Today's Topic: Holiday Traveling
I know we've covered this before, but I like refreshing my memory once in a while.
Next Thursday (12/19), I'll be flying back to Oregon. I find that when I am in an airport, I get a tad anxious, perhaps a tad bored, and it reflects in my desire to eat - even if I am not hungry.
When you travel, regardless the mode of travel, so you take steps to mitigate overeating due to anxiousness/boredom?

I try to eat before going to the airport, but when I can't I tend to default to Starbucks egg bites as a meal. I shouldn't have the cheese, but if I haven't had a lot of dairy that week, I'll eat it. We had a five hour delay a few weeks ago. Restaurants were closed, so the only option was a protein bar from the convenience store. I don't enjoy most of those.1

Yes, anxiety, boredom and frustration ring the dinner bell for me. Eating ahead sometimes works. Having something to drink can help. Or having something in my mouth like gum or a piece of hard candy.1

Yeah airports are tough on a meal plan, the snack's you can get t the new stand are even bigger than those at road side gas station's and the options at the sit down restaurants are usually not great choices for your meal plan. ( not to mention your wallet!)1

Hmm . . .
At this point in life, I tend to travel on an empty bladder - and also, somewhat by default, empty stomach. We use airport lounges when we can, and the “free food” can be an issue. I don’t really have a strategy other than discipline.1 -
DW and I haven't travels much since 2020 and I don’t think we been on an airplane since 2017 or 2018 not sure.
Mostly it's our businesses that keep us close to home and for me it's gotten to be more of an health issue than anything else. Short car trips are ok but being full time catherized has its challenges when it comes to long lines long walks to the restroom and you get the picture.
So this Christmas were driving to Atlanta from home to spend Christmas with DW's 90 yo cousin who has no family but us. I only have one Brother left out of 6 siblings and he's about a 4 hour drive to Alabama. With his 3 children he has several grandchildren so they stay really busy.
So bottom line when we take short driving trips I usually keep a food bar or two to thart off a hunger attack.
