@laurelfit57 I don’t know if we have the same monitor but it does give me peace of mind being able to see what Joe is up to. I’m sure it’s the same with that sassy Ty of yours. Love her birthday crown!:D Going through old stuff can be hard with all the memories it dredges up. I like that it’s been cathartic and that you can feel your feelings and then get rid of that stuff that has been taking up space in your life and heart. :)

@Katmary71 That is a bummer about the potential roommate's fallout. Maybe she will figure it out, but you definitely don’t want one where you have to worry about getting the rent paid.

@trooworld I’m sure you are having all kinds of emotions with your upcoming liquid diet that will end in a life-changing surgery. I don’t think you can stop the emotions, but I would encourage you to focus on the good things and let yourself get excited about what the future holds for you! :)

Good morning! It’s a cold morning, and I have to go to Aldi and the office today. This month’s work will consist of finalizing next year's budget, planning another potluck to accompany our big baptism day, and planning our Christmas Eve candlelight service. I just remembered that I better order the candles!! Y’all have a good day! :)

This morning, it was 17°F when I went out for my early morning walk. Rich wouldn't join me.
I'm baking cookies today. At work, we usually do "12 days of Christmas " where we each take turns bringing in treats. I realized last night that there's only 13 work days between now and Christmas, so I'll bring in cookies tomorrow and get the party started. Oatmeal with dried cranberries, candied ginger, and vanilla chips. It's also Ryder's birthday tomorrow. Ryder is a dog. He's 5 tomorrow. He won't have my cookies, but I'll be sure to bring him a treat of his own.

@askewcr – I loved reading more about you. Thank you for sharing! Gorgeous picture, too!

@bruberrieb – I’m so glad you’re joining us! Sounds like it’s been a scary year, but you’re working towards the best “you” that you can!

@trooworld – Sounds like you’re still getting a ton of steps in, even with having to use your cane. I think that’s fantastic! Man, time is flying. I can’t believe your surgery is right around the corner. You’ve got this! We are all cheering you on!

@sleepygirl79 – You can still do quick and easy meals. My favorite thing to have for lunch is a 90 second Ben’s Rice pouch with some rinsed & drained canned beans and veggie. I top it with guac salsa. Takes less than 5 minutes and it’s tasty and keeps me full. Hang in there and turn to us for support any time!

@laurelfit57 – I’m sorry all the old feelings are coming back. I hope you get through everything in the basement soon. Ty is freaking adorable! She belongs in movies!

@Katmary71 – I see why the woman was distracted. I hope her mother is ok. I hope the roommate situation works out soon.

@micaroo4 – Those cookies sound so yummy! Happy Birthday, Ryder!

I am having a very stressful time right now. Hunter (bipolar, but meds aren’t working) keeps going off the deep end on me. I overheard her on the phone with her therapist this morning and I wanted to scream. I understand she has a different perspective of reality, but to hear her therapist agreeing with her and not challenging her on the most absurd things made my blood boil. I will NOT stress eat. I will take deep breaths and enjoy some tea. Say a little prayer for me.

In the grocery store, do you go to the self-check or to a cashier? I prefer self-checkout so I can see each price as I scan items to make sure they are the correct price or the sale prices are accurate. Also, I want to bag my own things so my items aren’t squished.

@trooworld PT is going good. Thanks! Yikes I bet surgery is becoming more real, I agree the liquid diet will definitely make surgery being soon kick in. I know that's anxiety-provoking just keep reminding yourself of all the research you've done in making this decision (I know the intellectual is different than dealing with emotional but you're a smart woman).

@TeresaW2024 I agree on the roommate, that's what happened I'll fill in below. Quite a busy day good luck with everything and stay warm!

@micaroo4 Brrr I'm with Rich that's too cold for me! Oh yum that sounds like an awesome cookie recipe! The ginger sounds good, I saw some candied ginger by the cranberries at the store today and am wishing I bought them, I love ginger. I'm probably going to do a cranberry bliss bar dupe instead of white chocolate cranberry since they're so similar, we're doing a neighborhood cookie exchange. I love your office taking turns that's real fun.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you! Oh no, prayers Hunter's medication is straightened out soon, that is hard to hear something completely different than how you're experiencing it instead of trying to get at the truth. Do you and Hunter have therapy at all together? Would that help at all for while she's living with you? What tea are you drinking these days? I'm tempted to get myself a tea advent calendar but instead I ordered some small Tiesta cyber Monday sample packs to try.

