@bobboyardee I hope everything with your friend works out, stay strong on your boundaries! I think it IS easier to solve other's problems.

@micaroo4 Wow I'm not used to hearing of earthquakes in your area! Glad you're all okay and there was no damage. Growing up in San Jose CA we had them often but they're not fun. I love the Jurassic Park reference and know exactly what scene you're talking about!
    \
@TeresaW2024 I'm so glad you're feeling better as far as the injection. Way to go on the 8lb weight! Congratulations on the awesome loss this month, you're doing amazing! Love your rewarding milestone so much. I haven't looked into the trial at all yet I agree about healthy foods and also about possible issues with him as well. In CA the farmer's markets are certified to take EBT, that may be worth looking into there but of course a lot of it needs to be prepared first.

@trooworld Keep fighting off that flu! It's always such a huge relief when it DOESN'T kick in, I wouldn't be surprised if your body becoming healthier makes a big improvement there. Oh no good luck with the dentist cleaning. Oh not using your cane since surgery is a HUGE NSV! Enjoy eating something tasty at the fish house it will be nice to have something solid I'm sure!

HOW DO YOU TRACK YOUR PROGRESS, AND WHAT”S BEEN THE MOST REWARDING MILESTONE SO FAR?

Getting healthier to where I was able to go off diabetes medicine and my liver issues cleared up to where I wasn't throwing up all the time. I'm above my old goal weight but am happy I haven't had those reverse. Also being able to get out of the car fast thanks to working out, it used to take a long time to get up and down.

@micaroo4 You've done so well I hope you feel a lot of pride when you review your records and journals.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Hugs to you, sending prayers up for your family and Amelia Kay and her and your DIL's medical team. Is Ashley's liver issue something that will improve after childbirth? I'm glad Amelia will be here soon. I agree with Chris I think it's your cortisol being high, please don't worry about that. Swimming sounds wonderful! I'm glad you got some rest I'm sure you really needed it.

@FushiaKat Great job riding in the cold, it's hard to get out there right now! Sounds like you're doing great with decluttering, I need to follow your lead I've fallen off doing that since the first week of Jan.

Hi team! Been doing good with diet and exercise. We had two micro current classes last night and I came home and got in a bath and fell asleep. Today I ran to the farm for a few minutes then have been struggling to get Asher's prescription for less. The VCA wrote the prescription as ½ capsule 2xs a day which is an issue and they refuse to write it as one pill a day where I'd be able to get it for $4 from Chewy as they have a delivery service that would deliver the same amount for $40. I'm using a GoodRX coupon at Safeway but had to make sure MY name isn't on the pill as the pain clinic makes you agree you won't go to more than the pharmacy on record and Gabapentin is something they prescribe though not at that low of a dose. Anyway waiting for the call to go get it. My roommate is making us tacos for dinner then I'm either going for the prescription or taking a bath. Have a great Thursday!

@vegan4lyfe2012 I don’t think we have a program like Double Bucks, but that would be great and I’ll have my niece look into it. She can go to our local farmers market for produce, which is nice when she can make it there. I haven’t done the gel yet, but I’ll let you know how it goes. :)
@Katmary71 Yes, I am very pleased with myself too! I’ve never lost this much in one month and now I just need to keep the momentum going for February. :) It's too bad your vet doesn’t keep those meds on hand, like mine. I hope you get the call today.

@laurelfit57 Awe, look at little Ty!! <3

Good morning! Well, another shoe has dropped. Due to the POS and all the cop visits, my niece got an eviction notice yesterday. We don’t know how long she has to get out or where she is going to go! They all have terrible credit, and she and her dad have only been on their jobs for a couple of months. I am willing to co-sign and pay whatever needs to be paid, but we have to find someone willing to let us do that. It’s a hot mess, and we are all very stressed out. Joe had a bad nightmare last night at two a,m and then I lay awake until around 4:30 am. Just praying and trusting we will get through this, which we will. :/

@TeresaW2024 Thank you, me too! I bet there are some funny videos. I was worried I would say something stupid (and hopefully I didn't lol). Thank you! It would be good to get the crap out of our food. Yeah I think it's kind of interesting that you can go to fast food and get it with your EBT card (maybe that's a California thing?). I bet that hearing was interesting indeed. I hope the gel helps your nails. I was taking Biotin for a while and it made my nails stronger.

