@SavageMrsMoose Members only have view access to the spreadsheets...only leadership can edit it. It's set that way by design, as not everyone is friendly with formulas and such. I've updated your steps on the January chart. Thanks for posting!

Good to know @jessicakrall8 I thought I was making everyone’s life harder by posting here instead of in the chart. I have a strained hip flexor so I’m going to take this month of the challenge, but I plan to be back in March.

I'm on the sweet-savory-loop a lot lately. I think eating salty foods potentially is making me crave sweets. I notice that on days I fast, go without eating, that I don't have any sugar cravings - so probably not a physical addiction, yet I can't seem to stop. Anyone beat the sweets monster? or figure out the trigger on eating sweets and how to avoid? I always feel so deprived without a little something, but a little something then turns into half my calories for the day inevitably (I promise myself that tomorrow WILL definitely be better) and after weeks or months of getting "caught up" on my favorite foods it's time to diet again, feel bad, watch diet videos on YouTube all day and make a new plan.
Actually kinda quit the group because I felt like I couldn't contribute any weight loss and was being detrimental. The diets I kept trying were actively making me sick (the one where the spoon was baby bokchoy and the main source of calories just killed me) and I finally just fell into diet fatigue.
Exercise has been going good but I keep gaining weight and I just feel too fat to really get going with cardio the way I need to. My weight really has my arthritis acting up.
Here's a nice photo from the ocean for reading all this ;-P *waves*

Good evening yall. I am most definitely missing yall on the team but ik time will pass quickly and I'll get to be active again before I know it.
Therapy is going well. The knee is healing well also. I'm mostly using my cane or walking independently inside the house and short distance outside without assistance devices. I start outpatient physical therapy on Monday. In home therapy ends on Friday. Op therapy is another 4 weeks of 2 to 3 days each week.
When I first came home from the hospital the weather was horrid, ice and snow. It's now been holding steady in the 40s and 50s but I live in Missouri so don't ever count your chickens before they hatch. Lol6 -
@Itadakimasu7 Love the picture, those whale statues look awesome. I am always on a sweet/savory loop, for some reason I always need one after the other. I think the most important thing is finding something sweet that doesn't trigger your cravings. For me the only thing that seems to fall under this catagory, is dark chocolate. So after my main dinner of potatoes and veg, I will have a small piece. That is enough for me to satisfy the need for something sweet. Another thing is not having it in the house, which I know isn't possible for some people because of family. Also put it somewhere you don't look all the time. I have completely forgotten about treats and unhealthy stuff in the past just because it was in a cupboard in the kitchen that I normally never open. What also helps is making it 'annoying' to get to. So when I have cookies, I open the package, put all the cookies in a ziplock bag, then do another bag around it, then put in a cookie tin, and put the cookie tin up somewhere high where I don't see it. That way it gives me a lot of time to consider if I really want the cookies which seems to help. And sometimes I am just too lazy for it, lol and realise I am fine without another cookie. Also maybe try out some low calorie or zero sweet drinks. I am personally only a water and tea girl, but if a sweet drink would help with the cravings, I would totally consider that.
Since it is getting painful to work out, I would switch the focus to your weight. Exercise really only adds a small portion of your calories burned and you can lose just fine without it. I would suggest going for walks instead. It is one the best things you can do to burn fat, it is gentle on your body and my favourite thing about is it that it doesn't make me more hungry. Anyway, just some ideas. I hope you will get your groove back soon!
@Armygirlarmyof1 Awesome to hear you are doing so well!5 -
Hello Shape Shifters! I hope you’re having a good week. Here’s my weekly weigh-in report:
Name: PatriceFitnessPal
Weigh-in day: Thursday
PW: 143.8
CW: 143.5
SW: 168
Ltd: 24.5
My target weight is 125-130 so I have 15-20 pounds to lose. I’m building more fruit and vegetables into my diet and plan to add some more movement into my day by riding my bike or walking more, instead of driving my car. I have a doctor appointment in April so I’ll use that to motivate me in the coming months! Best wishes in reaching your goals, Shape Shifters!3 -
@Armygirlarmyof1 - I’m so glad to hear your recovery is going well. Physical therapy really helped me stay accountable to doing the exercises to help me heal my shoulder. I should continue to do the exercises since it still bothers me, but I am not as dedicated to the exercises on my own. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the good advice for making it more difficult to eat food we’re trying to avoid @Pupowl. We can all benefit from your helpful tips! I wish exercise made a bigger difference in the weight loss puzzle but it’s only worth about one small snack. It also gets us in trouble sometimes because most people over-estimate calories burned from exercise and underestimate the number of calories we eat. 🙃1 -
Good morning all!
I’m going to do an early weigh in this week. Flying to Denver this afternoon for a dress fitting this weekend for my daughter’s wedding dress! I don’t know if the hotel has a scale or if it’s accurate. I’d rather not skip altogether though- trying to keep myself on track.
I’ve been skiing every day and we’ve had some great snow but I miss running. I’m going to try an easy 4 miles on the treadmill today and hope it doesn’t aggravate my hip.
@itadakimasu7. I love the whale sculpture! I too crave sweets, salty not so much. I usually have a small portioned dessert after dinner. For about 3 months, I would have 1/4 a Hershey bar in 1 graham cracker, with one toasted marshmallow. A small s’more. I forget the actual calories, but I think about 150. But honestly, I credit the semiglutide for helping me feel satisfied with this and not needing a couple more.