Hi team! My almost roommate called and said with the loss of her second job she wouldn't be able to cover rent and bills here, it's a few hundred less than what rooms go for in this area and I was offering payments for the deposit so it's more than fair, she just can't do it and she didn't want me to end up stuck with someone who's late or can't pay. I told her if anything changes soon to reach out and we're going to keep in touch and be friends. She sent me a prayer earlier that was sweet. I'm probably going to look at students, I felt real good about her so it stinks it didn't work out. She had a situation with her second job where they were being questionable with money and she'd been upfront about it so I appreciate that. I hung out with a friend today for her 60th birthday (we've been friends for over 40 years pretty weird she's so old, LOL!). Did some running around together and had lunch and coffee. I found a fun plant mug at Hobby Lobby and she wanted to get itfor me as a belated birthday gift, I'll attach that and my neighbor's kitty who visited last night (I'm not falling in love with him I swear). Have a great Wed!kfyhtrb8tid9.jpg5p47b2bszcu1.jpg

We got the plumbing sorted for the most part, it was grease balls in the line. I don't put grease down the drains so maybe it was the small amount in the containers in the dishwasher, it was an expensive fix. Our pipe is offset going into the septic system, so we need to get that repaired, another expensive fix.

I'm still enjoying my trike, trying to get it insured but so far, no luck, should hear something back tomorrow. I'm riding it every day. Lol, I get scared when the roads are not flat and it leans to one side or the other, I'm trying to get used to that. I love pedal assist; I rode up a steep hill going 15 MPH with pedal assist and it was easy. I could just use all electric, but I do like to get in some exercise.

Our anniversary is next week, I got hub's gift wrapped up and ready. Now I just need his Christmas list.

I wish they didn't make such yummy foods at the holidays. It would be easy to avoid bland and tasteless foods.

Whew! I'm way behind already. @vegan4lyfe2012 @laurelfit57, @Katmary71 - loved the pix you posted, so adorable. @askewcr- thank you for sharing your lovely picture and your story. Inspiring.

@trooworld- One day at a time getting ready for surgery. Feel all the feels while still looking ahead to see what the future holds. Good things my friend!

@vegan4lyfe2012 - my sister just caused a huge social media drama that was horribly mean to my Dad. I tried to talk to her about it, when I heard her version of the events, it just made me even angrier. And she has friends taking her ridiculous side also. So, hugs to you. To have to live with that in my home would be really hard.dpbgjbjwo1da.jpg

I'm Lisa, I live in FL with my husband and adult daughter. My son moved out this fall. We have a dog, Gus. I've been in this group since 2020, I think. I appreciate the support it provides. I've struggled with weight since young adulthood, done several different diets. Am really having a hard time getting weight off now due to my "mature" age. But, I keep at it. For exercise, I lift weights, do step aerobics and walk. I also like to read.

I just finished "Horse"- has anyone read it?

Today I have a virtual seminar for work- after we signed up, we found out it's on Mountain Time and we are Eastern. So, today and tomorrow I am working from 11 am to 7 pm.

@TeresaW2024 Yes! That's a good idea. I've been talking with my husband about all the things that will change after surgery and how different things will be. It's going to be strange! LOL Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.

@micaroo4 Wow, that's cold! I can't believe there are only 13 work days before Christmas. Your cookies sound fantastic. Happy birthday to Ryder!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Yes, but I may be overdoing it causing me to have to continuously use the cane. BUT after surgery, it will be even more important to walk a lot. Thank you, I can't believe it's right around the corner, either! I'm sorry about Hunter right now. That would be really frustrating! Can you do some stamping when you get stressed? Would that help?

@Katmary71 Oh good, I'm glad it's going well. That's a good idea. I've been on this journey since Jan 3rd. I've had plenty of time to research (and you are right, I have!). Oh that's too bad about the roommate. I'm sorry. She sounds like she would have been good (if she could have afforded it). Oh that kitty is cute! I love the mug, it's perfect for you!

@FushiaKat Sorry about the plumbing bill. I'm glad you are enjoying your trike. Happy early anniversary!

@Cornanda Thank you! That pic of Gus is too cute! Horse...that's by Geraldine Brooks, right? I've heard it is good but I have not read it. What did you think? That sucks about the seminar. Ugh.

Hi all. I hate this time around the holidays at work because I can't concentrate and don't feel like working lol. I didn't sleep very well last night, I woke up at 3:30 am and didn't bother going back to sleep since my alarm goes off at 4. I'm actually looking forward to the liquid diet as I've been eating crappy for a while now and my body is going to feel so much better on the liquid diet.

Just doing a quick check in. On day 3 of tracking again. Yesterday was pretty over, but I celebrate that I tracked it all.
Walking after work is getting colder. Tonight’s low is -24c/-11f with windchill of -34c/-29f. Ask my dog if he cares! Plus I help my son deliver papers (we may have to use the car, they will be flying all over the place!)

@sleepygirl79 Great job tracking! Brr that's a cold walk!

@trooworld Thanks! Ugh the holidays are tough at work/ At the end of holidays I'm relieved to eat healthy again, I think after being more careful and aware how I feel when I don't eat healthier it makes a bigger difference when I fall off the wagon or get back on.

