What a gorgeous sunny day we had today - pretty cold out, but crystal clear. The smoke from out west is keeping away! I got more garden tilling done and mowed a bit for the first time this year. The apple blossoms have survived the cold nights so far. Tomorrow is going to be nice and warm.
I have been extra busy today, so I'll post more tomorrow. Here's the Friday line-up:
@EvMakesChanges
@micki48
@LoraineGB
@wishfuljune
@PlaneMonkey
@jugar
@spyro88
There are still a few people from today and earlier as well. I'll nag more tomorrow Thanks!2 -
Sorry I've been MIA. I will try not to forget to get on the scale tomorrow AM. Been a busy week and you can sure tell we are nearing the end of the school year. I have a new assignment for next year. There's been a bit of drama around that. I am not a fan of drama.
My steps are ok but I do not have an exercise routine yet. I still feel like I am living in someone else's house and there are still (fewer) boxes and missing items. I hope to get more organizing done this weekend. My son in law is doing better, but it's slow healing for his finger, which honestly looks like an animal gnawed the end off.
@YinxFed Love the view of your beautiful walk and loved seeing your beautiful face.
I have not done a single thing in my garden. I would like get it turned over this weekend. We'll see. Got to get to bed.

@eggfreak I've never heard of Insect shield. Nice to know they're around, even if in Massachusetts. Anything to help with the massive explosion of ticks is fine by me!
Drought times evidently assist with knocking down the tick population but where I live, there are so many meadows and forests around it doesn't help much. Hordes of hens would be a plus!
I'm off to work and will check in this evening. Enjoy the day, dear WAs!

Red weeks need a good positive healing energy to help us turn the tide. Imagine yourself in a month, 6 months, a year. Imagine that you have been eating healthy foods and moving in ways that make you feel great. Look in the mirror at that person and watch the smile grow on your face. Feel how amazing you feel. You may not have lost a lot of weight, but you feel healthy and strong. You know how to get there - feed and move that tomorrow person today. Remember the non-zero days! Even if you only do one thing today for tomorrow you, it will build up.
I'm going back to re-read The End of Craving by Mark Schatzker. I like learning about the science of craving in that book. Some of it is truly astonishing. No diet, no willpower, but knowledge. Do you have a book or source that helps keep a positive emotional goal in yourself? Not depriving yourself of things, but getting to do something more positive that you really grow to love more and more? It is hard to find a permanent inspiration, but there are good companions along the way.
Happy Friday!5 -

I love this. lucky for me I don't need to imagine it. I have been eating healthy foods and moving in ways that make me feel great (with the exception of the occasional wedgie!) I like who I see in the mirror (although she could stand to brush her hair more often). I haven't lost any significant weight in 2 years but I do feel healthy and strong.
Yinka, that park and your gorgeous smile are both beautiful!
@EvMakesChanges, @eggfreak Ticks are the WORST. Yuck. No fun. Good to know there are things that keep them away, I'd never heard of treating your clothing.
Thanks everyone for the underwear advice! I'm going to go into a physical mall and see what I can find that will do the trick. Ordering online before I'm certain it will function as intended hasn't been working (as evidenced by the 15 brand new thongs in my drawer), and the quantities required to purchase in order to knock down the shipping costs makes it less worthwhile. Saturday they're announcing rain, and I'll be trapped in Montreal waiting to take my mother-in-law out to dinner for her 80th birthday so I might as well get my steps in at the mall shopping for 'des bobettes' as we call them in Quebec. Not quite ready to go commando as I'm aging into bladder issues and my Tabata class especially includes WAY too many jumping jacks. Ugh. Pelvic floor nightmares.

