Great habits @strong_fit_ells
I've done the same this month (gone back to basics) and it feels good
@Gidgitgoescrzy
Wow, who would have thought boots could give a person shin splints.
I almost had two breakfasts today!
Brad was making us breakfast as he always does and I remembered my boss is taking us for breakfast today. Oops. It was early enough that Brad didn't have mine made yet.. lol
I'm donating blood today so no Peloton.. tonight will be a stop at the mall to make a return, and then a walk for our dog. I think we will get food at the mall but it will be from a place that posts calories so I can stick within my target.7 -
@strong_fit_ells Yes! The habit tracker is helpful - just don't let it slip away as the month goes on! I used to do that a lot, but have been more and more diligent with the thing Even when a day gets away from you - my 5th habit is labelled "day off/off day" for when I do not check a single other box. I try not to check that one very often, but it helps to have it there so that I still have to check something even on a day where nothing really goes to plan, or I just feel totally blah.
I'm glad to see a few more people in the tracker - we can cheer each other on - don't hesitate to leave comments or mention the good stuff you see in here. If you haven't tried it, it is never too late to start:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gAk0cBwETLpM74EDxJYjgkrgpqLmdMv569AoX0mjArU/edit?usp=sharing
The team tabs are at the bottom - just go to WaistAways and add yourself in. No need to have 5 habits - even 1 or 2 can be great.
I have lots of boring errands today. Including looking at step counter gadgets... I still have not replaced my old fitbit and am dragging my feet. I almost ordered a really cheap thing that does nothing but count steps, and I still might. We'll see! In the meantime, I'm just using my phone for now, and only when I'm walking for real and not just wandering around the house.
OK. Phone calls. Ugh.3 -
@lauren_989 fantastic loss - very inspiring

With the holiday and less structure, I am happy I stayed about the same for the month of December. January will be tricky too because I have a few more things on my plate with continuing my schooling along with work but have a warm vacation to look forward to at the end of the month.
Happy hump day - hope it goes by quick.6 -

It's better than a gain?
I made it to spin class today and it felt great! I have been sticking with my goals, other than I didn't reach my step goal yesterday. @ashleycarole86 - only 4,953 steps yesterday. It definitely seems like it should be more, until I think about the fact that I have been pretty glued to my computer at work and not making as much effort to get up and move outside of normal breaks. I will work on this more.4 -
I had a great day calorie wise and got my steps in at body pump, but my knee has been acting up the past few days 😕 I am icing it right now and have it elevated. I also have some stretches when I hurt my other knee a few years ago. I am going to take it easy for a few days. But body pump didn't help it today.6
-
Take care of that knee @lauren_989 ! Building strength will help, but be sure to take care of any injury first. WTG on a great calorie day

I've been without Internet at the house for a few days, hopefully rectified this weekend. I've been reading all the posts on my phone but would prefer to use the desktop for any real typing.
Anyhow starting out good, logging everything. Caved yesterday at work with some of the lingering temptations(oh I love you Hershey kisses) but logged them and today I said no to temptation.
So no internet, no online exercise yet, interested to try the Adriane yoga too... Would love to start a morning habit with that.
@ashleycarole86 I have aimed too high with 10,000 steps per day, just not realistic during the week... Possible to knock down to 8,000?
First thing when fully connected again... Habit tracker!

@eggfreak You bet, I've changed it to 8K!
Another good day. Habit tracker filled out. Tomorrow is the first time in a LONG time I'm looking forward to my weigh-in.5 -
Checking in before 10pm, look at me go!
I had a MUCH better day eating-wise. I definitely hit some kind of lull around 4pm almost everyday that turns on the snacking part of my brain but I kept it way more contained today and got right into yoga and then dinner when I got home from work. That's a huge win for me. I watched some college basketball (Go Hoos, baby!) and then got into bed pretty early, which I love.
I also did something a little brave today. I signed up for a ski weekend in Maine Jan 26-28 with the Boston Ski & Sports Club as a solo traveler! I've never been to Maine and I have been wanting to go to this specific resort for YEARS. Exciting! I will try to get on the snow on MLK weekend (Jan 15 is a holiday in the US) to dust off the board and my skills...
Sorry to hear about some injuries - @Gidgitgoescrzy and @lauren_989 I am always a proponent of resting a little bit more than you think you need
@MaddawgMadsen @ashleycarole86 and @wishfuljune leading the charge into the new year with fitness classes and mindful movement!6 -
Boy my weight is bouncing up and down two pounds at a time. We’ll see how this ends up. I may use an average. I feel bloated today. It was my daughter’s birthday today. So I did have a tiny piece of vanilla cake from Trader Joe’s. Had a quarter of a chicken cheesesteak. I feel stuffed now. But I did log my food and close my diary, I’m over my 7k step goal so that’s good.
I am falling asleep and dropping my phone writing this. 😂
Have a great night!

