@jugar I will be returning to the regular team in June! I will weigh in on Friday's. I'm guessing you will need my initial weigh in next Friday? If not I also got on the scale today. Just let me know.
I've been checking my calories by logging random days to get an idea of where my daily calories are right now. I was able to narrow it down to 2100-2300 calories. I will be tracking at 2200 calories for the rest of this month and weighing in to make sure that's my true maintenance calorie range. This will help me plan my deficit for weight loss. My goals for the rest of this month are to log, just focus on calories and get steps in.
Many things have been checked off the list and life is getting a lot easier. I have made a lot of progress with stress management and my supplements for missing nutrients has made a massive impact. School is almost out...3 more weeks. I finished my instructional unit for my masters program and analyzed all my data. I just need to write the final sections of my paper and make a PowerPoint. Next week is conference week and not many parents wanted to meet. I will have some down time to finish my masters program up. This will put me on track to graduate about 2 months early. I'm glad I took a break from weight loss and really pushed through this process. Not so happy I gained 10 pounds but what's done is done.
Excited to be back with you all!4 -
One worry, though - those guys with big fingers (I've got too...) don't seem to contribute to the online calendar thing too much - unless yours is more of a collaborator than mine! I think a white board is a great idea, and then there are no excuses for putting things on there and making it clear. More than one might be too crazy. They are portable
@PlaneMonkey
This is my experience too
Brad and I use a shared Google Calendar, but only for events
However, while we both view it, I find I end up having to administer most of Brad's updates for him
3 -
@PlaneMonkey we use a shared Google Calendar. OH's shift pattern is on there (as is when he's likely to be sleeping if that's during the day) which helps with planning. He doesn't always put events in with enough notice for my liking, but he also tends to leave it late to plan things. Not a hill worth dying on.
We also use the Todoist app as a recent addition, which is working quite well. You can have scheduled tasks and assign them etc, or leave them unassigned and whoever has time gets to them. I think you could use a smart phone assistant (be it Google, Siri etc) to add them by voice command if that would work for him?4 -

Did I just type the word June? Something weird happened to my brain...conleywoods wrote: »Many things have been checked off the list and life is getting a lot easier. You may have noticed that I put out a call for a team motivator - since you were not there for a while, I thought it might be good to add another so that it isn't on one person's shoulders. Let me know if you want to continue - and we'll still hope to have two motivators! We do really well without anyone holding that title, though - so it is not a huge problem if no one can take it on. We will just have to be sure to continue to challenge each other, start discussions, and provoke thinking.

@conleywoods glad things are coming together - happy to see you back on the regular team. You've got a lot to manage.
Just had another confirmation of why I think weighing is better than volume measuring. Have lately had Caesar salad ingredients in the house for my brother. The Caesar croutons you can buy - well, they taste great, right? finally today I took a look at the nutrition info - 2 Tablespoons(7 grams)=35 cal. they're bulky hard crunchy little tasty things so how would you ever measure that with a spoon. Weighed instead on my scale. 8 grams were 3 croutons.
@EvMakesChanges unfortunately they're not MY ripe tomatoes, but I have been making a simplified version of what you describe for work snack and I love it; can't wait until I have my own to pick ( long ways to go for that)
Dear old dad's inner routine has changed and I'm trying to go with the flow, he's more agitated in the evening. Trazadone dose increase as a result - still far lower than if he were in a nursing home but probably double what it was 4 months ago. Just aiming for an even keel. Must admit, I'm tired at times.

