No walking today. I slept in and am enjoying a quiet rest day! The rain is off and on today. When I thought about walking the rain started so I had peanut butter toast and coffee instead!!
Tomorrow looks good. Maybe the post office if we get a bill in the mail today...we'll see.
The kids are going to Monterey for three days so we'll have Bean. We had a couple of appointments Mon & Tues and had to think about how to do them without leaving the dog by himself. Poor guy is getting so old...
Going to read and eat popcorn now.

I got 5.20 miles done in 103 mins to the Ruins and back. It was pretty nice out there. Not too many folks out. I was surprised. Tomorrow I'll do the same thing. I thought about going to the Passion Flowers but I'm not sure the dirt will be dry, and I don't want to do what I did last time it was muddy.
The kids are on a trip down to Pacific Grove. The pictures are pretty cute!! We have Bean for three days. Pat is doing Bean's dinners and breakfasts. We have to try different meals to get the poor guy to eat. Pat browned up some hamburger and mixed it with his dry dog food. That guy scarfed it down sooo fast! He's gotten so old and turned into a picky eater, but we'll do whatever we have to so he'll eat.
Well, I have to go do dishes then I'm gonna read and that's my evening!
Chris0 -
Chris I still think of Bean as a puppy. I remember how it got to hot for him outside with his black coat. Glad you were able to get him to eat. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
I have had my schedule turned around a bit. Keep having migraines! Worked out for an hour on Thursday with my trainer. Sounds so Chris. Then at a class. That was Saturday. Sore from my arms to my calves.
Cleaned my tanks yesterday. Put my frag rack in the tank. Was able to move some coral frags off the sand bed. One is a nice blue.
Shopped for supplies to make a pie. Yummy.

Too much fun and booze in the cruise but I enjoyed every bit of it. I thought it would be worse but I guess the steps we got in daily helped. Always between 10k and 15k except one day when we had only 9k. Up early this morning to start exercising. Hoping to lose a pound or 2 before the end of the
Month. Going to be a busy week. Grocery store, cooking, unpacking and laundry.

Shelley, it's so sad to see Bean hurting like he is. I stayed with Bean this morning while Pat went to our hearing aid guy to have our hearing aids cleaned. There was a comment about make-up and hairspray on mine... We don't want to leave Bean by himself. Pat has a doctor's appt tomorrow morning for his shoulder and I'll stay with Bean until he gets home and walk after that.
We have rain this morning...suppose to stop around 1:00 then I'll have to see how I feel about walking in the wet and wind. Maybe. I am going to make soup this afternoon.
That's it for now.
Chris1 -
Shelley - Hope your migrainea subside and you get some relief.
I didn't get to exercise yesterday. Had great intentions for the day got away from me. I made my cranberry sauce so that is done.
I went to the chiropractor for a very needed adjustment. My knees been bugging me a bit. Probably from the extra pounds
We did go out to dinner with our friends last night which was nice to catch up with them. I hadn't seen them in a bit.
I do plan on going to sunrise yoga to hear this morning. Tons to do today to prep for Thanksgiving. We're having 12 people. Why my husband picked up a 25 lb turkey I have no idea lol :-) I guess the leftovers. He is getting surgery on his hand tomorrow so he will be out of commission. It's going to be a lot on me this next week. Trying to be kind and gentle to my sauce :-)
I did schedule a massage for myself today which I'm super excited about. I know it will really help.
Hope everybody has a great Tuesday!
Karen1 -
Karen, I always have great intentions...walk after Collin is picked up...yeah, nope! And you make your own cranberry sauce? Wow! I'm impressed!! Did I tell you that I don't cook any more except my chicken bean soup? That's it!
Pat had an appt this morning. I stayed w/Bean until he got home then went out and did 5.63 miles in 116 mins toward the mountain and back.
The kids got back from their trip and p/u Bean just now. It was really great to see everyone!
I'm going to slug down coffee and read now.
Chris0 -
Chris,
More hugs for Bean. I too remember when he first became your grandpuppy.
Paula0 -
So nice to catch up on you all. Lots of Holiday plans I see.
Chris I wish him luck with his surgery. And your dinner party will be a success in that new kitchen. Enjoy
Paula we have been doing this modern day pen pal since forever. I love reading about the little things.
Kathy so glad you are back at it. I know you got this.
Chris it hurts to watch those we care about in pain. Even our pets. Barney still has seizures. Awful ones.
I saw 2 movies this week while off. Gladiator 2. So much like the first. Great action film. And Wicked. You have to like musicals. It is part 1 of 2. Slow at times. But really left you hanging in the end.
Worked out last night. Legs. Killer workout. Tomorrow is upper body. Hoping to make it.
So I decided to get my bills all online in one place. So many choices out there. I finally went with Empower. I feel so inadequate doing it. What a train wreck!

