I do not use those I use a TRX for most body weight only exercises. Super easy to use and travel with. Can use it on a door a permanent hook in a garage and or you can throw it over a tree and use it. So you can use it anywhere and find lots of exercises on line as well.0 -
sounds lightweight and convenient. i don't think i could throw my cable machine or our rack over a tree LOLOL
the bar in front is our new bells of steel arch nemesis - it's a cambered swiss bar. came yesterday, so far, has proved to be much easier on wrists and shoulders for deadlifts and overhead presses.

That’s a sweet piece of machinery I am a bit jelly2 -
does anyone here use a battle rope? if so, is it more a cardio thing? could you use a weighted jump rope and get a similar effect? i have limited space and am curious...
am considering walking up and down the driveway with the open trap bar - it's a block long, 8% incline up one way, down obviously the same but decline the other. our condo doesn't really have space for farmers walks with the open trap bar - i've been using dumbbells, but i love the open trap bar. not sure how my legs will do on the incline with the 44 additional pounds for a block.0 -
I just lost my news feed today. 😕2

No feed for me anymore, gone last night.0

Just back from CA visiting granddaughter. My feed disappeared our first day there. Someone said it disappears if you have nothing to record to it (I had that turned off) or don’t record a workout to MFP diary. Makes sense, since I didn’t record any workouts and then it went poof.
@zebasschick i do battle ropes occasionally, when forced to, because I hate those fecking things. I don’t think a weighted jump rope would be similar. They are very thick, much longer than an jump rope, and evenly weighted the entire length.
My old trainer did order a “female” sized rope, which was slightly lighter, thinner, and much easier to hold onto with smaller hands
I’d rather do anything than battle ropes. I’d suggest trying a rope out before investing in one.
Tune out now, gentlemen.
If you have any issues with incontinence, not the gym gear for you. I don’t normally, and they still affect me that way.2 -

Hello Pals
Glad we are at least trying , it takes a good bit of time to , for lack of a better term “gel”
and become a cohesive group , but since these comments are shared and we can all read them , maybe catching up with one another will work very well.2 -

Has anyone tried MFP free plans? I'm going to try one for the first time. I chose intermittent fasting to help me stop night snacking. To be honest I never used the extras of this site only logging and the news feeds to cheer for everyone.2

i've only used my free account. none of the extras they charge for are of any interest to me. i like to log food, create foods and exercises, log exercises, and now the sadly missed newsfeeed and activity feeds are gone, i spend a little time in the groups and on the forums.1 -
I still have my newsfeed buy lost a few friends who decided to go, I tried loseit and MyNetDiary which was good it the terms stated they might use your info world wide so I bottled out. Here works for me .0
-
i didn't like mynetdiary for social, and for my needs, it's hard to beat MFP for logging. over half my friends - and at a guess, at least a hundred other MFPers - headed over to LoseIt, which is now socially probably the best such site/app going, although just like everything, it has its issues. i've been posting both here and there for two weeks.2

@zebasschick thank you. Does anyone here do Tai Chi?1

after carrying a 15 pound dumbbell from one hand to the other during a recent treadmill walk, i decided to order a weighted vest. that way i won't have to keep moving the weight from one hand to the other while the empty hand helps keep my balance...1

i've used them before. if you find one that fits well - some aren't great for people with larger pecs or boobs - they're effective for getting your heartrate up and adding overall effort to walking and jogging, and for those with average or weak legs, walking with them can help build some muscle as well as strength in the ankles.
mine is listed as delivered but is missing, and amazon says to wait 2 days before reporting it...

When I was practicing for the Camino de Santiago (for April 2020 😢) I used a backpack with canned goods equal to the weight I planned to pack.
@1AncientSage i tried tai chi for about a year to please my husband, but it was the physical equivalent of running nails down a chalkboard for me. I finally put my foot down and told him “you do you. I do aquafit for you, but I cannot abide tai chi.” He still goes twice a week and loves it.
Ever since a kid, I’ve been fussed at for being too quick a mover. Tai chi was torture.
I invest that hour in another power yoga class. 🤷🏻♀️2 -
@springlering62 I am finding it is an acquired taste. I am not only learning the forms but I am also learning how those forms are self defense. My teacher always says Tai Chi isn't slow ...practicing Tai Chi
is slow.1 -
tai chi's not a taste i ever acquired, although i didn't give it half as long as spring did. i have friends who absolutely love doing it.2

What exercises are your favorites ?1

I'd have to say when the snow conditions are good, cross country skiing.1

so i tried a weighted vest, but it obviously wasn't made for busty women, so i tried another one. it was... an okay fit, but backwards, it was a perfect fit LOL
i tried it today on a treadmill walk, but 8 pounds wasn't enough weight. i'll try working my way up to a heavier weight...1 -
Hi all.1

Hi everyone! I'm back lol. I fell off the wagon and got some bumps and bruises, but will be sticking to my fitness goals. I guess that is part of the journey...the bumps along the way. The ultimate goal...just keep going lol! Anyway, this feed is a tad challenging, but I'm going to make an effort to check in daily.
I weighed in at 134.1 this morning. Bummer because I got down to 131.9, but my boyfriend came home after being out for a month for work. On top of that...4th of July. So...getting back to it!
My goal this week is to get back to 131.9 by Monday morning. Here I go!
Have a great week!1
