Made it back to Edmonton Alberta from Yellowknife North West Territories
We drove a total of 35 hours from Thursday last week until today.
Unfortunately we didn’t see much Aurora Borealis, mostly a green looking sunset in the middle of the night one night.
It was wonderful being so far north, lots of beautiful scenery and wonderful people.
Tomorrow we are going to the grand opening of a potato factory my husband helped design. Friday we have some corporate social activities then back home on Saturday.
I threw some photos under the spoiler, sorry if they are duplicates, I don’t remember what I already posted.8 -

Wow! That's an impressive amount of steps we all walked last month! Great job everyone!
@izzyred9400 I wish I had a park like that to walk in.3 -
Hello Shape Shifters. I was absent for a couple of day because work people cut my internet cable in half. They started here on Tuesday at 8:30 to replace the water pipes in the basement and to the outside. A lot of stuff went wrong. They couldn't connect it where they thought and so they had to dig a whole new ditch from my front door to the street which is when my cable got cut. I asked if they didn't have any drawings that show cables. He said they did, but that internet cables are supposed to be 60 centimeters deep at least, and these were closer to 30. No idea if that is true. They had to dig up some of my plants and they ripped out my neighbours holly tree. I am pretty sad about the tree and I can tell the birds are confused too. They were finished with digging on Tuesday at 17:00 and that is when I finally had water (and most importantly, access to a toilet) again. I guess they were pretty tired and done at that point, which I understand, but they left my hallway a mess. The guy said he would come back Wednesday afternoon to clean (as if I would leave it dirty for a whole day) and fix stuff in the basement, but he never did. They did repair everything outside again, though a few of my plants by the walkway are gone. It was very stressful and having no internet made my days pretty boring. They finally fixed the cable today around 11:45.
I did go for a walk yesterday morning, but it was really hot and I just couldn't relax, so I only went for a pretty short one. I did a bit of reading, lots of outside time with Tinus, some gardening and a bit of puzzle time. Let's also just say it was a challenge to keep my food on point. This is exactly the type of situation that would make me throw good choices out of the window. I am pretty impressed that I didn't let that happen. Anyway, back to 'fun' posts tomorrow. Happy Thursday everyone

Sorry to hear about all the utility trouble @Pupowl — how frustrating! 😖 You handled it well! 🙌
Welcome back @CasandraW! Thanks for sharing the photos! That water looks cold 🥶 I appreciate everyone sharing photos - e.g., @izzyred9400, @Pupowl, etc.). It’s so nice to get a glimpse of the scenery and local environments around the world!

(2 / 4 Days)
Sunday: Did great all day .. extra cardio 13k steps and afterwards I felt the need to loosen my muscles and crank up the hot tub. Is it just me or is hot-tubbing an activity that you just can’t do without alcohol??
Monday: Didn’t really log my food until the day was almost done.
~ I increased my exercise goal to 1 hour daily but since then I’ve noticed my calorie burn has lowered. Sooo NOT the point I was trying to make! Lol but anyway.. I’m going to dust off my old polar heart rate monitor and start using it again, that should help keep my heart rate in the calorie burn zone the entire time I’m on the treadmill
Tuesday: Husband started the keto diet with me. He’s being very strict about it, minus the light beer he drinks every day after work(around 3-4)
Wednesday’s Weight Check: ~ Ive been weighing every day keeping my emotions out of it. Ive learned to look at the scale as purely a scientific tool to figure if what I ate yesterday worked for me or worked against me. It seems I’m still progressing downward as of today..3 - Track / Under Cs / 1HrExercise ?

