I'm a little late on the introduction part but here we go. I'm Bethanie, I'm 39, and live in Central NC. I work as a 911 dispatcher and have been at it for over 15 years. I have a love/hate relationship with my job; it has also, without a doubt, taken it's toll physically and mentally. I'm married to my amazing hubby of 8.5 years and have a 19yo stepson who is trying to navigate college. We have a pup named Max.
I struggle with eating while I'm bored. I used Saxenda for about 6 months and had success on it but my insurance quit covering it for a year, and I gained back all the weight I'd lost. Last spring, my stepson brought home some type of cootie from college which caused my asthma to flare really bad. I spent all summer sick; 2 rounds of antibiotics and steroids helped me gain another 15lbs. No bueno. I'm currently waiting on my insurance to approve Saxenda again (they decided to cover it again this insurance year).
I loved seeing everyone's pets. Here's my guy Max at Raven Rock State Park. He's 10. The second picture is Riley, our rainbow doggo. We had to put him down very unexpectedly last April. He was 9.

I’m Baaack! Just got home from a 10 day vacation. 9 days cruising was wonderful and I ate my way through the Bahamas and up
And down the Atlantic.
I only took the stairs all week so I at least had a little bit of activity and at our port stops we certainly did a lot of walking. I’ll get these 5 pounds off in no time
Happy new year everyone!7 -
@bethanie0825- Your dogs are beautiful. I'm sorry you had to put Riley down last year. I hope your insurance approves coverage of your medicine soon. It stinks that they stopped.
I did well yesterday staying within my calorie goal and met my water goal. Today I'm going to work on limiting snacking and waiting for meal time.6 -
January greetings!
Since I missed the start of the month I’d like to kick of this year on the right foot!
I’m Meg. 41 years old and still working to help my body become its most comfortable and most efficient!
I’ve lost and gained over the years. I am pretty active and love to hike, bike, walk and swim. Some injuries, lockdowns and general life got me into the worst shape of my life and I spent much of 2023 battling C. difficile and various illnesses.
I spent the year learning to eat for my health and well-being. I learned to get the sleep my body needs. I learned to say no, and have tried to find balance between work and home.
In 2024 I strive to prioritize my health, both physical and mental. I will find time every day for movement and for solitude.
Here’s to a good year ahead for all of us. I’ll be more present here since you’re all just about the best resource and support network anyone could ask for!
Cheers to 2024! Let’s kick this!6 -

@txcritter69 Congrats on the new Chromebook! Oh that's good you can make it a multi-functional room. Sorry about the allergies. I think this may be a cold as the allergy medication I usually take (Zyrtec) isn't helping.
@vrafer Congrats on the loss! Sorry about the flu, I hope you feel better soon.
@TeresaW2024 Thank you! Yes, unfortunately, I still do. Oh gosh, what a way to start the day! I'm glad you were there to catch Joe. Poor guy! I'm glad the pastor will hopefully work out.
@morenin I hope you feel better soon.
@19shmoo69 I've heard that new Godzilla movie was fabulous. I hear it is up for an Oscar. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@Katmary71 LOL not likely, unfortunately! I am starting to think this is more than allergies, as my husband was just sick and my allergy meds are not working. We took Daisy to the vet's yesterday for a checkup and she got her nails trim and did horribly. We heard her trying to bite someone lol. Enjoy decorating the boxes, that sounds fun!
@micaroo4 I love this! I can't wait to hear what you decide to do.
@bethanie0825 I hope it doesn't take too long to get covered for the Saxenda. My doctor wanted to put me on it but my insurance wouldn't cover it. Max is gorgeous! He has such an intense look on his face. Awww, Riley was a handsome fella, I'm sorry about his loss.
@megnolia82 I hope you had a blast!
Hi all. I'm thinking this is a cold not allergies. We'll see. I've got some errands to run today. I don't feel like doing anything. I'm making chili today for dinner: it's been cold here lately and it sounds yummy. Enjoy your day!

Happy Snow/Rainy Sunday!
Already shoveled the driveway of slush before it freezes over so I got a mini workout in. Need to finish my last assignment but brain doesn’t want to wake up today. Hopefully with copious amount of coffee that will fix that! Meal planning with what I have in freezer for week/month. Should save some $$ that way.
Have a great day everyone!