Thank you, ladies. It's hard to watch him.
Shelley, he like this doctor. He recommended that Pat get his hips redone first. The metal joints they put in him are shredding metal into his blood and causing skin issues. The hip joints were recalled years back. Crazy, right? We'll see what happens.
I went out this afternoon for 6.10 miles in 126 mins to the ruins and around to the passion flowers. It was crazy cold wind when I started...heavy long sleeve shirt and jacket...then I turned the corner and NO wind and just beautiful hot sunshine!! I dressed for winter and got summer!! There were a lot of folks out with babies and puppies.
We are going to Sam's for Thanksgiving. She is a wonderful cook. We get to take the Green Bean Casserole and dinner rolls. Got all the ingredients and I printed out the recipe. I'm ready!!
Ronan is over playing w/Grandpa and having fun.
I'm going to read for a bit.
Chris1 -
Chris it was the 2 hours of walking that had it changing to summer. lol Are you making rolls? I love homemade ones. Right out of the oven. yummy
I made my pies today. Tomorrow will be fudge and a braided white roll with poppyseeds on top. They are rather pretty.
Shelley0 -
Happy Thanksgiving ladies. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Dinner will be at my house with everyone bringing a dish or dessert. I’m on turkey annd dressing duty as well as sweet potato soufflé.
Our first without both mom and dad. It will be different. We are clinging to each other for sure.
Have a relaxed, peaceful and fun day. 🦃

Happy Thanksgiving, my Wonderful Friends!! I love you all!!
Shelley...that's a huge, loud NO!!! Our rolls are Raley's Fresh!! bwhahah! I don't cook or bake anymore. We do have to put together the green bean casserole, but I got the recipe off Google and I think I can get it done without dropping anything on the floor. We'll finish cooking it over at Sam's. Looking forward to munching the crispy fried onions so I can have a very close conversation w/SIL!! Just kidding. Sara loves him and he loves her so I have to behave myself.
Have a great day, Ladies!

Feeling thankful for all of you
And wishing you a heartwarming holiday.
Rather than following tradition, Derek & I decided to make changes to meet our needs. So we are going to a special Chinese restaurant (Chef Chu's) tomorrow, Friday. It will be a treat. With no children, our parents gone and siblings/cousins at a distance or busy; we're become each others closest family. It's a blessing to have stayed friends.
Paula1 -
Kathy I know you will all find comfort in each other. And find that you can still laugh and love. Enjoy each other's company. And memories are the best gifts one can give.
Chris I must share this with you. They are fun to make and eat. I could give you my recipe. I love onions. I can help you with your sneaky plot.
Paula that sounds like a great tradition. My kids were both busy. So we went to a young friends family for dinner. Took most of the meal there! They have no family here. Both from Cuba originally. With the sweetest little girl. So much fun. I have made her my granddaughter. That happened a couple years ago. They can never have to many adults to love them.
I would have loved to eat to much today. But little Melanie missed me. Hard to eat with a 3 year old sitting between my plate and me. She saved me from myself.
I am addicted to Acropora corals. I need help. I spent a tiny fortune on a handful of them during Black Friday sales. Why is it called Black Friday. Green Friday is more fitting since I spent almost an entire paycheck on these little one inch sticks. I néed intervention. I can see how it will go. I will need to cancel all my cards and close out my PayPal account. Er, maybe I should wait, just in case....