Yesterday was busy. Didn't get home until about 8:30. So no workout. And my job has me standing for hours at a time. Over 6000 steps yesterday and 5000 today. I did manage a futon upper body and and routine. It was great.

My group fitness class yesterday was great! We had the rowing machine as our form of cardio, which is one of my favorites. I am debating on going again after work today, or because my living room should be finished today, doing a workout tomorrow morning because I’ll have my workout space back in the sunroom. I’ve already signed up for a yoga class and spin class for the weekend.
@lauren_989 - I hope that your knee feels better soon! I had some knee pain a couple years back, and my doctor advised me to do strength training to build up muscle around the knee. It took time (and a supportive knee brace), but the strength training definitely helped.
@Kali225 - Have fun in Maine! I have family that live in that state, and it is beautiful. The two big ones that come to mind are Sunday River and Sugarloaf, and I’ve heard both are great if you’re going to either of those.
@micki48 - Kudos to logging food and still enjoying the celebration!6 -
Weigh in Day:

-0.4 lbs
Not the loss I wanted but realizing I have to incorporate exercise. I easily get 10,000 steps in a day due to my active job. So I've got to start back my walking and going to the gym routinely. Did fairly good on eating, still got to break some habits and my extreme cravings of sweets/sugar.7 -

Whew and I don't feel so bloated..That's the drop I needed to inspire me to keep the logging up, say no to junk, and no to wine. Now, to get the exercise habit into place. I really like the idea of a calm early morning stretch... And of course I could always do it on my own but it just doesn't happen... When Internet connected I'll see what I can find.
@Kali225 good for you to book that trip, you're going to have a great time and finally get snow boarding again!
@jugar thought of you and your hoard of applesauce as I had some last night for dessert. So simple but so good.7 -

Good Morning Team,
Yesterday I had a good day, food was good, I did yoga and a 15 min workout, although I didn't really do the exercises they played, I just did some standing moves from my walking aerobics videos, so like knee lifts, walking side to side, etc... Although I did do the parts with the standing arm exercises, I needed my steps and doing planks wasn't going to give me them... LOL The video in the DVD is my pilates video and I was apparently too lazy to switch them out.
My leg feels 95% better today, so maybe it wasn't shin splints, and it was just sore muscles. who knows but it's better.
I chatted with the Ireland tour people yesterday, they said if it's an active/fit group, they can sometimes average 25k-50k steps per day, I am not sure how that's possible, it takes me at minimum 1.5hrs to get 10k steps - and that's if I am moving the entire time. They said the long hikes average 2-3 hours, that's completely reasonable, but 30-50K steps?? nope , not reasonable.
Not gonna lie, I'm a little scared, but they did say they do loop hikes, so if it gets a little too much, I will bring my outdoor blanket that folds really tiny, and I will sit my butt down and enjoy the scenery until they get back, LOL
Today is going to be a good day, I started with a little meditation about patience, and some 4,2 energizing breathing, I prefer the 4,7,8 calming breathing, but figured I'd try something different.
I have a drs appt at 1, then took the rest of the day off, I'm not sure what I will do, but today is regular yoga, Pilates and a walk on the treadmill. Probably should have taken some chicken out for dinner, but alas I forgot... I do have chicken meatballs, so I can make the baked Chicken meatball skillet, but that has a ton of cheese.. HMMM I'll figure something out.
Have a great day !

Hey y'all! This is a weird transition week for me - off Mon, worked some Tues (but no meetings), back to work yesterday, half day today, full day tomorrow. My 8th grader returned to school today. No one at my house knows what day it is still, LOL! My wife teaches at the local university and doesn't go back until the 17th.
I've been focusing on water, making sure each meal is high in protein, and limiting processed carbs including alcohol. I feel less bloated and sluggish. The scale hasn't moved an ounce since Mon BUT I had a 3lb loss last week (water) so I'm no surprised or discouraged. I prepped some meals on Sun to help ease into this weird week and that has worked well.
Today I get to install a new wifi router, have 2 meetings, and will handle some business admin. I'd like to take a walk between my meetings to make sure I leave the house!
Have a good day everyone!8 -
@MaddawgMadsen hearing about your Oct success cutting out processed carbs and alcohol is inspiring! After a lot of both in Dec I have cut way, way back. I may follow your lead next week.4

Time to get serious for our Gran Fondo in July in the Okanagan. Here's a photo of @ashleycarole86 completing her first gran fondo last year (I was beyond proud of her).

@adrimango - for some reason, October was easier. I am honestly in a funk right now with my emotions and attitude. I haven't cheated on the diet, but I'm in the kind of funk where if I did, I don't know if I would care. Anyways, it would be great if you joined next week on the low/no highly processed carb diet and no alcohol. It's always wonderful to have support and accountability!
@ashleycarole86 - 6,973 steps yesterday - spin class and bowling league
I will not get my steps in today. I forgot my watch. But, it also snowed. I didn't bundle up enough to go for my normal walks. However, it is still snowing which means I get exercise once or twice/hour when I have to sweep or shovel off our walkway.6
