this week going to the gym 3 times a week.

Might be slower to lose weight as you age but perhaps some of that can be attributed to being wiser. No crazy crash diets, restrictions or manic exercises. I’ve found that going slower lasts because you’re developing better habits.3

Charles, a loss rate of 2.2lbs per week is hardly slow! Admittedly for a 6'2" guy with a starting weight of 360lbs it's not an unsafe rate of loss, but it's definitely nothing to be sneezed at! I sure hope you're taking the time to congratulate yourself on your progress, and to enjoy the process. Losing is the fun part!

According to this website your loss equates to:
- a 5000 BTU air conditioner; or
- An elephant's heart (44lbs) and an average house cat (11lbs); or
- A sperm whale's brain (16lbs), 120 large eggs (15lbs), a Bald Eagle (12lbs), a human head (8lbs); an ostrich egg (4lbs); or
- the amount of pizza an average American eats in a year (23lbs), an automobile tyre (20bs) and two guinea pigs (1lb each); or
- about 100 wild or European hamsters...
Imagine toting around any of those objects all day every day....wow, what a weight has (literally) been lifted from your poor shoulders!

That's a lot of hamsters and mine are DEFINITELY of the WILD variety!!!
2.2lbs a week is within the range of 0.5 to 1% or so of body weight per week for you, so certainly not "concerning". Slow it is NOT--it is a 114lb a year pace!3 -
Okay I looked at your spreadsheet a bit more and it looks like your first 5 weeks must have been crazy fast!
The rest of it looks very close to 1.5 lb a week. And that is very close to my own first year average on MFP which, in retrospect, was just about at my speed limit. (And since I was consuming 2550 cal on average, my 750 deficit was a smaller portion of my overall TDEE)
When you ramp up exercise, especially if sore, you would expect a small bump up in weight to a new baseline.
Do not underestimate the lowly walking! I've found that the less possible excuses there exist between my potential activities and sitting in a chair, the more likely I am to follow through. Back when grocery bags were free 🤣 I was making Walmart runs on foot and playing lifting the bag games on the way home since I was feeling so light on my feet when the losses were adding up!😹3 -

It’s why we all check in here. Encouragement and support for each other really helps day to day.

Yooly's right, Charles, the encouragement and support really helps day to day. And I find that giving support and encouragement to others motivates me personally just as much as receiving it.4
