I was able to get my 1 mile in last night. My challenge is getting it in on my work days Tuesday through Thursday. I’m retired but watch my 1 1/2 year old granddaughter. I’m too tired to do it before at 515 and too tired after. But last night I did it with the help of this group. You all have commitments and manage to get it done so I put my big girl pants on and just did it. Honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I need to ignore my inner negative voice more often. This is supposed to be the last gross humid day and it’s supposed to break. Happy Tuesday everyone.

I was able to get 1 mile in today. Not a Leslie workout. A stroller walk in the park with Miriam, but at least I got something done. I have a community event to go to tonight so no time when I get home. The park was my substitute. Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

1 mile is still 1 mile with or without Leslie or any other walk leader.

Yesterday, I was busy running around and that carried over to today. I'll try and boost myself into an evening walk instead. It feels like the humidity is on the downward slide now and a stiff breeze is kicking up.

Oh my gosh is it lovely!! Our high today is 71, but here in the woods is it hovering at a beautiful 68F and no humidity. The windows are open and my house smells so fresh and clean!!! It was a great day to work out in front of my slider!
Yesterday was a bust for me, but really great news for Dennis!!! He had his 6 week check-up with his orthopedic surgeon and his knee is bending to 115 degrees and his gait is "perfect!" He has no numbness anywhere and his quad has gained back all of its strength and his left leg is perfectly straight! As a result, he has OK'd him to have his right knee replaced after his 3 month check up for the left one in October!!!!! He is so psyched!!! It was worth it to do all our appointments yesterday even though I did not get a workout in. We are going to have a low key holiday season while he recovers, but we have both decided this winter, we are going to get healthy and strong so we can climb our favorite mountain in the spring for the first time in 6 years!!!! It has been a goal since we retired here and it is in sight!!! :drinker:
Oh my gosh @lclark04957 I am with @Deeder522 on this one!! If you are taking care of an 18 month old 3 days a week, you need a step tracker because you are no doubt doing way more than a mile on those days without Leslie!!!! When my boys were that age, I was skinny as a rail because I had no time to eat and was running all the time trying to keep up with them!!! I say just log "Took Care of an 18 moth old! 1+ Miles" and be done with it!
So much of this is really just pulling up big girl pants and doing it. You are right about that. On days when I say to myself, "OK, you do not have to do it all, but you can do ANYTHING for 5 minutes," I always do whatever the task is for more then 5 minutes. I keep my whole house clean using this method!!!
I am going to go out on my porch with a glass of wine and read my heavy book (strength training) while the weather is perfect because it will change soon enough! Til tomorrow!

Great advice !! I’ll just keep moving, whatever I can when I can and log it. No Leslie today. It’s been a long time but tomorrow I’m going to attempt a 30 minute workout to right the ship.

I ended up with a pretty busy day, but I talked Ryan into doing 1 lap around the farm after dinner. A walk outside with no heat and no humidity was wonderful. The corn has tripled in height since the start of the month.

@zichab Congrats to Dennis on getting the go-ahead on the other knee.

You're going to do great with that 30 min workout @lclark04957

@deeder522-Wonderful news about Ryan!!! Good for him! It is so nice to walk in the fresh air and I love the smell of walking through a corn field. We used to hide in the corn when we were kids and you never forget the smell of it.
Go for it @lclark04957! With a warm up and cool down, 30 minutes goes by fast.
We are getting a wood delivery on Monday so I shall be getting lots of miles for the next week or two. It is work, but so enjoyable come -15F this winter! Til tomorrow-enjoy the beautiful weather!

@Deeder522 I LOVE corn. I’ve never walked or smelled a corn field but I love to eat it. The season is very short here but I take advantage of it when it’s here. Easily a half dozen for supper, every day, until it’s over.
@zichab . Just seeing the news about Dennis and his knee. Fantastic news. And for sure, wood is work!!
Finished Leslie Miracle Mile early today and now relaxing with a book. Beautiful day, no humidity. Have a great evening.

I was super sluggish yesterday but I bounced back today. 1 mile at the park this morning. I'm very glad I made it this morning because I was able to get several pictures of a Great Blue Heron that was in one of the ponds. πŸ˜„
I had lunch with a friend this afternoon and now, I'm ready to settle in for a calm night at home.

    July Goals

    Total mileage tracked: 51 / 80
    Apple Challenge: 18 workouts of 5 min or more. 8 / 18

I did 1 mile with Leslie this morning and a 5-minute arm training from my Pinterest page. I'm looking to try and complete 2 Leslie miles by the weekend.
Ry is doing a little better, and we are discussing what else he may try to add to his diet. He said he'd like to be able to eat chili again but baby steps on that. I'd like to see if pinto or black beans will be accepted.

I did 1 mile up at the park this morning. We have a little thunderstorm happening now and for tomorrow, so I'm probably looking at a YouTube workout in the morning.

    You're doing great @lclark04957!!

@Deeder522 . Thank you. You are doing awesome too. I’ve got a handle on my exercising again. Now I need to focus on my snacking. I can have a fantastic supper and an hour later I’m raiding the cupboard. I made myself a goal he rest of the week to not do that and see how it goes. 🀞

Yesterday, I did 1 20 min with Improved Health. My ankle felt a little wonky this morning, so I focused on strength training instead. Maybe I can get a walk-in later when my ankle works itself out.

Ugh, @lclark04957 , I hear you on the snacking. I struggle to get enough protein in for the day and I'm more carb-friendly than I should be. I'll be picking up some fixings for a salad today.