For a week where I wound up eating out three times, I'm going to count it as a solid, solid win. Only made it to yoga once this week (boo). I don't usually reserve my spot until I'm about to walk out the door, and I've never had any issues. But twice this week, the class I wanted was completely full. So I've already booked next week.
I also signed up for swim lessons at the local indoor aquatic center, to get some variety in while the weather is unpleasant for outdoor activities. This has meant the fun of trying to buy a swimsuit online in January. I have a really hard time with swimwear because I have a gut, but not much butt, so I have yet to find one that isn't two deep breaths from indecent exposure somewhere.
School semester starts tomorrow so things will be a bit more active at work, and I'm looking forward to that. Got my meal plan done for the week, already hit the grocery store, and ready to go.
I saw a number of comments about chatting in the thread, and as primarily a mobile user, it's hard to follow the conversations and tag people directly. I'm seriously impressed at our captain and motivators who can make it happen for just about everyone.6 -

Leaving church with my two teens I look down and saw a large peppermint on the pavement. I holler Street Candy. My son says to my daughter, if you eat that you don't have to pay back the ten dollars you owe me. She said nope but if you were to give me ten dollars I would do it. He's like but you owe me ten bucks. She's says but I want McDonald's, if you buy lunch at McDonald's I'll go back and eat it the street candy. He says OK but I get to video the whole thing. Deal!!
They come back my daughter looks at me and I see this lump in her cheek and she says it's wintergreen.
So McDonald's was the next stop.9 -

Hi all. Here are the results of the survey. Thank you to everyone who filled it out!
@trooworld - Thanks for the snack idea's. It's time I get my dog in for a nail trim too. Lol...And I'm making chilli today.
@bethanie0825 - Welcome! Those are some handsome dogs. Sorry to hear that Riley is no longer with you. I had a German shepherd that got lymphoma cancer when he was only six. He was the best. I really miss him.
@Sleepygirl79, @badnoodle, and @morenin - nice job shedding some weight this week.
Congratulations to @vrafer, @badnoodle , and @tammymccrady6278 for making the winners board.
@19shmoo69 - Great candy story...hehehe.
Last night, my mom came over and watched movies with me while my husband was at work.(Stillwater, and Taylor Swift Miss Americana). Then, I got my workout in today while my husband slept. I don't always workout on the weekends when my husband's home, unless I wake up earlier than he does. Now, I'm going to spend the rest of the day reading and put off anything else that might need done till tomorrow.💪Mission Slimpossible Strong!💪2 -

@micaroo4 Oh I love you playing guitar at the senior center, I think that's a great choice! I haven't heard of that song before (looked it up on YouTube) but I'm sure you'll master the song. You're inspiring me to do something similar.
@bethanie0825 I hope you'll be able to take Saxenda again soon, last summer sounds awful. Your dogs are beautiful, I'm sorry to hear about you losing Riley.
@megnolia82 Welcome back, the cruise sounds wonderful! Yes you'll get it off fast, good to see you back I hadn't realized you'd left for it and was wondering what happened to you. What a sweet compliment for the group, honestly joining it and having deeper talks really helped me realize others were going through similar stuff and it's helped me come out of my shell quite a bit first here and then in my daily life. So glad you're part of this awesome team!
@865jessica Good luck with your goals for today!
@trooworld Oh no I was hoping you weren't getting sick, shoot! Hahaha Daisy don't bite people! I hope you're feeling better soon and Daisy is enjoying her manicure and pedicure. Enjoy your chili and get some rest.
@gemwolf110 Happy Sunday! That's a great idea I hope you come up with some good recipes. I made one @trooworld recommended then one @Teresa2024 had made and am eating some delicious food right now!
@badnoodle Wow that's definitely a win even without the meals out but huge high 5, great job! Hm what about ordering swimsuits in separate pieces? I've done that with Land's End a couple times with tankini pieces. You're ready to start the week off prepared great job! Oh there's no way we could respond on mobile to everything, I used to accidentally backspace and lose everything in the days I'd try to scroll up and down to respond.
@vrafer @badnoodle @tammymccradt6278 Team winners for the last week, you all did so amazing!
@19shmoo69 Funny situation with the kids!
@Veta2018 Great job getting the workout in then spending the rest of the day reading, sounds like a perfect day!
@morenin Safe travels, hope it's a fun trip!
Hi team! I worked out then had the Valentine's for Seniors box-making/decorating event, we had a great turnout. Tomorrow's delivering the boxes, work, and my first day of PT. I need to get to Costco soon but not tomorrow, preferably on a non-rainy day so my legs and feet are doing better. Have a great Monday friends.4 -

Oh my my…I just read through 11 pages to catch up.
I’m hoping to get back to checking in regularly. I need it.
My new years was blah to say the least. This past 6 months have been a roller coaster, emotionally, physically and medically (after my husband’s accident).
I’m starting my new year a week late but here I am, ready to find my way back to my routine.
Glad to see all the new members and all the “old” 😊
Hoping everyone has a great week!

