There's a website, https://www.futureme.org, that let's you type an email to yourself and specify the date you want it delivered. The website suggests this is good for:
❤️ Reliving memories in vivid detail
📈 Acknowledging growth & achievements
✅ Setting goals for the future
😌 Decluttering your mind to find some headspace
(You can of course do this without the website, by scheduling a delivery date in your email app.)
Anyway, here is the email I composed ~7 months into my weight loss journey to lose 100 pounds in one year, going from 330 to 230. It was quite a surprise when I later received it, having totally forgotten about it:Dear FutureMe,
What a struggle this has been. I am currently heavily tempted to enjoy some sweets. I hope you have reached our goal. If so, please have a dessert for me (but only if it's within our calorie limit).
If you haven't reached 230 pounds yet, don't give up. Keep going. I haven't sacrificed these past 7 months just to give up at the end.
Are you going to start maintaining at 230? Or is it possible to keep going? I guess that all depends on what the body scan shows.
Good luck!

Hi All
I'd like to share something I read about Vitamin DVitamin D — “D” as in depression and dementia. Vitamin-D deficiency is a major epidemic that flies under the radar of most doctors and public-health officials. In one study of elderly patients, those with the lowest vitamin-D levels were most likely to suffer from depression. We also know that vitamin-D levels drop precipitously in winter, contributing to seasonal affective disorder; taking vitamin D can prevent this. Supplementation beyond your multivitamin is essential unless you are spending all your time at the beach, eating 30 ounces of wild salmon a day or downing 10 tablespoons of cod liver oil a day!
Am I reading that right? 10 tablespoons? 👀

https://experiencelife.lifetime.life/article/comfort-food-for-your-brain/[/left]
I did a search about cod liver oilA common dose is often 1–2 tsp, but taking up to 1 tablespoon per day is usually safe. Higher doses are not recommended, as they would result in excess vitamin A intake (49Trusted Source).
Although cod liver oil is healthy, some people need to be cautious about their intake since cod liver oil can act as a blood thinner.

Alrighty! Turned out the internet issue was actually an issue with my laptop-- my dad dropped it and broke something. I have a new laptop now and should be able to check in more often ^_^

It's been a pretty hectic week. I had a few art exhibitions I submitted work to and the rush meant I was eating more takeout than usual. I have some time today though, so I'll be meal-prepping some better options for next week4 -

I’ve had one good month where both knees felt really good. Now my left knee is acting up and I’m afraid I have a torn meniscus. It feels like what I had in my right knee. I’m trying to stay off of it, which isn’t helping with getting exercise or cooking dinner. If it’s not getting better by midweek, I have a cortisone pack (that was prescribed for my right knee if needed) that I will try.7 -
Ugh, I completely forgot to weigh in, I will do it in the morning. But there's a reason I guess, as if my life wasn't crazy enough, my daughter was sick all week, and she has been hospitalized 4 times in the past from a cold, so I've been watching her close, she is good now. Then the other night, I got a call at 12:30am from my oldest son. He was driving home from work, and tells me he can see glowing under his car and he thinks his car is on fire. Then his brakes werent working, he had to use his E brake to stop hos car. He then called 911 and I drove to him with a fire extinguisher (I live 5 minutes away from where he was) well by the time I got there, his car was engulfed in flames. His car is gone, and my son was so upset, so I stayed with him until the fire was put out and it was towed away. So then I spent yesterday running errands and trying to find him a replacement car. Found one but it was 2 1/2 hours away so I spent today with my dad driving from Montana to Wyoming to pick up this car for $500. It needs a new belt tensioner, idle pully, and belt before it can be driven, but luckily he is a handy kid and we have a family of car people.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had another nice walk yesterday morning. It looked like it was going to rain, but there were only a few drops and it wasn't cold at all. I saw a bunch more mushrooms and had a good time. After a shower I went to the grocery store. I specifically went for two things and they didn't have either of the items so that was a pain. The day before they were out of broccoli as well. I can get very derailed when that happens, but this time I managed to get alternatives instead of throwing my entire plan out the window. I had my weekly phonecall with my mom, did laundry, the dishes and cooked. It felt like I was busy a lot. Happy Monday everyone6

@Pupowl please go ahead and put me back in as active today. I put my SW in the chart last week. Mondays are my weight days. Today’s weigh in is 325.2. I don’t want to wait til next week been working hard. Thanks!!

@jessicakrall8 Oh so sorry about that. I thought you were just early last week and wanted to come back in November. I asked in the Captains Lounge for you to be moved. Losing 12 pounds in one week is crazy!
@DaffyGirl88 You are welcome, I am glad people like the trackers.2 -

I did some more walking on the treadmill. I'm starting to get a little annoyed with my hip. I'm ready to run, but know my hip isn't ready quite yet. So it is what it is, even though I am a bit grumpy about it.
I also did some yoga yesterday. I would like to make that more a regular part of my day, but it's one of the things a struggle with consistency with. But I'm going to try again.
I have my food planned and some prep done for this week. If I can stay with my plan, I should have a good week.
Have a good week, everyone!5 -

@Pupowl I'm sure much of it was from the last of the swelling and water weight, but I've been a Saint all week with my eating, so didn't want to wait. Thanks for putting in the request.

@frankwbrown FYI...it is killing me that I broke my long 10k a day step streak because of this stupid swelling...also, won't be able to do this week's Halloween 3 mile walk...wish it could be divided into sections...no way I can do it all at once...still sore. Back to work today though and am down an incredible amount...feels good to be back at working hard. Cancelled all eating out, door dash crap, etc...so far, so good...
So, my friend, take a few steps for me on your Halloween walk...I'll be back joining you soon!

@PatriceFitnessPal Thank you. You have such a good attitude while taking care of your aging relatives. It can be so difficult to do when we are so busy with our own lives. It is such important work. You are so right. It is a privilege.
@frankwbrown I've never heard of futureme. That is wonderful! I'm going to check it out. Thank you for sharing.
@globalhiker Thanks. Perhaps it will help with your plateau:)
@pupowl "get back into a horse riding weight range" I completely identify with this!!! There have been vacations where I could not participate in certain activities, including horseback riding, because of my weight. As usual, I loved seeing your pictures. Being in nature is so calming. Even seeing the pictures is calming.
@Zaxa2021 Soups are so good. I love low-cal soups with lots of veggies. I make big batches and put single servings in the freezer. Then straight from the freezer to the microwave. I also have a hard time sticking to exercise. I don't understand why though.
@angmarie28 Oh my! That's so scary. I'm so glad that your son is okay. I'm glad your daughter is okay now too.3 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. I didn't have a great sleep yesterday. Trouble falling asleep, there was a very annoying mosquito that took forever for me to find and I woke up crying from a nightmare. When I got up in the morning, I had a nasty headache. It was raining most of the day, so I didn't manage to go for a walk. The slower start wasn't bad considering how I was feeling though. Thankfully the headache mostly went away after a few hours. I got my gym rings workout done and right after did a 41 minute cardio workout at home. Besides that it was a pretty relaxing day with lots of tea, laptime for Tinus and playing my horse game. Happy Tuesday everyone

The boys were tired and cranky yesterday so I squeezed in an extra walk to calm them a little. I also walked on the treadmill for 60 minutes.
While I am enjoying the treadmill walks more than I anticipated, I'm starting to miss running. I know my hip still isn't up for it, so I'm trying to be patient. I'm also starting to worry about being prepared for a 10k race I have planned in January. I'm hoping I'll be able to get back to training next week, but we'll see. I'm not feeling to optimistic about it right now.6 -