@Cornanda Oh no I'm sorry to hear about your sister causing social media issues. Gus is looking cuter than ever! I haven't read horse.

@FushiaKat Your trike sounds so fun! Happy Anniversary!

Hi team! Went to the farm this morning, got some work done after for the practitioner (drives me crazy how disorganized things are sometimes!), then my neighbor and I went to see Wicked which was great. Have some muffins in the oven (been craving cornbread), I need to get to the store to get a bunch of ingredients for cookies and muffins for the garden club this weekend. Not much else going on, have a great Thursday!

@laurelfit57 - that is a terrific pic. You should send it out as a Christmas card

@trooworld- yes, Geraldine Brooks. I thought it was good. Not terrific. What are you reading?

Who do I miss? I will answer "what do I miss"- we are re-navigating our holiday traditions since my son has moved out. Unlikely we will have "Christmas morning"- he'll probably come over later. Annual cookie decorating is also unsure. DD is very adamant that nothing changes! However, that's just not reasonable. I'm doing fine with this, although I'm sure I'll be a bit nostalgic for the kids younger days on Christmas morning.

@sleepygirl79 That's really cold lol. Good job with your tracking.

@Katmary71 That makes sense. I'm glad you enjoyed Wicked. I heard it is good.

@laurelfit57 Yes, that stuff is scary for sure! That's good that the dogs have agility today. I know, right? Surgery is right around the corner lol. Thank you! I'm still getting used to my CPAP machine so sleep is hard right now. Vannie is so dramatic! That's hilarious she tips her head back and looks like she faints. That's a funny picture of the dogs.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: Who do you miss, this holiday season?
I miss my grandma the most. I was never close with my family besides my grandma. She's been gone many years but I remember her kindness towards me.

Hi all. The hospital called yesterday right as I was about to leave work. They wanted to go over my medical history and give me instructions. I need to make some broths this weekend and freeze them for before and after my surgery.

I miss my mom, my dad, two sisters, and a brother. My mom used to always make Christmas special. She said you can't have an artificial tree, it's got to be real. I loved decorating it with my sister who was one year older than me. We used to use those silver icicles and they would be everywhere by the end of the season because we would play with them. Each family member was unique and special in their own way. Hubby and I do our best to make things special and I have my nieces who are just like my grandkids. We have a special bond. I'm looking forward to a special time this Christmas.

@laurelfit57 Thank you! LOL that's too funny about Vannie's “faint”! She looks beautiful by the tree love it.

WHAT DO YOU MISS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON: I miss family that is no longer here and I honestly miss being in a relationship, lonely to be single right now. I miss my childhood organ too I love playing Christmas music.

@trooworld How are you feeling about talking with the hospital? That's pretty early but I'd rather them be on the ball than forget things.

@TeresaW2024 Funny I'm glad I saw it in the theater, if you have a big TV I think you'll enjoy it. Hope you get your desk organized that's an area it always feels great afterward to have done it. Hugs to your “miss”.

@askewcr I loved those icicles too! Your Christmas sounds special I bet you're making a lot of great memories for your nieces.

Hi team! I got all my baking stuff at Trader Joe's and Safeway and started in, got Molasses cookies done and started the brown butter dark chocolate sea salt and didn't see to let the dough sit in the fridge for half a day, you only cook 6 at a time so there's some super flat ones then I reread the directions and put the dough back in (will finish tomorrow). The woman I work with had a class I went to today. A few of us are taking a friend from the charity out to eat tonight. The two of us that resigned got duplicate letters wanting an exit interview which I probably won't bother with. I'd better get a peek at the menu to see how I can do healthy at The Spaghetti Factory which is carb city! Have a great Friday.

@Cornanda Christmas traditions seem to stay exactly the same when your kids are young, then they just evolve. I have learned to just roll with it. You are right, I should make that picture our Christmas card🤣

@trooworld I am the same as you, my grandma was my person. As I go through these pictures, she is my highlight of the old pictures, always remembering her kindness and cuddles ♥️

@TeresaW2024 50° is just a beautiful fall day here😆. Sounds like you had a delightful day planned for today.

@Katmary71 your baking sounds delicious!! I'm afraid I can't do baking around here, no willpower at all. Have fun at the spaghetti factory! I haven't been there since my kids were little. I remember their sourdough bread, Yum!

