I credit my reduction to not feeling well, not having much appetite. We shall see if I can keep it off.
Lois, I'm hoping your drive to Scottsdale today goes smoothly, with minimal traffic and no back pain.
Kelly, thinking of you and Shawn . . hope he's done with kidney stone pain.
Sarah, let us know how you're feeling. Your hospital experience must have been so scary! Hope you're okay now. The photo with all of us, from left to right . . . Cali granddaughter, Cali son, Cali DIL, Cali grandsons 1 and 2. Me, Hubby, Oregon daughter, Oregon granddaughters 1 and 2, Oregon SIL, Utah grand baby, Utah SIL, Utah daughter, Utah granddaughter, Utah step granddaughter.
I'm feeling a little better . . each day. I'm sure I had some kind of virus. Not bad symptoms, other than nausea, low fever, headache and body aches.

Great job Sheesh and I hope it's not because you haven't been feeling well.
Made it to and back from Scottsdale. Back spasms kicked in just before I left the office. Sadly my sales software is down and I'm on standby for the support team to get us back up and running. I'd rather be on my recliner on an ice pack. The Advil is helping....
Hoping to see everyone's updates!0 -

Sorry I didn't make it to the boards yesterday. I did weigh myself yesterday morning, but then I got caught up in taking care of other things, including a follow-up appointment with my primary care physician. Every time I resent that concierge fee we pay every month, I'm going to try to remember that she spent almost an hour with me yesterday, rather than the 15 minutes so many offices now allow. The good news is that she thinks I'm on the mend. She wants me to finish the meds and keep adding regular food to my diet and see how it goes. She also said that eventually I'll need to see my gastroenterologist to make sure there's no underlying condition causing these flare-ups, but she wants me to get my radiation out of the way first. I'm waiting now for a call-back from Hopkins to set up my simulation for next week. Then they'll schedule my treatments starting the 27th, I think.
I'm sure that my weight for the week just reflects not eating much and that it will increase quickly once I'm back on regular food. I have not walked since this thing flared up. The last normal walking day I had was New Year's Day. :' But the doc said I could start walking again now, provided I watch the pace, and I've started trying to eat a more normal diet, with a few caveats (not ready for red meat, nuts, or seeded berries yet).
My goal for this week is to at least have a 7-day step average of 7 to 8K. I'll be back to 10K plus soon enough. And I'm going to try to keep kcals consumed to around 1200 to 1300.
Sheesh, thank you for letting me know who was who on the photo. I actually did pretty good just guessing. Lois, I'm glad you made it to Scottsdale and back, but oh did your remark about waiting for the IT folks bring back some memories. The IT team at CDC was called ITSO, and I would often just say to hubby that I was in ITSO hell! I worked remotely and had 5 email inboxes, so I often had trouble either connecting to the network or one of the inboxes once I got in. And I have certainly kept Kelly and Shawn in my thoughts for the past few days and will continue to do so. Hope she gets a chance to update us soon.
Well signing off for now. Things are going to get better for all of us. Yes, they will.