@vegan4lyfe2012 No cane! Thank you! I'm glad you are feeling better. That's great you went swimming and got some healthy food for the house. LOL I won't tattle on you if you won't tattle on me for my lazy Friday work-from-home days! I'm glad you got some rest. I hope your day was fabulous.

@FushiaKat Decluttering is on my list, too. Good luck!

@Katmary71 Yeah I felt good yesterday! You are probably right about my body becoming healthier. The dentist went okay but I had some side effects from the laughing gas (see previous post). Getting off diabetes medicine is HUGE too! And getting in and out of the car easier. Congrats! What a hassle with Asher's medicine. That's unfortunate that the vet isn't cooperating. I hope you enjoyed the tacos.

@laurelfit57 I'm glad to hear you have made good progress. I hope all went well with the gym stuff. I'm glad you were going to listen to your body. The biggest challenges...getting bored with eating pureed foods (I don't think I will ever want to eat another pureed food lol), and my husband had a bag of Doritos in the house (Doritos are my binge food). He ate them slowly throughout the week and it was difficult on me but I want him to be able to eat what he wants. It was just really tough. Exercise has been a challenge as well: I had planned on walking on my breaks at work but my knee has been giving me trouble so I can't really do that. I may try again. HAPPY GOTCHA DAY TO TY!!! She has grown so much! Such a cutie.

Hi all. Well, lunch went great except I accidentally drank from a straw for part of my water intake. I stopped immediately when I realized what I was doing. I ordered grilled salmon with as little oil or butter as possible, mashed potatoes, and steamed spinach. I ate all of the salmon (it was about a 4 oz piece) and a little of the potatoes and spinach. I took the leftovers home and had them for dinner. I had no ill effects from eating.

@Katmary71 – The liver issue is something women can develop during pregnancy and it will go away after baby is born.

@laurelfit57 – Awww Happy Gotcha Day, Ty! She’s so cute 😊

@TeresaW2024 – Seriously? Is that even legal to evict someone in this situation? I’d be contacting Legal Aid to find out. I don’t think they are supposed to do that when it’s a domestic violence issue. Now I am super mad!

@trooworld – I had a great Wednesday (more below)! Tell me again why you aren’t supposed to use a straw, please. Awesome job with dinner and so glad you didn’t have tummy issues.

I had a wonderful Wednesday. Sydney and Oliver came over around noon so she could do her nails (she didn’t work until 5pm). I did a bit of food prepping – baked sweet potatoes, baked tofu, cooked millet, steamed yukons, steamed asparagus, cut up all the salad goodies (romaine, carrot, cabbage, celery, radish), cut up a fresh pineapple, and made balsamic sauteed mushrooms and onions. Whew! I even kept up with all the dishes, too! Oliver helped with the tofu…stirred the cubes up with the seasoning with the special little wooden spoon I keep for him. So cute! Then he sucked on the spoon LOLs. Tasty nooch 😊 I made sure my lunch bag was packed for today, too. Then I settled down with a tasty cup of tea before bed. Here’s what my dinner looked like...but minus the tomatoes cuz when I looked closer, I could see they were already sprouting
    qo0w024f1pwi.jpg

This afternoon I’m taking my mother to a doctor appointment. I know she’s gonna want some type of fast food afterwards…either Burger King or Taco Bell. I have to stay strong and not get anything from either place. After that, I promised Hunter we’d hang out for a bit. She’s trying to eat healthier, too, but if she wants to eat out somewhere, it’s gonna be hard not partaking, too. If you think about me, say a little prayer, please!

    2025 is MY year!

@laurelfit57 Happy Gotcha Day to Ty! I love that photo in the snow (and the other but you can see the fiestiness in the latter). I'm glad you're headed to the gym I'm sure the heat will feel amazing. Glad you're recovering well.

@TeresaW2024 The vet has a delivery prescription service, they gave me 20 pills then you find out after that it's more expensive than everywhere else for meds. You've been amazing this year keep up the great work! Oh no I'm so sorry to hear your niece is going to have to move. Sending prayers and love you and your family's way.

@trooworld Thank you! I hope the dentist noted to wait awhile next time you get laughing gas before giivng you more. Do you usually have issues? I hope that's the only reason for the issue is it was too much. That's wonderful there's no issues from eating, does this mean you're transitioning into more solid food now? Hugs that would've been torture having Doritos in the house.