@Katmary71 I’ve been hearing about Ashwagandha but haven’t looked into it enough to give it a try. Is there a brand you recommend? I have some sleepytime tea but that only makes me get up to pee more than I already do. That is great that you have your brother and nephew to help you. I need to find someone willing to climb into my attic to change our air conditioner filter. Such a stupid place to put it! Your cats remind me of when I wash Maggie’s face. She rubs herself all over the furniture acting like I just tried to kill her. I’m glad you liked the chicken chili! As for the questions, I would think it would be easier for you three to ask them. If you get stumped you could always do another form and have us submit questions/icebreakers we would like to see. That way you don’t end up with people forgetting to do their question or repeating.
@micarro4 both of your adventures sound awesome! How sweet of you to want to play for the seniors. I’m sure they will love it and I hope you do get the courage to do it. Much better than cleaning the oven!
@bethanie0825 Max is sooo beautiful and very regal looking. So sorry you had to put down your Riley. He was gorgeous.
@trooworld Ugghh I hope you aren’t getting a cold and if you are I hope it quickly passes. The news was scaring me last night about all the flu going around this year. Usually I get a flu shot and I just haven’t this year. I think I will make an appointment and go this week. The thought of being really sick while taking care of Joe is one of my nightmares.
@19shmoo69 That story is disgusting and hilarious! I love your kids!!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Congrats on the 7-pound loss in two weeks. That is great!!
Good morning! I started this post yesterday and then forgot to post it. 😀Yesterday was a great day! After a year and a half my little church finally has a pastor. I really feel he is going to be a great addition to our church family. We have our first staff/leadership meeting this Wednesday so I will get to start learning how he will be as my boss. Hopefully a good one! I am happy to say that I have been 8 days sugar free. Yesterday we went to Jason’s Deli for lunch and after eating I turned down eating the free ice cream and had no issue watching my mom and my sister eat it. I am determined to do this! This week I repeat last week’s workout and will get to dig deeper, lift heavier, and hopefully survive. Have a great day!

@laurelfit57, @vegan4lyfe2012, and @txcritter69 - nice job on the weight loss.
Yeah! I hit 150lbs. on the scale this morning. I wanted to be there by New Years but I slacked on doing my daily exercise. That makes it a total of 30 lbs. lost since September 1st. I have 20 more lbs. to lose till I reach my goal weight. Then, I will use the habits I've learned to maintain my weight. @FushiaKat - It's been inspiring to see you at your goal weight and maintaining.💪Mission Slimpossible Strong!💪

@vrafer @badnoodle @tammymcrady6278 Congrats on making it onto the leaderboard!!! Way to go!
@morenin @sleepygirl79 @laurelfit57 @txcritter69 Congrats on the losses!
@gemwolf110 I hope the coffee helped your homework efforts. That's a good idea to use what is in the freezer.
@badnoodle Congrats on the loss! And super impressive that you ate out 3 times this week and still lost! Good luck with bathing suit shopping. re: comments and tagging...it's really hard when you are on a mobile phone but super easy when you are on a computer. But thanks!
@19shmoo69 HAHAHAHA! That's hilarious! And gross lol.
@Veta2018 I do like that suggestion, too. How'd your chili turn out? Mine was really good but greasy as heck. I should have used 93-96% lean ground beef but followed instructions to use 85%. I hope you enjoyed your reading and relaxing. What are you reading?
@Katmary71 Oh yeah, full-blown cold now. Thank you. Daisy did NOT enjoy it lol but oh well! The chili was good. That's good you had a great turnout for such a fun and rewarding thing to do. I hope PT goes well.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Wow how awesome, great job! I am glad you got kiddo time.
@AmbersWay Wow, super impressive that you read through all the posts! Glad to see you.
Hi all. Ugh I hate being sick. And I had to cook dinner last night on top of it. My head feels like it weighs 20 lbs from all the congestion. I also have a sinus headache, so fun times. I have an appt with a dietician today. We'll see what she has to say. I've been to dieticians before.