My exercise today:
10735 steps + 20 min. strength + 45 bike
My horse will be arriving late in the day Saturday, and I can't wait to get him off the terrible trailers of doom and into his new barn. He will be one tired spotted creature. I just met a woman who keeps her horse at the same barn, and she is looking for someone to ride with. We're around the same age, so we'll be out there giving old women on horseback a good name! I think we'll enjoy each each other's company. We'll give Jasper a couple of weeks to rest up and get used to the place, and then we'll head out on the roads and trails. It is a paradise of small gravel roads with very little traffic and great views. I have missed that.6 -

@PlaneMonkey - My husband and I use a shared Google calendar as well for appointments, and any contractors that he has contacted that need to come to the house. It’s good that he adds them so that I can plan my work from home days to be here when they need to get in to work on something. I also use it to plan our social events, which he would say in the past he wouldn’t know about until the day was here (not true; I’d say it multiple times to him but ya’know), so now he can’t use that excuse anymore lol.
Then finally, I do have a shared chores list on our google calendar, which has weekly and monthly to-dos. I’ve been bad about keeping to it since we moved and are having a ton of work done at the house, but we did find it very helpful when things were calmer at our old place. Hopefully we’ll get back to that soon.2 -
@conleywoods
Welcome back. Glad to hear you're wrapping so many things up. We will benefit from you being back.

I'm a little discouraged about my weight. I know it could be worse, but I think I've tacked on about 14 pounds or so. 14? 12. Something like that.
I'm not posting a previous weight at all. TODAY IS DAY 1. I'm resetting and starting all over.
I have a wedding in August. I need motivation, for sure.
I have a 60" zero turn lawn mower and live on 2 acres. I have chickens on about a quarter acre, so there's not a blade of grass in their area. Today, I'm going to buy a push mower. Yep! I'm going to use a push mower to cut the grass. Debra needs to do SOMETHING to get back down to a weight that makes her happy. This one isn't it.
I rescued a pigeon from a neighboring Tractor Supply. It (I have no idea if it's a male or female) is getting a new home. Currently, it lives in a cage in the house. It will get a much larger pen this weekend.
I'm also tearing my dogs' room on the patio apart. It's still set up for winter. That seems to be over now. We get a bit cool still at night, but the dogs no longer need heat.
So those are my "activities" planned for today.
I'm about to finish this coffee, get in the shower, make a trip to Home Depot and Walmart. I'm feeling like putting some mulch down in front of the house.
Yesterday, I made a log for my father-in-law's grave. It's for memorial day, but I think we're leaving it there for always. I also made flowers. My camera takes horrible pictures, so excuse the blur. I broke the back glass. When I replaced it, I didn't see a stray piece floating around, so it just moves where it wants and sometimes obscures my photos. I'll post pictures of the log when it's actually finished. I was just pretty proud of my wood carving skills on this one. I hand carved the Army insignia with a Dremel.

Oops - not enough activity and too much food. Time to stop it now!
Otherwise feeling pretty good, had my post op visit yesterday and everything is healing well. Can start increasing my weight restriction next week - honestly 10 lbs really is nothing!
This weekend will be filled with gardening and walks! Not planning much more.
Now off to get caught up on all your posts ☺️6 -
Happy Saturday Waistaways!
@jugar so sorry Liselyn! I completely forgot to give you my weight for last Sunday 🤦
CW 231lbs.
It is up, so not pretty 😥
I promise I'll weigh in on time tomorrow 🤗4 -

60 pounds. That's an average 9 year old child! A grizzly bear cub! Be proud.
Your body is still not used to this state of affairs and it will try to convince you to go back. Just put it in its room until it stops lying to you. Get it out there with your push mower and make it do chores! You've got this. Join those of us having a logging-fest. Whatever works - and come on in here and brag
Brag about that gorgeous Dremel work, too. Blurry photos or no - that is seriously impressive.

Gained some back since my lower unofficial weight, but still a tiny loss officially. Just sweated a bunch of water out putting together my patio set. Had some tricky manufacturing parts, but all done! Now can’t wait to enjoy it when the sun moves from directly overhead.