@askewcr Woot woot glad to hear how well you're doing, yay! Keep it up sounds like you're ahead of the game here which is amazing.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Wow that's some awesome prepping! Love Oliver helping that's adorable. Your meal looks delicious! It's too late now but prayers you avoided temptation!

@DrewsAnna Ugh oh hugs to you!

DO YOU LURK? DO YOU VISIT THE CHAT PAGES OF OTHER TEAMS, BUT DON'T COMMENT? No though I've accidentally posted my responses to the wrong team when in a lot of pain, I don't even know how I did that! I used to lurk in forums and I do on social media comments and blogs. Since we lost the feed here I tend to just come to this group and post then leave MFP (I'm on LoseIt but not like how I used to be here).

Hi friends! I got Asher's prescription, I decided to wait and see how he's doing as it's been 24 hours and he's glued to the window looking for the neighbor's cat which is frustrating. We have a huge storm coming through and the barometer pressure woke me up at 4AM last night, it's going to be a challenging few days especially working tomorrow. My roommate and I are going to the mushroom store for a kit for her daughter-in-law's birthday in the morning too so it's going to be a long day! Have an awesome Friday everyone.

@trooworld Well, at least we in Georgia don’t allow EBT to be used for fast food. :D I’m glad you were able to eat solid food and didn’t have any side effects from it. I know you are tired of the pureed food. Yesterday, I talked to my mom about her carnivore eating and am amazed at how much she still loves just eating meat. I would die of boredom! :D

@vegan4lyfe2012 Well, the boyfriend and her dad aren’t on the lease, so they have that on her. Add that to the multiple police reports, and they have cause. Also, they are flipping these units and raising the rates. Kayla lives in one of the old units and has complained a lot about the horrible appliances. At least we have one month to figure it all out. :/ What a nice day you had. You can stay strong at the fast food places or get something to eat. Be strong!! :)

@Katmary71 Does Asher want to be friends or enemies with her neighbor's cat? Stay safe in the storm! <3

Good morning! I’m so happy that I had a great night’s sleep. Joe might be getting another UTI, so I will test him this morning and see if we need to run to Urgent Care for some antibiotics. He has been very unsteady on his feet all week and keeps wanting to pass out on me. I'm not ready for another stage of dementia, so I'm hoping for a UTI, or maybe he needs another shot for his low hemoglobin. :# My niece has until the end of February to get out. We are just praying for the right place at the right price. And in some fun news, according to my Happy Scale app, I have lost 11.6 lbs. this month! The goal for next month is to do it all over again! :)

@askewcr I'm glad you are doing so well. Congrats on the loss.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Wonderful! Oh, the straw thing: The air in my belly can cause an obstruction which would be very bad. Thanks! Good job with the food prep! That's a lot to prep but I bet it really helped. Yummy looking dinner. Were you able to stay strong? Thinking of you!

@Katmary71 I don't think they realized there was a problem: I didn't say anything. I just went out to the car and sat for 20 minutes. I think it also had to do with my surgery, I process things faster than a regular person. I am transitioning to sold foods! Yeah, the Doritos were torture. :( I hope the prescription helps Asher. I hope the pain isn't too bad, Kat. Have a good day.

    @AmbersWay Congrats on the loss!

@TeresaW2024 Ah good! Isn't it ridiculous? I am so tired of pureed foods. I am done with them! lol I would die of boredom on the carnivore diet as well. I'm glad your mom is doing so well. Yay for a good night's sleep. I hope Joe is okay and it's not a new stage. Hopefully your niece can find a place quickly. Wow, awesome loss this month!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Do you lurk? Do you visit the chat pages of other teams, but don't comment?
Not here. I do lurk on Reddit though. ;)

Hi all. I am doing well. I lost 3.4 lbs this week, a total of 10 lbs in January. I'm pretty happy about that. I cannot see much of a change yet, I can see a little in my face. Last night, I made myself some shrimp sauteed in some spices and a little bit of olive oil + some sauteed spinach. It was really good. I'm glad to be off pureed foods.

@Katmary71 – Oliver is too cute. That barometric pressure is painful. Hugs. Sounds like this roommate is a good fit and you’re becoming fast friends!