@TeresaW2024 Man, we posted at the exact same time lol. I'm glad I saw yours come in. I definitely have a cold, I'm a big miserable baby lol. That would be really hard to take care of Joe with the flu + you don't want him to get it either. I'm glad the pastor got voted in, awesome! I hope you get along with him and he's not a micromanager. Congrats on being sugar-free for 8 days! Awesome! Great job with the no-ice cream!
@Veta2018 We also posted at the same time lol. Congrats on your loss and making it to 150 lbs! Way to go!

@TeresaW2024 that’s great news on a new pastor. What did your church do while waiting?
@Veta2018 congrats on the loss! That’s so exciting! Cheering that next 20 on.
@trooworld I hope you feel better soon. How do you feel about the help of a dietitian? I went that route in the past and would love to hear others opinions.

Good Morning,
Congrats to everyone that moved the scale in the right direction.
@micaroo4 I like your way of thinking about snacks. I love the choices of adventures you picked. I unfortunately am suck at the house for now. My daughter has my everyday car as her is sitting in our garage waiting to be worked on by my hubby.
@TeresaW2024 What a way to start that morning. So glad to hear that the pastor is the one y'all are looking for. I too started this post yesterday and forgot to post as well. Congrats on being sugar free. That is great!
@morenin I hope you get to feeling better.
@Katmary71You are right about that on pet gifts. I am slowly getting through all the stuff in my craft room. It is hard trying to decide what to keep and what to let go of. My daughter is going to end up with what i get rid of so parting with it will not be such sorrow. Lol
@bethanie0825 Your Shepherds are gorgeous. Your job does sound like it would be a love/hate relationship. I hope all goes well with the insurance covering Saxenda.
@Megnolia82 Welcome home for your vacation. Sounds like you had a blast.
@trooworld So sorry it turned out to be a cold. I hope you get to feeling better. Daisey sounds like Diesel when it comes to nail trimming. It takes my hubby and I to do his. My hubby hold him while I trim.
@19shmoo69 I love the big mac from Micky D's. Kids will do some of the craziest things.
@Veta2018 I miss being able to speed time with my mom. I did the same thing about put off today what can be done tomorrow. Congrats on hitting 150 lbs. That is an awesome job losing 30 lbs in just over 4 months.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Glad you had a great time with family. Congrats on your loss.
@badnoodle Congrats on loss. We were invited out to eat the Sat before WI so it may have not helped in my WI but I am still sticking to the no spend Jan so I do for see any more eating out this month. Now only if I can give up the snacking at night.
Now I think I am caught up. I started this post yesterday and though I posted it.
Today will be a day of finally packing up Christmas Decor. I know I am probably the last to do this but, growing up my mom did not take down decor until after the 3 wise men come to see Jesus. I have decided to care on this tradition and wait the 12 days after Christmas to start taking everything down. The upside to this I get to see my Christmas decor a little longer. Hehehe4 -
@865jessica – What did you season your air popped popcorn with? That’s my usual go-to snack, but I want to stop using the fake butter-flavored spray oil. I don’t know how else to make my season salt stick to it.
@19shmoo69 – I am always willing to sacrifice for tea and your wife is hilarious! I absolutely LOVED Godzilla Minus One. Fantastic storyline and some very sad parts. I intend to add it to my physical collection as soon as it’s released on Blu-ray. I have to ask how old your son & daughter are for those Street Candy shenanigans hahahahaha!
@Katmary71 – Yes, we joke that people are going to think Byron and Sophie are twins I watched another episode of Reacher. He seems to be less robotic the longer he’s around Roscoe. No spoilers, please! I saw your photo on the newsfeed of the Valentine boxes – they are so festive!
@trooworld – Hope you’re feeling better.
@TeresaW2024 – Congrats on the new pastor! I hope he’s a fantastic boss, too! Congrats on being 8 days sugar free!
I had a great time with all the kids/grands yesterday. Since it was impromptu, Hunter made the easiest dinner…spaghetti and unmeatballs with her home made garlic bread. My plate consisted of 1 cup pasta, 6 unmeatballs, 1 small slice of garlic bread and half a plate of salad with a low cal vinaigrette. I was beyond satisfied. I’m still planning on being mainly whole foods, but I’m giving myself leeway of 10% processed foods (within reason). Brought leftovers for my lunch today and I am so full! Going on day 18 without soda, too. Not missing it at all Enjoying my refreshing cold Celestial Seasonings Zinger infusions. All in all, life is going good (except for this dang knee scooter). Hoping the doctor puts me in a walking boot tomorrow. Just need to decide on what type of sauce I’m going to make this evening for my tofu bowl. It’s kinda hard finding oil and nut free ones. Anywhose, I hope everyone has a Marvelous Monday!
