HOW IT ALL WORKS: The April challenge runs for four weeks, from March 31 - April 27.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get April rolling!

Hi,
I'm Laurie, the current Motivator for Shape Shifters; I'm an empty nester, married 33 years; both me and my husband work remote from home; my son and daughter-in-law moved 4 houses down the street from us and are expecting their first baby - a girl; my youngest son loves in Atlanta
GA with his fiancee - they are getting married in September destination wedding in CO - to be married on a mountain
My husband is Type 1 diabetic from his Stage 1 pancreatic cancer as they removed 2/3 of his pancreas 2 years ago in April. He is currently in remission from pancreatic cancer but has residual effects from chemo - neuropathy in both feet plus other nerve damage issues from herniated disk 11yrs ago
I'm also dealing with my older parents who need more care my mom needs 24/7 care so all the $ they received from selling their home last year will be eaten up & spent for their care at a new facility- so basically will have nothing left - it's very depressing and unbelievable
Thx for reading8 -
Hello Shape Shifters and welcome to our new members! I hope you are all doing well.
I am one of the captains of the team together with Jessica. We take care of all the data such as your weigh ins and the steps. If you have any questions, let us know! I joined this team in August 2021 and I have found it a very valuable tool on my weight loss journey.
There are a lot of things being offered here; there is the step challenge, the habit tracker, the weekly challenges, your personal weigh in and of course the Shape Shifter group chat itself. The more you engage with the group, the more you will get out of it.
Don't hesistate to reach out when you are having a hard time, chances are you aren't the only one and everyone here is kind and supportive. I often see people feel bad about posting a gain, please don't! We are all aware that weight loss isn't linear. Sometimes the scale just does what it wants, even when you do everything right. So post it, shrug it off and keep going. As long as you put in the work, the results will come, promise. Remember that one day of overeating does not erase any progress!
I wish everyone a great April with lots of victories, big and small!

Here is our habit tracker for April. Simply add yourself, pick some habits to track and check off the boxes when you do them!

Hello Shape Shifters and welcome to all the new members! I’m Patrice, and I’ve been a part of the F2F challenge since June 2021.
I live in the USA, just outside Washington, DC, in a fun, supportive, close-knit neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. My husband and I both grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, in an area of the city where neighbors also valued a strong connection to one another I’ve always been actively engaged in community events and civic life and it’s been so rewarding to watch my sons and their friends grow and learn together here. We have two adult children who live in apartments near their university campuses. Our older son (23) is in Boston and his younger brother (22) is in South Carolina.
I achieved my goal weight of 125 in September 2021 and maintained my weight within the target range I set (between 120-130) until November 24, 2022. That day, I weighed-in at 130.5. Since then, I’ve gained almost a pound each month so I now have about 15 pounds to lose. My weight gradually creeps up over time so I need to find a sustainable way to cut about 150-200 calories out of my diet. Because I’m short (a little under 5’4 inches tall or ~163 centimeters), I can’t fit a lot of calories into my daily target, and need to change the macronutrient balance. I’d like to eat more protein and fewer carbs and fat. ‘Knowing’ is easier than ‘doing’ though —
So, I’m working to build new habits that improve my nutrition, daily activity level (exercise and everyday movement), and overall health — such as balance, strength, and social-emotional wellbeing. There are other responsibilities and goals that are absorbing the time, effort, and focus needed to improve my health. For example, I travel to Boston regularly to help care for some aging relatives who are struggling with dementia and other health difficulties that complicate daily living. I also have other relatives who are grieving, dealing with mental health challenges, or both. My business is at a crossroads and I need to put more attention into client development while I’m also trying to change the service delivery structure so I can manage my time better. I need to create a more consistent schedule so I can carve out more time for the caregiving in Boston.
For fun, I play soccer in an adult co-Ed league and enjoy rowing on the nearby Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. We can’t row on the water during the winter but our spring season starts in April so I’m looking forward to getting in the 8-person ‘sweep’ crew boat (with a coxswain leading us) and an individual sculling shell soon! I’m looking into the possibility of signing up for a summer session at the Boston Community Rowing center so I can get my older relatives set up with the additional care they need.
I’ll turn 58 this year so it’s a bit difficult to balance the needs of my adult sons - who are on the cusp of independence - while supporting my father-in-law, mother, uncles, and great-aunt as they age with as much dignity and independence as possible — AND give enough energy to my business and husband so we have our own personal and financial foundation in place! So, the social and emotional benefits of my rowing, soccer, and local community are essential to my wellbeing; and my sister and several lifelong friends in Boston are my lifeline.
This group really supports me as I try to improve my health and fitness so thank you for the encouragement and accountability, Shape Shifters! I appreciate you and look forward to getting to know everyone a little better as we move into a new month. For me, spring is a time of renewal and I can’t wait to see what April 2024 brings. In January, @LauriWrobo encouraged us to choose a word for the new year. Mine is ‘flourish’ so I think April is a great time to revisit that word. Go Shape Shifters!
P.S. Sorry for the long introduction!6 -

@nancyinmo Most people choose a 5-10 lb range where they feel they can comfortably maintain...once you choose your range, let us know and we'll move you to the Goal Zone...so let me know and congrats!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members
How do I post my weigh in?
Userid
(Day of Week) Weigh-in
PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)
Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?
Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!
How often should I post in the chatroom?
Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!
What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?
Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or Pupowl) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.
What happens if I miss a weigh in?
If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if no explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.
How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?
Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple! Please be aware though, you're making a commitment to post your steps every 2-3 days, which helps the Captains keep the stats caught up. If you're not willing to do this, please do not sign up. (THANKS!!)
Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?
No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.
If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!
Welcome!
Jessica