@TeresaW2024 – I didn’t think about the fact that butt-munch had been living there but not on the lease, so that would be their cause. Still stupid, IMHO. Prayers for Joe. And nice job on your loss this month – that is phenomenal! What do you think is the #1 reason? I need to copy you.

@trooworld – Air bubbles would really hurt! Glad you realized when you were doing it. The food prep happened here and there throughout the day, so that helped. If I tried doing everything all at once, I would’ve gotten flustered and given up. And no. I didn’t do good. (see below) Awesome job on the weight loss! So glad you can have real food again 😊

As I figured, my mother wanted Burger King after her appointment yesterday. I ordered her Impossible meal on the app and didn’t get anything for myself. Woot Woot! But then, also as I figured, Hunter wanted to go to Moe’s for dinner. I decided that would be ok and I kept saying over and over in my head, “Enjoy the bowl, but no chips!” I ate most of the bowl. I got my free Birthday cup of guac that I planned to use on my toast in the morning. I took the chips home. Why? Why didn’t I leave the chips there? UGH! We did some shopping at Wal-mart and it didn’t go as planned and I got irked. Took Hunter home and then I promptly ate the entire bag of chips and all the guac. That triggered something more in me and I wanted all the junk. Ate a couple spoons of peanut butter. That didn’t satisfy me. So I grabbed my salad, which was a good choice, and topped it with some baked tofu, another good choice. Then I saw the last of the Hidden Valley plant based ranch that Hunter had left. Yes, I did. Topped that salad with at least 300 calories worth of dressing and ate that big bowl at midnight. When will I ever get control of myself?!? I mean c’mon, Jennifer! You’re freaking 51 years old and can’t control yourself when food is involved.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Do you lurk? Do you visit the chat pages of other teams, but don't comment? No. I can hardly keep all of your lives straight! LOL

2025 is MY year! (Is it? Cuz you coulda fooled me this month.)

    Hi 👋

Good news! I was able to get help for Chipper xrays.

Bad news, he needs TPLO surgery.

I am currently waiting for an estimate, so I can work on getting help for his surgery.

I'd love to have my best buddy out walking with me this spring/summer. If I can't do surgery, they will put together a pain regimen for him, but if I can avoid it, I will. I hate having him drugged up.

@AmbersWay No worries impressive weigh in!

@bethanie0825 Right on great job! Good vibes right back atcha!

@TeresaW2024 That's great you can't use EBT for fast food. I'm not real sure how they'd manage telling people what they can eat with their grocery money, unfortunately it only stretches so far and with our food system it's a lot easier to stretch cheaper less-healthy food. Honestly that's one reason why I'm so glad our food bank has the farm, when I first was diagnosed with diabetes the people in diabetes groups could never get food on their diets from the food banks and I'm happy to volunteer supporting that. Wow I'm impressed your Mom is still doing awesome with carnivore! Our @19shmoo69 loves it too. I'm glad Kayla doesn't have to be out right away. Hugs praying Joe is getting a UTI and nothing worse. You've really rocked January, what an impressive loss! LOL I like your answer about other chats! I've honestly wondered that too, I'm friendly with people in other groups and they're awesome people so I'd imagine they're all good but I'm happy where I'm at thanks to a certain captain with your name!

@trooworld Woohoo awesome weigh in for you too! LOL I'm a Reddit lurker too, funny. High 5 on your total loss for the month, yay! I'm glad you're off pureed foods too don't want you getting tired of them since there's some good ones like butternut squash soup. I bet actually chewing something and having a lot of flavor was the best!

@vegan4lyfe2012 I was thinking of you tonight my roommate and I made skinnytaste's black bean sweet potato bowls which has a bunch of ingredients that I'll be able to mix and match for a few days (sweet potatoes, rice, black beans, taco meat, greens from my garden, and a chipotle yogurt dressing). Chips are one of those hard things to control and are great at starting the chain reaction. Next time don't get the chips and you learned something from this (I don't want you beating yourself up). I think while on the one hand it is real upsetting to have a binge you're also handling a lot of things that aren't within your control pretty darn well and doing great at being a rock for ALL of your family during challenging and hard times and happen to be a pretty incredible woman/mom/grandma/friend/daughter. Hahaha love your ice breaker answer!