@itadakimasu7 - I’m so glad you’re still participating in the group! I hope you’ll come back more formally but any participation is better than none. I just want to be clear that I don’t consider it “detrimental” to the team if you don’t register a loss. It feels far more detrimental to lose a team member to me. Have you tried logging your food without trying to make any adjustments for weight loss or exercise?
I find it helpful to see patterns after a set time and then make small food substitutions. For example, I noticed I would snack while making dinner because I was hungry. So, I had much higher calories in the afternoon and evening. Now, I try to eat fruit to satisfy my afternoon cravings, and I often add a little Greek yogurt and nuts for protein, which seems to keep me satisfied longer. I also stopped buying ice cream and eat yogurt or tapioca pudding instead.
This part is difficult but makes a difference for me when it works — staying neutral and not self-criticizing. Without judging myself and, instead, treating food tracking data patterns like a science experiment, I sometimes do better. Your post was a good reminder to me about reducing the amount of emotion involved. Not all contributions to the team involve a weight loss compared to other teams! Your photos, humor, storytelling skills, artistic talent, honesty, and many other contributions are just as important. That’s what makes a community or a team — we bring different knowledge, skills, etc. and combine them to become better together.
It prompted me to re-read the MFP Success Story discussion below, which has been recommended by many people. It might be helpful to you: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10806436/what-do-you-notice-what-do-you-wonder/p1
When I select the “Nutrition” option from the main menu and review my stats using the weekly view — Last 7 days — I can get a better sense of the changes I need to make. I used to review the stats and reflect every week but I’ve lapsed in that area lately. I’m going to re-commit to this habit this week. Thanks again for the many ways you all enhance the Shape Shifter team!3 -
@PatriceFitnessPal Love the discussion you shared. I hadn't seen that one before. It is very true about discovering things yourself. My mom has also lost weight, though she was never as big as me. She is also really easily influenced by advertisements, yet doesn't often listen to my advise. So when she hears about a specific book or a new product, she will buy it. Anyway, I had been voicing my concerns for a while about her not getting enough protein and calories sometimes. But like so many other things, she didn't listen to me, yet when she read an article about protein, she was suddenly all over it. She has been maintaining for a while and stopped tracking her food. When she did, she realised she only got 30-40 protein a day so she has been increasing it. Today she wrote to me "I am so full from all that protein!" I am like, yeah, that's the point! Anyway, I very much agree that a big part of weight loss is about self discovery. Nobody is the same; things that work for me, may not work for someone else. I really like how the poster of that discussion went about her journey of just logging on MFP without goals tied to it. Being honest with yourself, learning your patterns, seeing what your starting point is. Knowledge is power.5

Good morning everyone, hope everyone is doing well. Im trying hard to not jump off the wagon again, I dont understand why it is so hard this time around. I used to be so disciplined and was so fit, now Im really struggling. We had a cold snap a couple weeks ago, and it was 45 below out, so that stopped my workouts that week, last week I pushed too hard, and had the post workout sore muscles for 4 days, from 1 workout. I could hardly walk for 2 days, haha, at least I know I pushed myself I guess. This week I had 5 days off, the first day my son got his tonsils out so I stent 5 hours at the surgery center for that, the next day my mom messaged me that she could hardly walk, so I ended up taking her to the ER, sat there for 5 hours, then spent another few hours driving her home, picking up her meds, dropping her doctors note off for her, then picked up her car because she was at work when i picked her up. it was just all day sitting. But I had a great work out yesterday, 3 miles on the treadmill. 30 minutes of shoulders and arms, then took my son and one of our dogs for a walk (we have 3 dogs but they are all 110 or more pounds, so I can only safely take one at a time on my own). Im about to head out for todays workout before grocery shopping, hoping to find a new routine7

This is a picture my son took from our walk yesterday. We walked up on the Rims, which is like cliffs that over look the city

Sorry for being absent lately. I got to travel to Australia for work, which was a busy but fun experience. We also had to say goodbye to one of our dogs, and our last senior pet, on Tuesday. She's the third we've had to say goodbye to in the last 18 months. It was a hard decision but it was what she needed to end her pain. Our family is taking it hard.10 -

@bearchested I'm so sorry you're dealing with the loss of your fur baby...it's so hard to let them go, but it sounds like it was best for her. So very sorry. May you find peace in your memories of happier times with all of them that you've lost.