@zichab How are you doing other in the hills of NY?

@Deeder522 . Nice work on the walk. I usually talk myself out of it by evening. No aerobics yesterday but 3 miles on the Fitbit throughout the day.
@zichab … miss you. I hope all is well.

Did a 1 mile walk around the farm tonight. Saw a flock of Sandhill Cranes fly over, and the cows were out making some noise too.
I sat too much during the day for me not to do a couple of laps. Especially, after watching Ryan do his PT work this afternoon. πŸ˜‰

The Olympics have officially started and I'm looking forward to watching Team USA. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I'm back! I hope! I got what I thought was COVID but it tuned out to be a summer cold!!! :grumble: I have not had one of those since I quit teaching face-to-face summer classes!!!! Oh my gosh they are the worst. I tried to work out Friday, but I could not do it. Today was OK, but I did pace myself for sure!
How lucky you are to see a great blue heron @Deeder522 ! We see one occasionally here, but they hide so well they are hard to spot. I hope you can find a way for Ryan to have chili. It is so hard to crave something and know it will make you sick.
WOW @lclark04957 ! You are doing great! I struggle with the nighttime snacking as well. I do not know when this habit started, but I need to stop it as well. In fact, that may be one of my goals for August.
Thank you both for your concern about me and this time, it was warranted as there was a virus in these hills that got me! Sadly, the wood pile is still there! That will have to be my August goal!ll!

@zichab yikes! A cold that feels as bad as Covid sounds horrible but glad you are getting better. An August goal of no nighttime snacking sounds good to me. I might give that a try. My exercising is good, eating not so much. But I’ll get through July first.

There was no real workout yesterday or today. However, our dishwasher went on the fritz, so I had to do a completely full dishwasher load by hand. Dishwashing is one of my least favorite household chores. So aggravating. I'll be calling the service center in the morning. It's only 2 years old too.

Glad to hear it's only a summer cold and not COVID-19. I hear there is a summer wave of COVID-19 working its way through places.

Not time snacking is where I usually overdo it on the carbs. πŸ€” Helps with the stress but not the waistline. 🀣

Well, with 3 days left in the month, my mileage goal looks just in reach..maybe. πŸ€” I might be able to pull off my Apple challenge to. It will be close.

This morning, I did 2 10 min workouts. 1 Fast Mile with Leslie, which is never a mile tracked for me. lol, Then I did a 10-minute walking with weights from Improved Health.

Oh @Deeder522, my heart goes out to you! I have had 2 dishwasher quit on me with a full-full load of dishes and it is beyond aggravating!!! I LOATH washing dishes and when Dennis and I got married I told him we will never have a house without a dishwasher! I will go to a laundromat, but washing dishes is a divorce activity!!!
You are doing really well @lclark04957! Sometimes, all it takes it to be held accountable by other walking people! Does Fitbit track miles or just steps?
Now I do not feel so bad! Our chimney sweep came today to finish up installation of our new flue and he said he had this same cold as I did only his went to pneumonia! I am so grateful to have dodged that bullet.
Whenever I think something is getting out of control, like my wine habit, or my nighttime eating habit, or my "I'll do the housework tomorrow" habit or my "I am not thirsty habit" etc etc etc, I make a monthly goal of it and that seems to help a lot. Like I have done Dry choose a month, or November Nighttime snack ban etc and oddly it draws my attention to it. Obviously, it does not stop the habit cold forever since I still like my evening wine and I do not always meet my water goal, but it does remind me how many calories I am mindlessly putting down and maybe I should cool it? :blushing:
By the way, that 2 mile Steel Series Walk on Leslie's page is a good one. The guy who leads it is fun!

15 minutes with Improved Health this morning.

After giving the dishwasher 2 nights off, I'm doing a trial run. Empty, no detergent either. We'll see how it goes. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ My Son having to find out he has to wash his own dishes asked if I wanted him to buy us a new one. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ The dishwasher is only 2 years old. This child (29yo) has lived in more luxury than he is aware of. 🀣🀣🀣

That is the truth about all of our children @Deeder522! Their lives have been totally covered by machines and well ... us! :blushing: My younger son's first apartment did not have a dishwasher and when he found out what that meant, after 6 months, he moved to a different apartment after eliminating all of them without a dishwasher!!
It is kind of odd that it would breakdown after only 2 years. Mine have all been at least 10 years old before they bit the dust and one was 24 years old! However, I had a brand new GE refrigerator break down after 4 months and the repairman came and changed the timer and it worked for over 20 years. We sold it with the house so who knows how long it lasted after that. Sometimes, things do happen to them early that are fairly simple to fix, but it is hard to know that before you call a repair person.
Man is it Hazy, Hot and Humid in the mountains today!!!!! We took our monthly trip to the transfer station and it was miserable!!! Thunderstorms are coming through later and it will be cooler tomorrow.
I am heading the the dentist tomorrow to get a filling (first one in 10 years and I am not looking forward to it!). I am not sure what my energy level will be like when I get home as it is a 3+ hour drive and back on top of the wonderful filling. Hopefully, I can get a workout in, even if it is only a mile. BTW, that 30 Minute Boosted Fitness Walk is awful! It is a bunch of spliced together sections that are not edited well at all. Avoid it! Til tomorrow!

I'm feeling low energy today. Maybe I'll make it for a sunset walk tonight instead. Probably not the strong finish to July that I wanted but Tomorrow is a new month!
