My steps are pretty low as Covid has wiped me out.Luckily just feels like a bad cold just so sleepy.Hopefully I will get some energy back soon.

Hello Shape Shifters. No walk again because I had some cleaning and groceries to sort out before my brother showed up. I didn't know what time he would be here; in hindsight I could have walked. It has been pretty cold at night, so I also switched the blanket on the guestbed to a winter one. We went out for dinner in the evening which was a bit of a disappointment. I had a cauliflower pie, but I didn't taste any cauliflower and the portion was small. My brother got a surprise from the chef which was a small quiche with unidentifiable veggies. As sides we got a bowl of plain carrots and a bowl with lukewarm potatoes. I don't cook, but I could have done better than that. My brother didn't want to get dessert, but earlier in the day I bought two small vegan tiramisu dessert from the grocery store so we had those at home. It was the tastiest thing of the evening. My brother had brought a boardgame that was new to me, so we played 7 Wonders Duel (I won, yay!). I was pretty tired after that so I went to bed while my brother stayed up a little longer to read. I worked on a puzzle in the afternoon that is so challenging I probably won’t be able to finish it before the end of the week when we start driving back to Houston. Darn!
My husband is in Albuquerque getting the annual service for the car- it’s a 5 hour drive but the closest Mercedes dealership so I was on my own watching junk TV and doing my puzzle. It’s crazy the kind of driving you do when you live in such a remote area! I was going to go with him, but our dog has this growth on her leg and the vet had an opening this morning so I wanted to snatch it. Poor Alaska, she’ll probably be in a cone for a few days.

Good morning Shape Shifters. After a cold night and not enough sleep I went out with my brother for a walk. We took the car to one of my favorite walks in the national park. I dressed warmer than normal, but it wasn't enough and I was cold the whole time (it was 2 degrees/35F or something). They were also working in the forest and cutting down trees which wasn't very nice. They really destroyed an entire area and there were plenty more trees marked. The walk was still nice and there were insane amount of mushrooms which was really fun. I had a shower when we got home and my brother left not too long after that. I went to the store to look for the vegan lasagne, of course it was nowhere to be found. Since the temperature has dropped so much, it would be nice to have some warm food to eat instead of yoghurt or my drink meal. Hopefully next week they will have some soup on sale or something. Today I went on my longest bike ride yet. It was a little scary going out on the road. I took a few photos! Lots of mushroom hunters out.
I road the bike to the end of the road where the river meets the ocean. Large freighters move through and it's really a neat spot. A lot of seals, sea lions and orcas like the area because I guess it concentrates fish. Hmm, I'm not sure on that. I've never personally seen an orca or a hump back, but they come up sometimes I've been told.
The old train trestle, there used to be a military fort to protect the mouth of the river.
Next time I would like to investigate this further! I didn't have a bike lock with me though.
This is along the Oregon Coast, the river is called the Columbia. I'm from a very land locked prairie region so this is always cool for me.

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday wasn't nice. I was super hungry, super grumpy and super bored. One of those would have been annoying enough, but all 3 made for an absolute craptastic day. I normally drink between 3 to 4 liters of water. Yesterday I somehow drank a whopping 5,5 liters. I have no idea how that happened and I had to stop myself from drinking more in the evening because I was still thirsty. My calories were way over, there was so much food. It's okay, I will buckle up and make sure there is a loss for my weigh in on Wednesday. Happy Friday everyone

Heading back to Houston on Sunday with my husband and dog. It takes two days. I'll use Sunday as my rest day and hope I have the energy for a short run when I arrive in Houston Monday evening. We will be there for a couple days for appointments, and then go to Chicago and Bloomington, Indiana to visit my son, and then on to Denver to see my daughter's formal swearing-in ceremony as an attorney. We had planned to spend a couple days in Chicago, but my son started coaching a youth basketball team in Bloomington so we are going to watch his game. I'm excited to see both my kids- even though not all of us together!
As a side note, I will need to be excused from next week's weigh in. I have no idea if I will have access to a scale.

I've been struggling lately with nutrition. I'm trying to get back on track by logging everything, doing more meal prep and cutting back on snacks. I'm finding it really tough to stay on track at the moment.
Yesterday I roasted a bunch of veggies (brussels sprouts and cauliflower) to have in the fridge. I made soup with the roasted cauliflower and have enough for lunch for a few days. Also made some home made apple sauce (no sugar) for a treat.

I’m hoping this is water weight. My rings were tight this morning. I’ve been prepping for a garage sale so I’ve been distracted by that. I did have a salty meal yesterday so I’m hoping that’s it.4 -
I'm on a cycling streak, brought the bike home last Friday and have been riding daily to get used to the bike and develop good handling. "You get to know your bike, and your bike knows you - and after that, you don't have to worry so much about wrecks anymore, it will take care of you. Does your bicycle have a name? Mine does." <-- the most profound conversation with a seven year old I've ever had.
Today I started a buck in the woods while I was trying to circumvent some tree roots, but did okay. At first I wasn't sure what was on my right and I have a black spot in my vision so I can't always see real well - but stayed up right and in control so getting better.5 -

When I stepped on the scales this morning I had forgotten what my previous weight was & thought I had gained so was feeling a bit miffed.So it was a nice surprise when I looked back & realised I'd lost 1.6 lbs.It certainly cheered up my day 🙂
