    Given that quite a few of us have a holiday this week, I'm curious what everyone's strategy is going to be...
    How are YOU planning on tackling the holiday?

    We had our Thanksgiving dinner this past Saturday because some of my children/grandchildren were visiting from out of town, so we did dinner early this year.

    I visualized for several days what and how much I was going to eat. I limited myself to a slice of pie and small scoop of ice cream. I stuck to my plan.

    Thursday we’re going to my sister’s house to visit with her family visiting from out of town. Won’t be thanksgiving dinner, but instead traditional food from our growing up days celebrating our ethnic background.

    Again, I’ve been visualizing now for several days what and how much I’m going to have.
    I know I will stick to it.

    I think this pre visualizing and thinking about it daily has helped me greatly to prepare so that I don’t overeat.

    I’m going to make sure that the Turkey and green beans take up the most space on my plate followed by sweet potatoes and small amounts of everything else. I will likely be too busy cooking to eat the appetizers I put out.

    I go off my diet every weekend so really I’ll probably just treat it like a Saturday where I relax the diet but still try to hit my protein and fiber numbers. It’s too bad, though, that my weigh-in day is Friday!

    If it’s not too cold, I’ll suggest that we all go for a walk afterward.

    Sorry team that I have been MIA and I missed last weeks weigh-in. My work had me running long hours as we setup a new location in a different city. No gym time, no pre planned meals, etc. Next week should be back to normal and I for one am looking forward to getting back into a routine. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Team!

    Not being from the US, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving but a local shop had some turkey breast (I guess on the off-chance some Americans might be interested) so we've had roast turkey with chips and beans, turkey curry with rice, fried turkey with mash and corn and have enough for another meal tomorrow. 2 breasts + 2 people = 4 meals! Not bad!

    Enjoy your celebrations this thanksgiving 🦃

    Question for the group:

    Does anybody here use a habit tracking app, and if so, which one do you like?

    I know this is just a fluctuation in my weight today from 2 days of not being as mindful of my eating and not moving my body too much but oof still tough. Going to try harder this coming week.
    Hope everyone had a good week and a nice holiday!

    @9Harvey - 28,289 total | 4,041 average

    Well done walkers! A lot of us had more steps last week than the previous. Rankings have shifted a little but the top spot and Most Steps continue to follow @OllieAndEd2021! Way to go!

    How did everyone do this week? We are at just over 1.1 million steps for the month and have two more reporting weeks (one more walk-week). To hit the 2 million goal, we need ~880K, so about 440k per week, which is about 90k more per week or 13k each. Can we do it?

    I'm eating less! That's the only answer for this loss. I don't avoid having the things I like that are generally thought of as being bad for you, just not having lots of it, sometimes, half one day and half the next, I'm not stuffing myself, I'm not eating just because it's there, I'm happy to feel hunger pangs and let them be there until it's time to eat, ie no bites here or snacks there. I mostly have two meals a day, which leaves the equivalent of a third meal for other things like treats, snacks or drinks.

    Now, the thing is, can I keep doing this? Have I developed new habits or is it just a phase?

    I'm not in America so I don't do Thanksgiving feasts and, thankfully, didn't have to worry about that this week. I think forgot to wish you all a happy day on Thursday, 🦃sorry! I hope those who celebrate had a lovely day.

    @daria0919 I tried some habit trackers but found it was just an extra thing to think about and didn't use it well. I know many think it's helpful. In my opinion, there's no harm in trying a free version and see how you feel yourself. If I can find the names of ones I've tried, I'll add them below.

    Found them...
    Do It Now - I think this is the best option for what I consider a habit tracker to be.
    Pomodoro - this was just impractical for me.
    Balance (by Newson Health) - aimed at women going through menopause - I just didn't log things regularly and eventually stopped.

    It's that time again - this coming week we open to new members for December. If you have any friends who would like to join us, send them this link! They can sign up and end 2023 with a bang. MFP might have its issues, but it is an easy one-stop-shop for tracking and community that still works well in its free version. Not perfect, but pretty danged good!

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10903959/registration-for-new-members-december-2023#latest

    If you are already here on the team, you do not need to register again. We'll keep you always unless told otherwise!

    @daria0919

    For the past 5-6 years, I've been using Habitica. It's a bit nerdier than some of the classic habit trackers, but it has kept me engaged for a while, and helped quite a bit when I first downloaded it. Just be warned that there's a learning curve.

    I noticed the steps weren't going up by much yesterday on my watch, so I was either not doing as much movement during housework than I thought or the sensor has a glitch. I'll charge it to full power and clean it 🤞