Sarah! Omigoodness! Your ambulance and hospital visits are crazy! I can imagine how terrified your husband was in those moments when you were passing out. So, I'm assuming they just decided that the cause of your low potassium was because you were dehydrated and lacking nutrients, which then made you nauseous and stressed your body to cause the low blood pressure? I know when I have any kind of overwhelming pain in my body, I also pass out. I'm glad you're mostly back to feeling better. My Mom also has diverticulitis and I sure do feel for her.
Sheesh - Sorry to hear you're still not feeling up to par. Hopefully rest and lots of fluids will also help you. Your pictures of your trip are amazing!! Which resort did you guys go to?
Lois - Ugh.. back spasms suck. Sounds like all of us need to focus on rest and fluids!!!
Well Shawn is back to normal with the kidney stone. Of course now his foot is bothering him again. They can't seem to figure that out for him. I'm sure his diet doesn't help, as we're both overweight at the moment. Slowly but surely though we'll make small changes and get there. It sure is difficult when times are stressful and we're in the middle of a deep freeze winter with a blizzard at the moment. Not really wanting to bring the dog for walks and that's how I really get most of my activity. I really just need to get back to doing my workouts early in the AM but I haven't quite been able to get there yet on a consistent basis. Every time I do, I get sick.. or someone is sick.. or I'm not sleeping well, etc. Now that my annual conference is over, at least the stress of that is done.
We were hoping to go to the cabin tomorrow but we'll have to see how tonight goes. Most of the highways outside of our city are closed right now... with many having 20-40 car pile ups. I even heard a woman was killed because she left her vehicle and was hit by a semi. How awful.
Stay safe all and take care. Have a great weekend relaxing and getting our healthy back!0 -
Kelly, it's so good to hear from you. And I think you summed up what happened to me perfectly. Stay safe up there. The DC area is entering a deep freeze. When I go for my radiation simulation on Thursday, the high is supposed to be in the single digits. Time for me to pull out those flannel lined pants and thick wool socks. And I think you've come up with a great group goal--get our healthy selves back!0

Sarah - Great group goal - get our healthier selves back!! I love it.
Kelly - great to see your post and please all of you stay home if at all possible.
Back is still out - went for a 90 min massage on Saturday in hopes of getting some relief. The massage itself was amazing. But it didn't help the back too much. Thursday I attempted to contact my PT team, but the phone just rang. Friday, I was able to stay connected long enough to leave two voicemails on their system, but no call back, so no PT appt. I'm not sure what's happening over there and I don't have time to call today. Hoping they just forgot to take the phone off night time and no one heard the calls. But I also have not yet had a call back from them from my Friday message, so that is also a bit weird. I have even been applying arnica gel 2-3x/day along with ice, heat and stretching. This morning I called my back up doc and made an appt to see him tomorrow morning (too many meetings on Mondays to attempt to squeeze it in today so opted for early tomorrow morning). The muscle relaxers help while I'm sleeping, but once I go to the restroom, I'm back to full spasms and locked. Hopefully the doc will have some insight tomorrow.
Saw Rhea and her parents yesterday. Gosh I miss that little one. She wants an overnight with us, but with my back I'm not sure when that's going to happen. Grandpa has very busy work schedule on Saturdays for the next couple of months so I need to ensure I'm physically able to play with her and keep her entertained.
The chef was here this morning so we have a refrigerator full of fresh cooked food.0 -
Good Tuesday afternoon. Had my doc appt this morning. More muscle relaxers and direction to go to PT. A new person answered the phone at PT and was weird when I asked about my two messages I had left on Friday. Anyhow, I have an appt for Friday afternoon. But first, I may have jury duty so I won't know until tomorrow evening (AZ is weird in that we call the night before with a group number and told to appear or not). Doc did prescribe a "daytime" rx which is not as strong and hopefully I can function on it and then a night time one where nope...can't function - just sleep. So I just took the daytime one and we'll see how I hold up this afternoon. Wish me luck!
So I woke up this morning to a text from my daughter (really irked that my phone didn't buzz or ring as they are supposed to be able to get through the DND mode). Anyhow, there were two fires that had broken out near her home and they voluntarily evacuated. One was about 1/2 mile from their home, just outside the walls of their community (now 100% contained - whew - what a day). The other is about 3 miles from their house, across the freeway. That one is much larger but 30% contained. The larger one we are also watching as she lives east and across the freeway from it, but her horses are just to the west of it about 2 miles and lots of brush to fuel it along. She has been prepared to evacuate the horses, but has been on standby. With the update, she has a little less concern. However, since the big fire is still active, they are going to remain at the hotel one more night (which I'm thankful for). And PG&E had turned off power over there this morning so I haven't seen an update if it has been restored or not. Kids. She might be 42, graduated with her Masters magna cum laude, but when something happens, she's my baby girl0