Happy Saturday Team WaistAways!
@jugar, as I write this, I am imagining you being reunited with lovely Jasper! You're going to have so much fun with him.
@conleywoods - so good to have you back with us. I miss your updates and seeing the progress of your darling little piggies!
@wishfuljune - thanks for the idea of Google calendars. I need to find a place to log the new teaching qualification that I've just started. I want to have it finished by April 2024.
I am just emerging from an extremely stressful week. I spent a couple of days in London training, then a night with my lovely Mum just before she took off for a month-long holiday with my sister in the Netherlands. I did get a lovely surprise meeting up with one of my brothers who had come to London to help her with her bags and get her safely to the airport. We haven't seen each other for a couple of years (how does that even happen?)
Then I had a long drive back up to Worcestershire on Wednesday, just in time for an online meeting with my head of HR, then some prep for my apprentices. A face-to-face meeting with a prospective new college for my apprentices on Thursday - then home for more prep, followed by me delivering a lecture to this group yesterday. They now have a two-week break for half term, and I shall definitely benefit from the pause.
So, not surprisingly, I stayed in bed for the longest time this morning. Consciously listening to my body and feeling all the creaks of the week slowly leave me.
No workouts so far this week - although I am determined to do a Power Hour tomorrow morning!
Next week promises to be a lot calmer, we have a good friend coming to stay for a few days and now that the sun has decided to make a regular appearance, my project of tidying up my patio should be enjoyable as well as necessary!
Back tomorrow for my Sunday weigh-in. There are no workouts for me to forget - as I did last week!
Be well, my friends!6 -

I moved to the house this week and I don't know where my Fitbit is, so I couldn't count my steps this week, but I made 10 minutes of stretching every day and walked for 25 minutes.7 -
CW: 190.3
If I can change the batteries early enough tomorrow (and there's a positive "lower" weight, I'll let you know first thing tomorrow. Otherwise, we'll go with this one. It's not lower but it's not up by that much. I can give myself a little bit of grace and chill. I have 2 major house projects afoot which actually amount to 15 or 20 if you count all of the tiny steps that will need to happen in the middle of it all. Sigh. So annoying to not have endless amounts of energy to just get it all sorted and done - BOOM!- wouldn't that be nice.
The white board idea is great as is writing things down on the existing calendar. We'll see how the next few days go. This is the last late night shift OH is having to do and starting Tuesday, 7 a.m. - 3:00. Wahoo!
Time to make some tea and settle down for the evening. I'll be in bed early tonight and plan to get up early for a good walk.
Have a happy evening, everyone!

So sorry this has been such a bad month with travel/family complications/etc, I hope to be checking in more regularly very soon. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused by my sporadic weight reporting, but I definitely want to stay on the team!5 -
I bought the push mower and mowed the yard yesterday. The Emu didn't freak out as bad with a push mower. She absolutely goes nuts over the rider.
My boyfriend's father passed away in 2020. We visit the cemetery a lot. I have some family at the same cemetery, so we usually do our walk through when we go and check everyone's grave. We keep them up and clean them regularly, changing flowers frequently. When we go, we see a lot of old graves. He made a comment about how dirty some of the graves were. This has been on-going since 2020. He will point and say, "That grave is dirty," or "Look at that one." That led him to purchase a mobile pressure washer. So, after I cut the grass yesterday, we hitched the trailer and took the pressure washer on it's maiden voyage. Our first test was on my uncle's headstone. I figured if it was too much, we'd know on one of "mine." It did not disappoint.
There is another cemetery here that contains some very old graves. 3 In particular, caught our eye. We've been trying to research these women, but haven't found much yet. They are in a family plot containing 5 graves, but these three women are all buried in a North-South direction. Most graves are in an East-West direction. Anyway, we decided to adopt these graves. We take flowers and decided that this family plot was going to be our first secret "clean-up." I guess it's not a secret posting it here, but we are sure this family has no one left. The flowers we leave are never disturbed. The last person died in 1943. There is only one male in the plot. I'm going to do a rubbing of his headstone. It's the only one that's a different style, and it was damaged and broke in half at some point and has been repaired. I believe the death date is 1899. Anyway, We did a total of 15 headstones yesterday and plan to do more today.
Here's some before and afters of our secret mission.
