I agree, I had the same reaction. I have actually been thinking about food way less this week. Just eating and moving on. More fruits and veg. The less complicated I can make things, the better.

Slow and steady wins the race. I made it to my HIIT class 3x this week, and I did a fair job of watching my portions.

Well, I believe I survived being sick for the last two weeks. Doctor put me on antibiotics, steroids, and cough medicine. I haven't had any energy for exercise, and I was making poor choices for meals. I'm going to start back into exercising this week so I can get my weight back down.

No weigh in for me this week! Currently sitting at the Cancun airport, wallowing. I'll see if I can attach a pic to this post of the view from my beachfront hotel room. I would say I 100% love Mexico, would do another all-inclusive for sure, but would maybe look to spend a little more at a boutique resort where the food is truly exceptional (food this week was hit or miss - some meals amazing, some eh). And I would not share a room with someone who snores like my friend/travel buddy lol.... thank god I had plenty of time to nap on the beach each day because actual sleep was a bit limited.
Loved catching up with posts just now. I agree with some of the anti-christmas sentiments. December flies by and I would much prefer to have some time to reflect on my year before the new one starts, but that usually doesn't happen!!
I don't relish getting on the scale next week. I think I should actually check it tomorrow morning and survey the damage of 12 passionfruit margaritas a day, so I can ease myself into actual weigh-in next Friday.

And one more thing - became obsessed with coatis! They were all over the resort and so freakin cute. They are a diurnal cousin of the racoon.arm18hf6k5tr.jpg

Honestly, I am pleased with this overall given the week I had. I drove about 4 1/2 hours on Monday to get to my first location for an in-person meeting with a team I support. We were in a meeting all day on Tuesday so very little time to move. I did workout on Tuesday morning though, ahead of my meeting. Then, on Wednesday, I drove 2 hours further south for my next meeting, and spent all day in the office catching up on emails and work from the prior day. Thursday was my second all-day meeting with another team I support. At this point, I am getting increasingly tired from my meetings and trying to stay ahead of emails and work, so I walked on a treadmill for an half hour, just to get some movement in. After the meeting, it was a 5 1/2 hour drive home. I got back around 8, quickly had soup leftovers for dinner, and passed out. Then I had to go into another office for a work meeting on Friday, so it was an early morning again.

This time of year is always chaos for me. Luckily, next week I have just two of these meetings, and I don’t have to drive 5+ hours to them.

For food, I ordered salads with proteins for my dinners (except one night I wanted a chicken sandwich), had water (and one Heineken 0.0), and protein snacks to keep me going. I really like the Quest Spicy Cheese Crackers. They have 10g of protein, and were a great addition to the catered lunches.

I made relatively healthy choices nutritionally, so I am relieved that the number wasn’t a bigger jump, and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is also water retention/stress from my week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

@fourathomej - don't blame you about being exhausted, working at Hallmark can't be easy this time of year.
@Gidgitgoescrzy - great work this week

@MaddawgMadsen - great job limiting alcohol this week.

@Kali225 - welcome back. Those pics seem dreamy

@wishfuljune wow what a week you've had. Great job sticking with healthier options

Christmas is on my mind too as I need to be more prepared because I'm off to Texas the week before Christmas for a wedding and coming back on the 23rd. I try not to put pressure on myself as my husband's family doesn't celebrate Christmas, but do have them over for brunch and exchange a few small gifts for the kids. My side of the family is so large that gift giving is out of the question, instead we do a family activity and play games when we get together.

Not sure if it's just me but I really don't want gifts that are going to collect dust and contribute overconsumption. I have a few things I want to replace or that are consumables but overall, I try not to want or give gifts that are not meaningful or useful. Not sure what your thoughts are on Christmas.

@cleaneater80 I try to do a combination of gift types. I love giving books to my nieces. I also try to do some experience things. One year I gave them a year membership to the local aquarium.

@wishfuljune great choices while you were traveling!

I forgot to weigh myself yesterday (I weigh daily) and this morning got a very rude awakening. Time to get back and focus, no stopping on the way to work to get candy.

I have been busy this morning, went to a christmas bazaar at a local church (just browsed), returned some items to home depot, and then crashed and took an hour nap. It was amazing! Just finished lunch and heading out to work in the yard!

