The NFL weekend kicks off Thursday with Packers at Lions and ends with Bengals at Cowboys on MNF. There are plenty of NFL games in between, plus college conference championship games on Saturday. What do you expect from your favorite team(s) or player(s)? What about those teams you love to hate? This thread is here for all your football talk.

In a perfect world, the Pats would cut down on procedural penalties. That would reflect well on the coaching staff.

And am I the only one who thinks the press is being overly harsh on Jerod Mayo as a new coach? I’ve got a hunch a lot of these writers are gonna look back in three years and say “maybe he DID know what he was doing”.

I’d love to see the Lions win out. What a turnaround that has been! (It’s what we’re hoping for with the Pats.)

It is tough to follow a legendary coach. Think John Wooden, Dean Smith - those types of coaches. Here locally, Jimmy Johnson did pretty good following Tom Landry, but that was an exception to the rule.

Jimmy Johnson was an exceptional coach in his own right. But, the Cowboys haven't had anyone close since then.

I remain focused on College football. Big game between Oregon and Penn State for the Big 10 Championship. Likely will affect seeding for the playoffs.

SMU is having a really good season, although it is strange to think of them in the ACC. All the conference realignment this season doesn't seem right. Oregon in the Big 10?

    Yep. Big 10.

I remember when SMU got the Death Sentence. I guess they've recovered.

When I was a kid, TCU couldn't pay to win a game.

    It sure took a while.

And then there's Chuck Noll to Bill Cowher to Mike Tomlin serving as the exception-of-all-exceptions to that rule. Dear Lord, how I hate that team! :D

The Browns will be in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Nothing good ever happens there and I'm dreading it. We've been playing (at least) entertaining football for several weeks, but with little to play for that streak is likely to end.

Even though I’m a New England fan, I always had a fondness for Pittsburgh. They’ve always played tough, physical football.

OK, I'll drop a grenade. I hate the cowboys, and Landry!

Okay Al, lots of people hate the Cowboys (misguided as they are). But Tom Landry? That I don't get.

My DW and I lived in Pittsburg for about 18 months 11 years ago, and learned to love the city, although I was always more of a baseball than a football guy, for any sports fan of most sports its an absolutely great place to be.

I get it. Can I say recently I’ve respected the Baker Mayfield Browns? Not the management, but the product they put on the field. I thought he got a bad deal, essentially being blamed for not playing well while playing injured. (Hard to respect the ownership that made the Watson deal, for a variety of reasons.)

CFP seeding announced. Greg, you've got your Ducks in the top spot. Great season. I'm happy that SMU got in over Alabama. I guess it is hard to follow Nick Saben as coach there, much like we were discussing the other day.

Jerry Jones needs to hire a real General Manager.
