Do you have a pet? Yes, my dog Arnie. He’s a Labrador/Poodle/Great Pyrenees mix. I adopted him from our local shelter. He’s my walking buddy.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? Maintain my current fitness level while following a sensible eating plan to continue my weight loss.
How would your pet or friend describe you? My dog would tell you that I’m the greatest human ever, while my friends would say I can be counted on to help them whenever necessary.

I live in Prince George, which is Northern Interior of British Columbia. One of the things I love most about PG is we have all 4 seasons and there is a definite difference in each one. Im hoping this year we don't have alot of forest fires. We have lost enough of our beautiful forest to them already.
Do you have a pet? I have a labradoodle named Dexter and he has more attitude and personality than another other dog I have seen. He is awesome around children.
I also have 3 goldfish named Goldie, Phantom, and Noname yet.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season?
I want to work more on my fitness. Getting more exercise and feeling better. I also want to get into Onderland during this challenge.

What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. Born and raised in Los Angeles. After moving up, down, and east, settled a few hundred miles north and on the west coast.
Do you have a pet? Not anymore. Like cats, but feed the wild birds (and unintentially possums, raccoons, and skunks).
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Keeping my blood sugars and weight within healthy limits, and being physically fit. My LTG is to exercize 5 minutes more today, than I did yesterday until I feel I’m at my best.

~ I have been doing the 5% challenges since 2011 or so.

~ Although I did not start when it was initially organized, once I joined, I stayed. I cannot and did not count the amount.
What do you like to do for fun?
~ I am learning how to crochet which is fun and keeps my hands busy. I love to play games like Words (Scrabble) and other games on my iPad. I enjoy working out in the garden. Another thing that I enjoy doing is finding new places when I drive around.

~ I live about a 35 minute drive away from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our little town - Almonte - is very quaint and a number of movies have been made in the town. We have a natural water fall right in the middle of the town, we enjoy quite a number of parks, restaurants, and for a little town, we have quite a number of activities going on. We love living here.

Do you have a pet? Sadly, not any more. I have had kitties since I was in college but after my last 2 passed away 2 years ago we haven't had any.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season? I started a mission in September to lose 30% of my body weight. To date, I have lost 20%! My goal for this season is to try to lose another 5% towards my bigger goal. Additionally, I am working on adding more resistance training to my work outs to try and minimize the amount of muscle I am loosing.
How would your pet or friend describe you? Loyal, serious, always there when you need me.

Summer July 20, 2024 5% Challenge

I learned about these challenges while on SparkPeople and joined in the Fall of 2010.
I get great pleasure in participating in numerous small groups. I knit prayer shawls for four churches. I enjoy walks in nature and on the waterfront, as well as feeding birds and other small critters.
Northern Wisconsin and Southwestern Florida. With all our back and forth, we have no pets or indoor plants. I've had a request for a slip from a silk African Violet. Fun!
Count me in for providing thirty minutes of fitness daily, which amounts to 210 miles weekly.
Friends would say I have a compassionate heart.
I finished two prayer shawls (basically half afghans or blankets) and have two more two-thirds completed. I’ve also completed 45 jigsaw puzzles in 2024.
I love watching the history lessons I get with Rachel Maddow, likely my favorite television program. I also enjoy Morning Joe (and his wife, Mika).
During the summer I love walking Billings Park, feeding chipmunks on my lap and inviting chickadees to eat peanuts out of my hand. One of my grandkids loves to join me. My favorite exercises include walking, qi gong (healing tai chi), chair and bed stretches. If I had a choice, I’d wash a car. Time with Dan and doing things together cheer me up.
Fitness tip. Just do it. Modify it to meet your personal fitness needs and gradually work up to standards that meet your physical and mental health. Food tip: Nothing is off limits, but do try to grow in food knowledge and a greater variety of unprocessed foods, adding an occasional meat-free meal.

- I'm from Illinois, but I now live in Ann Arbor, MI where the University of Michigan is located. I really like this small city! It's slightly hilly here so I jog along the river where it is flat.
Do you have a pet?
- Not right now. We lost our beloved Labrador retriever about 15 months ago. We will probably get another dog when my heart has mended a bit more.
What are you health/fitness goals for this season?
- (1) lose some weight - 5 lbs would be beautiful; (2) work my jogs up to 4+ miles; (3) eat and be as healthy as possible.

We get al 4 seasons snow in the winter, coloured leaves falling from the trees , snow melting and new leaves on the trees, and warm sunny summers. You can definately tell when one season ends and the next starts. The smell, feel, temperature it tells all.

2 fun things about you? I am fearless. I started a new business at the age of 64. I have grown it successfully and I am ready to sell and go to my next challenge. I am starting a new business at 71 to help businesses and people manage their finances to live a Happy and Wealthy Day.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? Consistency. We are each unique so we each need to find what works for us and our body. Plus it changes as we age. I have to consistently do IF 18:6 - where I only eat between noon and 6PM. I eat healthy Keto but have been shifting to increase the protein and decrease the fat targets.
Anything else you would like to share? Accountability makes a big difference. Helps when we work to keep help the team as well as ourselves. Encouragement always helps.