Hubby is doing better. He still can't put any weight on his left leg, and is still suffering from being a man who had surgery. His grandma is having surgery tomorrow, so his mom hasn't been coming. So that means I am waking him up before work to make him breakfast, come home on lunch to make him lunch, and then come home from work and cook dinner. I should have hired a maid and cook if I knew his mom wouldn't be able to come over!
What kind of surgery did he have? Does he get up at all to use the bathroom? If so, he’s capable of making his own lunch, or at least getting it out of the fridge if you put leftovers together for him. A kneeling scooter or crutches of some sort would allow that much movement. Having worked in Orthopaedics years ago, I don’t have as much patience as I used to for post-surgical shenanigans. We get run down believing we have to do all of the care live-time, rather than setting our loved ones up with options that don’t inconvenience ourselves to the max.
I hope things have gotten easier for you, Lauren. I also hope he appreciates all that you do and expresses his gratitude. 🩷

@EvMakesChanges he had a labrum repair on his hip with some bone shaved down. He is doing a lot better with pain, but is still no weight bearing on his left leg. He is hopping around on crutches, but I need you here to yell at him to do his own stuff! He could get some food and eat standing at the counter, and today he got his own snack lol. He has a follow-up appointment and PT tomorrow.

Our team had another rough week last week, only 22% in the green! What are some of your struggles right now? Anything the team can help with?

I have been back on track for 2 days now...not sure I will be in the green this week, but I'm hoping!

@lauren_989 - Good luck to your husband and his follow up appointment tomorrow!

For me, I guess suggestions on how to get movement in when my days are jammed with work would be helpful.

    Good evening Waistaways 🥰

    CW 243.0lbs *sigh*

I guess I don't have enough will power at the moment 😢 As soon as things go right, something happens and things go wrong 😢
I've had a very expensive and stressful weekend 😢 My son needed £800 deposit for his University lodgings next year. I did find the money but that was savings for Christmas, so small blow. I will do overtime at work and it will be OK 😊
Tonight my husband found a txt message from his doctor, that was sent on Friday. The doctor said that my husband's blood test for triglycerides was very high. To contact them on Monday morning. Shaun is scared, but we will find out next steps...

Life is rubish at the moment but still... Could be worse I guess...

@lauren_989 good luck to your husband 🥰

@strong_fit_ells you must be the hardest working person I know, I feel like your hours for work are so long all the time! It's really difficult to put that much effort into work and then also try to lose weight. I'm sure the medical news for your husband is no help - but if I can offer an anecdote, when one of my younger brothers went to college for the first time, he was eating terribly and drinking a lot. When he had a checkup over school break, his triglycerides were very high, especially for his age. But, with just a little focus on diet, eliminating drinking for a bit, less condiments/sauces/sources of just plain old fat - he got them down pretty quickly, and he's still not a trim guy by any means. So hopefully the doc can point to some dietary changes instead of any major underlying issue.

I'm having a pretty good Sunday, although not mentally prepared to go back to work tomorrow. I am going to have so many emails. Hopefully it helps the day pass quickly.

I did finish my 6 week workout challenge before vacation, which felt great. I am going to start an organized deload week for this week and then hopefully another 4 or 6 week program to head into the holidays.

Big meal prep win for the day - on the last night in Mexico, we went to the resort's steakhouse, and it was great. The best part of the meal, surprisingly, was a broccoli cauliflower puree that really blew us away! I am such a baby about getting certain veggies into my diet, so it was a great surprise. Today, I tried to recreate it and I think I got darn close! This honestly tastes kind of like mashed potatoes with a bunch of herbs and a bit of butter and cream. Lmk if anyone wants the recipe.

I did well with not buying anything at the break room this week. (It is debit card only, so I quit taking my wallet with me). It was pretty rainy here this week so I didn’t hit my step goal every day, but most of the week I did well.
My goals this week will be continuing to not buy extra snacks from the break room as well getting in my steps daily. This week I will be adding drinking more water. I have a new package of Cirkul coming with some new flavors to try.
Good luck to everyone this week!

@lauren_989 recipe is based on this one: https://ihackeddiabetes.com/mashed-broccoli-cauliflower/#recipe

But instead of mashing as directed, I put everything into a food processor and let it get super pureed. I served it with a little bit of butter on top (like mashed potatoes) and salt to taste.
