I overate a bit yesterday, which sort of sucked. I think the main culprit was that I got really wrapped up in my work and by the time I noticed the time, it was already late and I was already starving. I'm going back into the studio today, so this time I'm going to bring a snack and set an alarm :)

@sunshinezombiegirl1 So to hear you are frustrated. But I also believe you went on vacation and you have been sick. Give yourself some grace! Is there anything we can do to help you?

@sunshinezombiegirl1 I second what pupowl said, didn’t you also recently move? I think you have been doing what you can, , when you can, how you can. Regardless of the challenges you have kept making the choice to do and I think that is something to be proud of.

I'm sorry...it's just--I am literally at the same point where I started in October. I'm not sure what's going to help, but I appreciate the offer.

@sunshinezombiegirl1 Yeah, that's not fun! There is always something you can learn though. Weight loss isn't easy and for almost nobody it is a straight line down. I am currently on attempt number 4. Maybe you can use the last bit of the year to figure out if there are any small changes you can make to start January fresh. I also know you have had some issues with seizures. How are you doing with them now? If you would like some more seated workouts, I really like this lady https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLsPoR5SimhuW4PN0SIwC5E1xa87Q9CmHV
She has seated workout playlists for 3 different difficulties. Anyway, don't give up! If you do need some more advice, please ask. Among all the Shape Shifters, we have a lot of experience with weight loss and the set backs that come with it; we are just another resource!

@sunshinezombiegirl1 I'm going to echo what @Pupowl said and add to it. Starting with the give yourself some grace statement. Don't be too hard on yourself, we're in this for the long haul and as been stated, weight loss is not linear. I'm going to throw a bunch of stuff in and not necessarily in the right order, but here goes. 😁

Sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to find the thing that works for you. Not to be discouraging but it took me about 30 years - I'm 64. Some things I can recommend are 1. take a break for a bit. Which doesn't mean eating with wild reckless abandon 😂 but giving your brain a break from thinking about logging and posting and everything else. It can get mentally exhausting. 2. When you do make changes do small things and only one or two at a time. I know that's been said but it bears repeating, for several reasons. If you change too many things you won't know which works and which didn't. Also, please wait at least a month (e.g. one full menstrual cycle) before making any other changes or giving up on something. 3. Remember we're here to support you. As are many long time MFP users in other forums. If you have a question, need support or just need/want to chat - we're here. I for one wouldn't have gotten through the isolation of COVID without the friends I made in the Biggest Loser challenge.

Sorry for the ramble... you got this girlfriend! 💕

@frankwbrown Merry Christmas! Question, I have long since decided to switch from Fitbit to Garmin and find myself the owner of a brand new Amazon gift card, which Garmin do you recommend? 🤷‍♀️ I am looking at the Vivo active 5 and curious which one you have. I know you have written extensively on this in the past and don't want to make you redo that so just looking for the basics. Thanks for the help. 😊

I have a Fenix 8 51mm AMOLED which is quite large, and would set you back ~$1,000.
Do you have any unusual activities you want to track? Are you into golfing or scuba diving?

There is no best Garmin watch. And there is an incredible number to choose from.
The best one for you depends on what your interests are, what you can afford, and what your style preference is.
    • solar - some are solar capable which can help prolong time between charging
    • health - many have a built-in Heart Rate Monitor and provide many health monitoring features: sleep, O2, stress. (some include features specifically for women's health)
    • screen - some use AMOLED color and/or are touch enabled
    • size - many models come in "S" (small) and "X" (large) sizes as well as medium.
    • design - some have a more elegant look than others.

If money is no object, you can't go wrong with one of the Fenix 8 models. But they're quite expensive, and you would probably be perfectly happy with a cheaper model. The best affordable watch could be different for different people: runners, swimmers, golfers, etc.

Most models support an extensive variety of activities such as running, cycling, walking, swimming, strength training, yoga, paddle boarding, racket sports,... on and on.
All use the Garmin Connect app which maintains a history of your activities, sleep, steps, etc. and supports connecting with other Garmin users.

Two possible choices are the Vivo Active 5 (~$200) and the Venu 3 (~$450). Why would you want to pay twice as much? Is there any reason to pay twice as much?

If you browse through this comparison of these two models, you'll see that the Vivo Active supports almost everything the Venu 3 supports, including fitness tracking, health metrics, music, text messages, etc.
    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/compare/?compareProduct=1057989&compareProduct=873214&compareProduct=1228493

What the Venu 3 has that the Vivo Active 5 doesn't:
    • voice support - make calls and send text via voice.
    • barometic altimeter - this allows the Venu 3 to track your elevation changes, floors climbed, total ascent/decent, etc.
    • gyroscope - this allows the Venu 3 to provide a variety of running dynamics.

Voice support seems like an extravagance that you can easily do without, but if you want info on running dynamics and/or want to track ascent/descent on hikes and such, then you might be happier with the Venu 3. Otherwise, the Vivo Active seems like the best bang for your buck.

Thanks @frankwbrown I knew you could help! It never occurred to me to go to the Garmin website 🙃 sometimes the obvious eludes me. 😕 I am looking forward to doing many of the challenges that they have available. I'd better go order it soon as the delivery date has already changed between last night and this morning. I've got to get ahead of all those New Year's resolutioners. 😁