I did get on the scale this morning, but I didn't like it! I was going to wait until tomorrow, but I don't want to get busy or dressed and forget. Facing it. Now, if I get on tomorrow and it's lower, I will let you know. Food has not exited as quickly as it had been. It drives me crazy that I lose pretty consistently when under extreme stress and now that things are calming down a bit I start to gain. I don't want crazy stress in order to lose weight. I need to commit to figuring this out and making changes that work and don't involve excess stress.
The day is moving quickly. So glad it's Friday. Hoping to get some unpacking and organizing done this weekend. And a walk. I want to walk my neighborhood.
I wish I could nap right now like none of these kiddos are doing. Oh, and I'm moving to first grade next year. I will be in my old room from 12 years ago. LOL
@PlaneMonkey Good luck with your underwear hunting. We really are the Sisterhood (Brotherhood) of the Traveling Underpants. LOL6 -
@PlaneMonkey Loving the healthy and strong! And hair brushing is overrated... Hoping you find des bobettes de rêve!
I have had a huge garden work day - finished all the tilling, raking the beds up into lovely parallel lines (I love a good series of parallel lines), added some manure, and tomorrow I add tons of compost. Luckily I have been doing lots of Pilates and kettlebells lately - my back is feeling strong! Just a bit sore tonight, but it will pass fast.
@micki48 it must be feeling pretty good to have at least some of the unpacking done (I almost wrote "packing undone". It works too!) It's the weekend, so mixing in those neighbourhood walks is going to feel good to undo the kinks in the muscles from all the unpacking and lugging things around. Summer vacay is coming soon! Then 1st grade next year - I hope that is a change you are happy about. Don't worry about losing stress and gaining weight - you'll find a better balance of things soon, I'm sure.
@ashleycarole86 Hopefully your smoky air is getting better! And that you'll have a good weekend Here are my last 2 days of exercise:
Thursday - 10,586 + 30 Pilates + 45 bike
Friday - 13,873 + let's call it 2 hours garden work (heavy)5 -
Look how clean my horse is today! He got his spring cleaning, and is getting all prepped to be shipped to me soon. He was supposed to be leaving tomorrow, but there is a delay and he'll probably leave on Monday. I can't wait until he is all settled in here - the trip itself is kind of nerve-wracking, even though the people who are bringing him are wonderful and do a good job - it is a long way. But he'll forget all about it when he sees the lush grasses here. It is much drier in Alberta!

Well, this could be real, or it could be I was up late last night at a going away party for a friend, and then got up at 6. I'll have to buckle down this week, especially with the long weekend coming.
Good news is, I've got a three hour stint at the gym today, and I did dance for four hours off and on last night6 -

Not to shabby after having surgery and I’ve been sitting around a lot!
Surgery went well and getting some walking in but that’s about it until my 2 week follow up appt. Not allowed to lift anything over 10 lbs but that’s okay! I was able to stop taking the pain meds yesterday! I think it’s healing up nicely and so far no foods have bothered me!8 -

So just as I thought, my bathroom floor was the real culprit and not level for my scale. I feel better knowing this is definitely a more accurate reading for me.
My dietician and I met on Tuesday and I really loved her approach. She recommended small tweaks for me to increase my protein intake and get that macronutrient up to 30%, and carbs to be closer to 40%. She also recommended that I try to log my meals out and pick things that are close to what I’m eating. I also really love that she’s not telling me to stop eating out because we don’t live in bubbles.
My workouts this week were not as great because my work was so time consuming. I was basically in meetings 8:30-5:30 every day with very minimal breaks, and it made it hard to catch up on reports and other time sensitive tasks, so I usually stayed on after my last meeting to just catch up on everything else.
For this weekend, my brother and his family are coming over and we are making healthy-ish tacos for dinner. I’m also pampering myself to get my nails done which will be nice.
For workouts, I’m doing a cardio and abs workout today, then a hot yoga class tomorrow. I’m also going to try and go to a morning strength class since I’ve been terrible about canceling an after work class due to my work schedule.7 -
Happy Saturday! Thanks for all the updates.
@CupcakeCrusoe a 3 hour stint at the gym! That is serious stuff. Be sure that includes all the nice stretchy stuff
@carlsoda It sounds like you are having an excellent recovery and are beginning to enjoy your post-gallbladder life
@wishfuljune it sounds like you are having great gym plans too, in spite of endless workdays with way too many meetings. I remember those... A hot yoga class sounds like just the ticket to get over those kinds of days. Enjoy!
cleaning, errands, more garden, practicing - the day goes on! have a good one3 -

My month of me focusing on myself and food started off ok, then definitely went off track! I felt relieved not having to worry about the scale and just focus on food and movement and before I knew it I'm sneaking snacks and cookies again 😕 Anyway, @jugar I would like to join the regular team again next month. Can my weigh in days be Tuesdays? I will weigh in this Tuesday to get my starting weight for the month.4 -
Oh wait, this month has 5 weeks. @jugar I will weigh in next Tuesday for my starting June weight.2

Yep! That'll be the 30th of May. Gives you an extra week to get back into the tracking habit. It is amazing how easily those cookies and things sneak back in, isn't it? I'm glad you took the break though. It's all good information. Tally ho!4 -
I truly cannot be responsible to weigh in on Sundays.
I need to change my day back to Saturday.
Life is messy over here. We're finally getting the house put back together after the rat fiasco.
I have GOT to get my life in order!
I think I forgot to weigh in last week. I don't even know anymore.