Shelley, those look really yummy! If you sent me the recipe I would have to have Pat bake them. Yesterday he put the green bean thing together while I was telling him how to measure and he was telling me I was way wrong...and I was...
I fell on the floor laughing...there is no rescue for us on Black or Green Friday. My Amazon cart is filling up sooo darn fast! And it just stuff for me. I am not shopping for anyone else!!
I ate way too much yesterday and it didn't even compare to my SIL and his mother...
Today is Nick's birthday. He would have been 35 and teaching math and music to high schoolers. I'm sure I tell you guys this every year...CANCER SUCKS BIG TIME!!! We are meeting up with Sara, Pete and the boys at Nick's niche when Collin wakes up then everyone is coming here for dinner and pazookie...our form of Nick's favorite...cookies and ice cream. He's been gone 14 years and it still hurts.
Thanks, my friends for listening.

Chris,
Many hugs to you.
A friend lost her son 2yrs ago and is still in daily anguish. Like you, she has a daughter and grandchildren - and she loves them to bits and sees them often. But it doesn't change the fact that her son is not there.
It's impossible to truly know what you are going through.
Paula1 -
Shelley,
I had to google Acropora corals. It is so interesting that your addiction hobby is helping put them back into the wild. Wikipedia said:
Most species are brown or green, but a few are brightly colored, and those rare corals are prized by aquarists. Captive propagation of Acropora is widespread in the reef-keeping community. Captive specimens are steadily undergoing changes due to selection which enable them to thrive in the home aquarium. In some cases, fragments of captive specimens are used to repopulate barren reefs in the wild.

Kathy,
Hope your family thanksgiving was full of love.

Pat and I met two really nice women yesterday at Nick's niche. A mother and her daughter. They were there honoring their daughter/sister. When they saw us they came over and we talked about our losses. I gave them both tissue from the little pack that I always carry in my pocket. They left when Sara, Pete and the boys got there. I wish I would have given them both a hug before they left. They were really nice and kind.
We hung around Nick's niche and watched Ronan and Collin be little boys. We explained to Ronan the difference of being in the ground and having your ashes in a niche. His eyes got huge when he asked if Nick knew he was going to be cremated and when we explained that it was Nick's decision and all the preparation he did before he passed, Ronan was amazed.
Everyone came over and we played and had Cheesy Bean Soup and rolls and dessert. It was so fun having everyone here. Funny that they left, Pat and I cleaned up the house and it was 8:00 by the time we sat down...we stayed up until midnight!! We never stay up until midnight! I slept in until 9:00 a.m.! I never ...
The fog is so thick outside that you can't even see all of the houses across the street. First fog of the season. And that is my reason for not walking today. I'm going to read and drink coffee!!
Later my friends,

Celebrated the holiday with a wonderful dinner at Chef Chu's last night. It's the kind of place with jacquard fabrics and art all around. Plus, the food is really really good.
The lobby is adorned with 50yrs of pictures of Chef Chu with celebrities, from locals like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, to Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail Gorbachev, Jimmy Carter, Serena Williams, Justin Bieber, and many more. My fav is a cast-signed poster for Crazy Rich Asians with Awkfina's in the center (I'm a huge fan).
We were surprised it was so crowded the day after Thanksgiving; but Derek hypothesized that maybe people were treating their families to something special while they were in town for the holidays.
Gonna have leftovers for a week, my tummy is so happy. Thankful for so many blessings.

I loved what everyone wrote.
Paula I love Crazy Rich Asians!
I shed quite a few tears reading what you all were thinking and doing. And smiled at Chris on the floor laughing.
I ate my feelings today. My daughter accepted a tentative offer for a job. In Oregon. I feel like I have lost her. I know better than most what happens when you live far away from each other.
Growing up in the military and marrying a military man does nothing good for extended family relationships.
Done with my pity party for now.
Paula I love how you look things up. And it is true that my hobby gives back to the ocean. I have a very bright colored one. Blue. I think I have 12 now. All little frags for now.
Shelley0 -
Shelley, I'm sorry that your daughter may go to Oregon. I'm not sure I could handle Sara moving away. As it is, I'm going to lose my trainer, who has become my 2nd best friend...Sara's my 1st BFF!, after 11 years of working with her. In about two years, she and her husband and their two barky dogs are moving to Tennessee where their kids have moved. UGH!!! They bought land there. She does keep saying..."You never know what could happen in two years."
I love your scoly! So pretty!
Not walking yet...still got a lot of fog and cold. Maybe later...maybe not.
Collin has a cold and Sara and Pete are stuffy. Ronan says he's, "Great!!" He's always GREAT! no matter what! Such a love.
Well, later, my friends.
