I also miss cooking with my Mom and Grandma. I loved the memories you shared. Gathering around the table can be powerful.
While I have a large extended family, I think I will keep it simple for Thanksgiving and do what I did last year. I ordered a meal and focused on my studies. We are coordinating details for a a Friendsgiving so if the day works for me, I will join a group of friends.
I'd love to go on a beach vacation for Christmas but it isn't in the budget. My niece and I have an annual ornament making weekend; we are planning this year's design.3 -

My steps have been pretty low lately as Ive felt so tired after having covid,so hopefully I can keep them up.Hoping to get a swim in today,it's a rainy day so maybe will try a walking video on u tube.

@Itadakimasu7 your cats are adorable,you never said what name you gave to your bicycle ? I used to travel to work on my bike which my brother sprayed bright pink.My boss named it Hercules 😂

Hello Shape Shifters. The weather wasn't bad yesterday, but I didn't walk. I didn't feel like it. I went to both groceriestores in town. Still no sign of the vegan lasagne which is sad. I got a new fryingpan at the second store for cheap with coupons. I didn't have one and the quality seems really good. I used it to fry the veggie/potato mix again and it did a good job. Very easy to clean as well which is nice. I wrote 3 postcards for Postcrossing and walked to the mailbox later in the day to drop them off. They are going to America, Germany and Finland this time. I ordered an ungodly amount of birdfood which ended up being around €120 total. I didn't buy any birdfood for a while though and this should last at least 10 months I am guessing. I also saw a set of 5 metal birds which were really pretty so I got those for myself. Tinus is getting a cute reindoor toy so I hope he will like it. Happy Tuesday everyone

I've completed eight of ten badges for October. Apart from the usual 5k Run badge, I don't do the running and cycling challenges. All that's left for me are the October Step Month badge and the Halloween Walking badge. I expect to complete October Step Month tomorrow and Halloween Walking on Saturday.

I was a little under my step goal (13K) these past few days, but the weather has been ugly (rain and cold wind) and I'm trying to put a little more energy into eating healthy. Made some more roasted cauliflower and carrot soup for lunch and it is delicious!4 -

Hi Shape Shifters! My name is Darin, and I'm a 44 year old woman living in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States. I have a wonderful husband and two snuggly but naughty 3 year old cats. I'm 5'7", and my heaviest weight ever was about 188 pounds. With the help of MFP I lost fifty pounds back in 2013 (see username) but gained it all back over the years... so I'm back for a more sustainable lifestyle shift. I also have a cruise to the tropics with the in-laws in February next year, so there's extended time in a swimsuit in the foreseeable future.
I know I do better when I'm logging in daily and posting progress, so I decided to give this a try. I appreciate your letting me join your group and won't let you down.6 -

Welcome @DarinGettingHawtin2013 and we're glad you found our team! Where is Holly Springs? ...I'm in Chesapeake, VA only a few miles from the NC border on the NE side of the state. I'm about 20 min from NC and 20 min from the oceanfront in Va Bch. Anywho...glad you made an introduction. Like I tell everyone, the more you invest and participate in the group, the more support you'll glean from it. We have weekly Group challenges that run every Sat to Sun...we have the step challenge and lots of opportunity for additional encouragement. Just a suggestion...go back to pg 1 of this chat thread and read our FAQ or it will be posted again in the November chat thread as soon as the room is created. That will answer lots of beginner questions, but if you ever need assistance, just post your question and I'm sure you'll get responses.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had another pretty quiet day. I forgot to buy new wetfood for the hedgehogs, so I went to the store to grab that. The food is still gone every day, so they haven't started hibernating yet. It is pretty warm, so I am not surprised. I was also out of the postcard with the church from my village on it. I don't really like that postcard, but some people on postcrossing prefer touristy cards so it is nice to have. They also had beautiful new 3D Christmas cards at the giftshop. I will probably get those for my mom, dad and brother later. Happy Wednesday everyone

Only a very small loss this week which is totally my own doing. I had a horrible binge day on Thursday, so on Friday morning I was up to 223.5. I ate very low calories the past 5 days, but the weight was slow to come off; even going up on Monday. I didn't go for any long walks during that time either which probably didn't help. My monthly loss was 8.1 pounds so I am still pretty happy with that. I also can't really complain about one out of control food day compared to +/- 66 others that were great. It isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things and I am happy with any loss, even the tiny ones.3 -