Hello Shape Shifters. Time for another intro! I would love to see more introductions, so please share if you want to tell us something about yourself.
My name is Laura, I am 36 and I live with my cat Tinus in a small village in the Netherlands. I got really lucky with the house I rent and I live very close to a national park with a second one 30 minutes biking away. I enjoy walking, taking photographs of nature (birds are my favorite), reading fantasy books, drinking obscene amounts of tea, singing, postcrossing, video games and jigsaw puzzles. I am a pretty visual person and I like sharing pictures in the group.
I struggle with some health problems that make weight loss and life in general a little challenging, but I try my best! March was decent, except for the last 9 days of it when my food was out of control. I know this will happen every now and then, but I need to be better at getting back on track sooner. The longer off plan I go, the harder it is to claw my way back. I am pretty positive about my weight loss journey overall though and I am looking forward to making April a healthy month. Good luck everyone5 -
Saturday ~ March 30
Good morning Shape Shifters. I had a productive Saturday which started with cleaning up pee. I can't blame Tinus, because he was on the litterbox, but very rarely he doesn't go in far enough and squats down with his butt hanging over the edge. So there was a big puddle right in front of the box. I think this is only the 4th time it has happened in 9 years, so it wasn't a big deal. After taking care of that, I went on my walk which was nice. I did leg raises when I got home which I am making a new habit for this month to get in some core training. I did a bunch of laundry and spent a lot of time listening to my (current) favourite music and working on a puzzle. I did overdo it a bit at some point and had to take something for my headache, but I finished the puzzle at the end of the day. Happy Sunday everyone5 -
The daily card:Your mind has a deep and powerful connection with your body. When we're mentally stressed, our bodies mirror our minds by tightening up; and when we're mentally open and relaxed, our bodies can soften and relax. The magical thing is that this relationship works the other way too, so if we make our body more relaxed, our mind will follow. One of the best ways to do this is by smiling. Next time you're dealing with a difficult emotion or situation, try softening your face and smiling. This will tell your mind that you're doing OK-even if you're not feeling super-happy in the moment.2

~ Everything goes down hill(diet-wise) when my uncle and his wife come over and go hot-tubbing. In my mind they are professional drinkers and socializers and just an all-around fun couple. But that does equal disaster for me when it comes to my healthy living plans. Thinking about my plans for Easter today and trying not to eat right in this moment as I’m having post-drinking cravings. <<gulped down 40 oz water💦>> ahhhh that’s better!!
~ My grandmother went into the ER night before last for what we now know as a partial bowel blockage. They decided not to do surgery due to it is a partial blockage and she was on blood thinners. Praying for her and hope that she’ll be released in time for Easter. She’s the most beautiful soul I have ever known. And her family will truly miss her if she’s not here on one of her most favorite Christian holidays.3 - Track / Under / 20min Exercise?

Since we’re doing introductions…
Hi everyone, my name is Nancy. I’m a native New Yorker, then lived in Missouri for 20 years, and now living in Aventura (a suburb of Miami, Florida). I’m a retired high school English teacher, and now teach Jazzercise and Zumba. I’ve lost 110 pounds with the help of a GLP1, which, in my honest opinion, has saved my life. Menopause hit hard. Very hard. Covid didn’t help either, and at the same time, I had a horrible allergic reaction to a statin that left me almost paralyzed for a year. So the weight piled on. Now, I’m truly living my best life, exercising daily, learning Spanish (a MUST in Miami), and returning to school to finish my Master’s in English literature. My husband and I have lived in Florida for 6 months, and it has truly changed our lives for the better. My daughter is graduating from Indiana University in May and has decided to reside in Florida as well, which makes my heart happy. I’m excited to see what this next chapter of life has in store for me. I love being part of this group, and have been inspired by so many of you!!5 -
Good Morning ShapeShifters,

I have a 20-year-old son and my daughter just turned 18 last Thursday! I love reading, I'll read just about anything, fantasy, romance, thriller, mystery, biographies ect. Hi! I can't believe another month has passed by so quickly again friends. Well, I feel like I repeat myself on the welcome posts, but I'm a 49 year old eccentric living in the Pacific Northwest / Oregon Coast. I collect Lucky Cats (cat lover!) and have been learning Japanese. I'm visiting Okinawa in May! Maybe some of my studying will pay off when I can locate a bathroom or exit, lol.
Yesterday I went to Longbeach Washington, it's about a 45 minute drive from my house and has an excellent trail, coffee and kites. Here's some photos
Kites
The cool boardwalk that runs along the ocean.
A sign warning about goat head stickers in the grass, but soon this sign is going to be covered in cool stickers, as is the tradition here.
My favorite cat, Wookie Bear -- I hate having favorites but she's just so adorable.
I'm originally from Oklahoma, lived in the Ozarks for a long while and taught (tech and design) and now for health reasons I'm 'retired' and painting / arting on the coast but just personal stuff, not gallery works yet or anything (I have a BFA in fine art so have done the gallery jam, it's just kinda hollow and weird). My dream is to go back to running. Cheers!

Whoever wants to participate can - list your step count for each day at the beginning of the month and where you like to walk and post your steps every day or every two days - the captains enter your steps in a spreadsheet0 -
@izzyred9400 - I like your Easter tradition of cleaning and dressing up your decorative rabbit!
It’s a cute way to mark the transition to spring! ☺️1