I was glad to have agility classes in the morning. Yesterday I ran two dogs for an hour, so did not get a break at all, I was exhausted! This morning I had Ty in one class and Vannie in the next one, so I was able to get a break when others were having their turn, it went much better today!
My little storage room had become crazy! I got that all emptied out today and I'm going to start putting things away tomorrow, I think half of it will be donated to charity.
I actually tracked all day today and stayed within my limits which was super surprising. I have a friend in Kentucky, whose daughter loves the Grinch. She got a hold of me and asked me if I could go to the McDonald's here and get a Grinch meal at McDonald's, they come with grinch socks. So I went to McDonald's got a Grinch meal of a big Mac and fries and a coffee (I thought I was going to get the kids meal and the socks would come with it). I came home and took out the middle bun, one patty, the cheese off of the hamburger and most of the sauce, so I counted it as a half a big Mac and I only ate a few fries. it didn't exactly give me energy to be clearing everything out in that storage room, but I was starving after those two classes🤣.
Ty got to see her mom, Millie at class today. Millie wasn't very interested at all, she was more interested in the tug toy that Shauna had🤪

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: Who do you miss, this holiday season?
During the holidays, the person I miss the most is my mom. She loved the holidays. Decorating the house makes me think of her. She was great at picking out gifts for people. We used to shop together. I don't really like to shop, but I always loved to go shopping with my mom. When she got sick and we couldn't take a shopping trip together, we would look over the catalogs (Sears, JCP) and pick out gifts together.

@TeresaW2024 - I understand what you mean about missing Joe....

@Katmary71 - Oh my gosh- you played the organ? So did I! did we ever talk about this? My teacher was very old and mostly taught me polkas. I hope you will find the incredible man that you deserve.

@laurelfit57 - Thank you- yes, all you can do is roll with it and the new traditions will become special too.

@TeresaW2024 Yes! Girl, you should see my desk lol. I keep cleaning it up and it seems the next day, it is back to piles and messes lol. Good luck!

@Katmary71 I hope the right guy comes around for you and by next year, you don't feel that way. I feel pretty good about talking to the hospital. Like you said, I would rather get it done and them be on the ball. It was also an opportunity for me to ask questions, although some questions I will have to ask my surgeon's office. Molasses cookies sound yummy! Oh gosh so do the others lol. Good luck at carb city lol.

@laurelfit57 I'm glad you can relate. My other family members were not kind to me nor did they love me, so having grandma was a bright spot. Big hugs to you. Sounds like you are getting exercise in, even if it isn't at the gym! Yay for tracking! Good job with the McD's stuff. Awww, a family reunion! I can see Ty looks like Millie! Cute pic.

    @Cornanda Wow, great loss!

Hello all. My husband wants to take me out for a last hurrah. I've been having a last hurrah for the last month but okay lol. We are going for Ethiopian food on Saturday night and then Salvadoran food at lunch on Sunday. I ordered some Fairlife Core Protein Elite protein shakes which have 42 g of protein in them. I want to consume as much protein as possible so I have the least chance of feeling starving lol.

@Katmary71 – No, Hunter and I do not have therapy together. She sees her therapist on her own 2 times a week and then she and Michael do couples counseling 1 time a week. I see my own therapist. See below on the home front 😊 I drink all kinds of tea and all different brands. Ohio Tea Company is still my favorite with Birdsong Tea coming in a very close second. I have lots of Tiesta – what flavors are you trying? That sucks about the roommate. Hope you can find someone soon. Cute mug and kitty-neighbor 😊 I loved Wicked, too! An exit interview. Ha. What a joke. They clearly know why you left. I wouldn’t bother with it, either.

@Cornanda – How awful for your dad. Mental heath struggles are just plain awful. Love Gus’ picture – what a cutie! Nice loss this week, too!

@trooworld – I can’t stamp when I’m pissed LOLs. What a perfect mantra for the new year! Enjoy (but not too much) your last hurrahs!

@sleepygirl79 – Tracking is good – keep it up!

@laurelfit57 – That’s hilarious – Sounds like Vannie isn’t dramatic at all, either! Hahahahaha

WOOT WOOT! THEY GOT APPROVED! THEY DROPPED THEIR $1,000 DEPOSIT OFF YESTERDAY AND GOT THE LEASE AGREEMENT! I AM SO ECSTATIC!!! The apartment is located halfway between my house and my job, so super convenient. Thank you all for all the prayers. I can’t wait to have my solitude back! Perfect Christmas gift – thank you, God!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: Who do you miss, this holiday season?
Like most of you, it’s family that I miss. My Grandma and Grandpa (mom’s side) and my Dad. Especially my dad. I was a daddy’s girl growing up, but when I got into my mid-teens there were a lot of family issues and my parents divorced when I was 21. We didn’t communicate for the next 7 years. But what I hadn’t known was that he thought I was still working at the same job during that time and had written me letters and cards and sent them there. I never got them. God’s hand was in it because I was at the hospital with my daughter for her surgery. We were in pre-op, back when everyone was lined up and separated by a curtain. I heard my dad’s voice. He was there for surgery, too! That’s when he told me about the letters. We re-connected, but it hurts that I missed out on 7 extra years with him along with my children. I am thankful for the time I did have with him, tho.
