Although I don't identify my wife the same way Al does, my answer is basically the same. Secondary answer is daily weighing.1

Honestly, it’s high readings on the scale. I made 90% good decisions on last weeks vacation, and don’t regret those choices. What I regret is that I didn’t stick the landing when I returned and get right back on track. 🤯0

Seeing TWO-ZERO-ZERO on the scale has been a consistent motivator. My downfall is that I need to be at 164ish to be in the normal range for BMI, but I tend to lose motivation after losing the first 8-10 pounds. I'm tempted to put a piece of masking tape across the scale readout and write in "200," borrowing @whathapnd's strategy of tracking but skipping the scale.1

350lbs 🤯 You saw that right. Weight yesterday was 342.4 Since my pacemaker in January of 2020 I was 303 then Aortic Valve replacement in February 2020 went back up alittle but then back down to 298 and then slowly back up till now 4 years later I'm doing my best to focus on getting it back down. I'm not sure but I think the Lasix has a lot to do with it.
Anyway I feel good and work everyday in my real estate Brokerage business with 13 Agents. I lead a very busy life. I do keep up with my steps everyday and now have home health care with a physical therapist and a visiting nurse to change my catheter out every 4 weeks. I've been full time catherized since spring of 2023.

Psychological pain and disgust with myself are usually what get me back in track. I don't think that's healthy, and I wish it wasn't true, but it is. It frequently starts with either seeing a picture of myself and being disgusted because I didn't realize how large I'd gotten or not having something to wear to an occasion/event that I feel good in.
I'm really working hard this time to have less negative self-talk and to treat myself/counsel myself the way I would someone else. It's actually making a difference, I think - - not in my rate of weight loss, but in my acceptance of the time and effort it will take me to get back to goal. When the voice in my head is more kind, I don't mind her being around.
@Brian_19, come visit me on the new "dark side" of not weighing weekly. Maybe you'll find it refreshing to just change things up for a few weeks?1 -
I don't do as well with "the straight and narrow" I need flexibility and some bend, otherwise I'll give up. Sometimes, the perfect is the enemy of the good. Black and white thinking is not my cuppa tea. So far it's working okay--the weight loss waltz of two steps forward and one step back.1

You doubtless would qualify for Medicare coverage of Ozempic if you and your doctor decide on that.0 -
I believe in tenacity. My unwillingness to give up is my primary motivation.1

I’m a creature of habits. And my current habits are reasonably good.
My ongoing and seemingly permanent challenge is point creep. I’m not going to lose it & spend 2 weeks eating pizza, ribs and chocolate cake. What I do is mostly over snack. Or sometimes fit too many treat like indulgences into a week. Eventually point creep leads to scale creep. But it’s a slow process.
That leads to another round of rationalizations while I wait for the new lbs to magically disappear. Then when they don’t I eventually get around to tracking.1