Good morning Shape Shifters. It was really warm again yesterday and there were sooo many mosquitoes in the forest. My new bug spray works well though, so I was happy about that. I made sure the walk I did was almost entirely in the forest and not in the sun so it was alright.
I had a shower when I got home, biked into town to check my emails and catch up with my mom and then got some groceries. I read some in my new book in the morning and then finally a guy showed up to fix my internet cable around 11:40. I was very glad to be online again. I also did a lot of work in the garden: weeding, mowing in the backyard, pulling all the grass/weeds/plants from between the tiles. It was quite exhausting, but I was 'in the mood' for it so better take advantage of that while I could.
The hedgehogs are eating in the new house every day so I regularly refill their food bowl and clean up inside the house. That gives me some hope that they are using the second house as well. I am not checking on that one though, since it is meant as a nesting place and I just stuffed it full with hay. Happy Friday everyone4 -
The daily card:Our days are filled with responsibilities and tasks and it is common to feel that we don't have enough time for ourselves in our over-scheduled lives. You can cultivate "me time" by establishing mindfulness in your body through a steady awareness of your breath or your posture. This gives you the super power of making all time your time. No matter what you're doing, if you are able to stay connected to some aspect of your physical experience, you can be present around the clock.4

@Pupowl you always find such interesting things on your walks!
I'll be working in the garden at our "retirement" home today. I've put it off because we want to get it landscaped, but it's taking sooo long just to get quotes from contractors that I have to do something, it's looking kinda rough. There's one pricker bush that is over 2 ft tall 🥺 my gloves aren't meant for that!! I'd post it's picture but I can't figure out how. 🙃
Have a great day everyone!4 -
@DaffyGirl88 Thank you I think it helps that I often walk with my camera, so even when I just have my phone, I am always looking around. I find it makes the walks more enjoyable as well; to look for fun things and be aware of what is around you. Good luck with the gardening. It is so hard to keep an outdoor space tidy. I like working in my garden, but I hate it at the same time because I can never seem to keep up with it.5

I finally have a bit more time and head space to get back to working on my nutrition. Started back to tracking my food on Monday and had 3 calorie deficit days. I have a couple events coming up in June that I'd like to feel comfortable in my clothes for, so using those as short-term motivation to get adjusted to better habits.
@pupowl, I love reading your daily updates and seeing beautiful photos! My youngest and I got out and did some gardening last night. I hate gardening when the mosquitoes are out, but we needed to weed and it was very satisfying pulling out a bunch of the dandelions. We then went to the thrift store and had some fun looking for a few pieces for a costume for an upcoming musical theatre performance.
Happy Friday, everyone!

I’m in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend for my daughter’s college graduation. How did time pass so quickly?! I’m so happy she’ll be moving close to me in Florida. Being away from my routine this weekend will be tough; I normally don’t do great when I’m away from my routine. But I will have to be extra diligent and mindful.5 -

It's kinda surreal, tonight I will be going out to the bar with my daughter to celebrate her closest friend Trinity's 18 birthday, Trinity's Mom and I met when the girls went to pre-school together and all of us have stayed close friends since. We'll be dropped off and picked up by my dad just like back in the day when he would make sure I made it safe to and from an evening out with my friends! I'm looking forward to showing these girls our old school dance moves lol5 -

Good morning everyone. Hope all had a good week. Mine has been a struggle, my mom hasld a hip replacement on Tuesday so I've been with her everyday. Missed my workout Tuesday and Wednesday, got a short run yesterday and about to head out for a workout this morning before heading back to my mom's. My diet has been crap unfortunately, my oldest nephew lives with my mom, and he is watching his siblings while their parents are out of town, so it's been hecktic and stressful there trying to keep their kids behaving, ugh. Also they are the most unhealthy people I know so when they brought the kids there they brought a ton of food as well, only thing healthy was 6 heads of lettuce 🤷♀️ and some ground beef. Mainly it's cookies, chips, soda, and sugary drinks. So if been munching, ugh. I have been making meals there though, so Dinners have been relativly healthy. But I'm going to go to the store today I thing and get something better then the crap they brought. Maybe I'll make lettuce wraps, haha3
-
Also I would like to join back in on the step challenge. The next week won't be the best as I'm still at my mom's but after that they should be back to normal for me

@jessicakrall8 - I'll need to be excused next weeks' weight-in as I'm going out of town (5/7-5/12) and won't have access to scale. Going on a vacation with my mother, daughter and a few other family members for a Mother's day getaway in Mexico.3 -
