@77tes Thank you for keeping this blog going. Strength workouts are fantastic for CV health, and certainly make one feel good as well. I do Strength HIIT MWF mornings, it is a fast and great way to start the day. Keep ringing the bell!2

My second day with no 1/2 &1/2 in my coffee hopefully can do again tomorrow I think I can.
I was re reading my air fryer critique, I actually have been using a non teflon pan with a non teflon grated rack in the oven and itβs worked really well. We have done chicken tenders and chicken breast both have come out moist and tender. I would encourage others to try if you have convection on your oven mine has dual fans it a dual flex oven.2 -
10th January was my 10th anniversary on MFP. I did have a streak of 3200+ until MFP removed the newsfeed earlier this year, when it reset to zero.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be more than
2 lbs a day for no apparent reason. - A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Regarding the air fryer oven discussion. We are in the Czech Republic and have Remoska, which is a large pot with an electric lid that has one on/off button, and it's great. This is our second one, the previous one was a Tefal brand and we had it for 12 years but it's no longer on the market. I know the Remoska might not be available where you are but something similar might be. We've cooked all kinds of things in it, from pasta bakes to bread. It's good for heating up food from chilled or frozen and oven chips/fries too. In the UK, Lakeland sell them and Amazon might have them elsewhere in Europe. As for the US, I don't know.

@Interbeing , I love HIIT , so great! Iβm hoping the strength training will also keep my bones strong.
@snowshoe072 , I have a toaster oven that has a convection function, so maybe I should try that as a stand-in for an air fryer. I already like the convection setting for making pies.
Well done eliminating the half&half! Celebrate every day!
@TerriRichardson112, I love your list of reminders! Itβs so true that itβs the overall trends that are what shows results. There are NO quick fixes
Another vote for HIIT! Good going.
@BodyTalking , thanks for the recommendations, my daughter loves her air fryer, but Iβm not sure what brand it is. My biggest problem about getting one is that my kitchen is quite small, so a new appliance requires careful consideration.

Hereβs a quote from James Clear to inspire you. His book Atomic Habits is on sale (an email just arrived in my inbox today).Maybe I should reread it.
Thx for that quote, Tes! I bought that book last summer, but I haven't read it yet. Maybe I should !
Joining in for Habits. I finally also got that coloring the months of the year Habit Tracker that I learned about on here two summers ago, I think it was. Plus some Sidekick Journals to journal / log my exercise goals for the year. What I like about them is, they're only for one thing, and they're not dated, so I don't have to worry about big gaps/empty pages or squares, or a color-coded system for different types of exercises. My focus this year is going to be on adding in other types of exercises, other than daily steps. I've pretty much got the steps down, having maintained a 10k/day daily steps streak for over 18 mos, in 2022 and 2023 (broke the streak due to a knee injury). I don't worry about a 'streak' anymore, but I do get my steps most days/weeks. I want to add in things like strength, flexibility/stretching, yoga, meditation. And add back in Indoor Cycling, which was recommended by my PT for my (other) knee injury (π), back in 2019. I dropped the habit bc when Covid hit, gyms were no-go places, and I'd already started my 10k/day steps streak. (Started in early Dec '21, actually, but most of the 18-mos streak was in 2022 and 2023).
I have plans to start incrementally, not all at once. And I've also signed up for Conqueror Virtual Challenges, and joined a few already, tying each challenge to a different activity. I learned about the Conqueror Virtual Challenges from some conversations in the Hogwarts Challenges, over the last few terms. Intrigued, I finally bought a package bundle during their New Year's Sale.
Looking forward to 'coloring' my way and 'journaling' my way to a new me!

Today I started off the year strong by eating:
- carrot sticks
- celery sticks
- cucumber sticks
- four and 1/2 cups of kale salad
- 3/4 cups of mixed vegetables
- 1 and 1/2 cups of sauteed broccoli, mushrooms and onions
I know I read in this post to start slow but that's not always easy for me to do. I will try to do manageable steps to keep my momentum going and not get discouraged if I can't do those big steps, but for today I am proud of myself.
I also straightened up my garage a bit, so I'm proud of that all too.
I am working on both those things, too, tbol, in addition to my Exercise focus for 2025 ! ππ I'm in a Greens / Freggies group that you're more than welcome to join, if you're interested. It's simply freggies. You post a pic of your greens (the focus), or any freggie (more likely for me, lol), or just a text post, each day, or whenever the mood strikes you. New thread for each month. I would like ... maybe never ... eat another freggie if I didn't think about it, rofl. I started making it the focus of my "Unbreakable Vow" (a mini challenge, 4 wks long) in the Hogwarts Challenge group. That, plus the Greens Group have really helped me.

Happy FitVersary, Terri !! (Jan 6 was also my hubby and my 35th wedding anniversary π€.) I know I 've seen your goals list before, maybe on the main challenge board threads, or maybe in the ultimate accountability challenge group, or maybe in Hogwarts! but it's just as inspiring every time I read it. I'm going to copy/save it to my fitness journal (starting in Feb, getting 'ready' throughout Jan). I hope you don't mind!1 -

Do convection ovens heat up your kitchen? One of the biggest plusses, imo, to air fryers is that they heat your food fast (like a microwave) without heating up your kitchen. I didn't pull the trigger for a really long time, but I was glad I finally did. Love using it in the summer, mainly. Plus, it heats things up without making it mushy like the microwave, or without added fats, if you don't like that. I bought silicone liners for the air fryer bin, which works great when heating up things with sauces. Sometimes you want the grill, to let things drip down. But lots of times, you DON'T want things to drip down. Silicone liner is a game changer, for me.0 -

Yes, the pot is always on the stove. Just heat it up each day - old school style. I guess, if you have a large freezer or fridge, you could portion it for later. We make thick hearty soups and mix up how we serve it, one day on its own or with bread/toast, one day as a sauce with spaghetti, another day with meat and potatoes, or use it as a sauce on wraps with falafels and couscous, etc.
Good to see you here π2 -