Hi team! Another tough night without a lot of sleep, we haven't had much rain and need it but I'm definitely not a winter fan. I ran to the store for Sumo mandarins that were on sale then my roommate and I went to the mushroom store so she could buy a kit for her daughter-in-law. I think I'm as excited as her to follow how it goes! I went to work and the practitioner wasn't there after 20 minutes and I was freezing in my car so texted I was going home for awhile and would be back. I was so tempted to stay in bed with my kitties! Her mother fell a couple days ago and may be having back surgery so she's more scattered than normal, as grumpy as I was I didn't want to let her down. She had back-to-back patients so I worked on emails and did what I could to help hold things together. I've decided to wait a few days to see how Asher's doing as far as meds, he's been glued to the window more than I'd prefer “protecting” the house. Tomorrow's garden club, not sure if I'm going or not I'll see if I get some sleep. Have a great Saturday friends.

@trooworld, Congrats on your great loss this week! I’m with you in that I don’t see much weight loss in me yet, other than my face being slimmer and my underwear not being as tight. :D

@vegan4lyfe2012 I genuinely believe that the thing that has helped me the most with my weight loss is that I stopped snacking between meals. Every time we eat, we ignite our insulin, which immediately stops weight loss. So, when I’m feeling that growl in the afternoons and evenings, I embrace it and know that is where the magic is happening! :) Digging into why you took those chips home and then followed with a binge is so important to you stopping the behavior. I am reading a good book right now about how our binge eating is really a spiritual battle in your mind. You might like it! Full

@DrewsAnna My Maggie Mae had that surgery, and it’s not cheap. I hope you are able to get it done and get your buddy back out walking with you. :)

@Katmary71 Oh I agree with you that if the food stamps change their criteria, they better lower food prices first. I’m sorry you had a tough night and hope you can start getting better sleep. I know how much it affects me when I don’t sleep well. I’m also very happy that you are in this group. <3

Good morning, and happy February! I was happy to get another good night’s sleep. Joe seems much better, so I won’t worry about the UTI. As always, I will keep a close eye on him. My day yesterday was spent on my niece and her housing situation. She isn’t going to be able to rent anything. There truly isn’t anything for a girl with no money, bad credit, and four kids and her dad. And of course, I will NOT see them in some slum or, even worse, living in my house! So, we are going to buy them a home! And yes, I’m freaking out about it. I called my financial planner, and she isn’t thrilled but knows and understands that I have no choice. Details on how to go about the mortgage and tax implications are all things that need to be worked out. I’m calling my dear friend, who has been my real estate agent for my last two houses, to help us. I will also talk to my tax attorney on Monday and have a Zoom call with our financial planner on Tuesday, who is talking to their lending department. Yes, I’m stressed, but I pray and trust God to lead us to the correct conclusion. I want my niece to have the chance I was given when I met Joe. I was so broken and was miraculously delivered into the life I’ve lived for the last 20 years. I want Kayla and those kids to have that same deliverance.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Yes! Oh that's good you did it in stages. Thank you! I'm sorry about the Moe's/home incident. Do you think it was emotional eating?

@Katmary71 Congrats on the loss! Thank you. Reddit is fun to lurk on but it's too overwhelming to post there lol. I'm glad I'm off pureed foods, too, but honestly I am really tired of them so I doubt I'll have any for a very long time lol. It was good to chew something. I'm sorry about the rough night. I've never had a Sumo mandarin but have heard they are really good. I hope you got some good sleep and get to go to the garden club.

@DrewsAnna I'm so glad you were able to get Chipper's x-rays. I hope you can get help for the surgery.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you! OH I'm with you on the underwear. And actually, my pants are fitting better as well. Before surgery, I was gaining weight but I swore up and down I wouldn't buy any bigger clothes (and I didn't). I just wore too-tight clothes that probably looked awful. Now, they are fitting properly. I'm glad Joe is better. You are so generous to buy your niece a home, what a gift for her and her family! I hope it works out.

Hi all. Yesterday afternoon, I cleaned our fridge. It was such a pain because stuff got gunked up under the drawers at the bottom and I had to use a scraper to get it off. Ugh. It took me 2 hours to clean it! This morning, I am meeting a friend at water aerobics. She said she is going to ask the temp of the water and if it's too cold, she's not going in lol. If the water is too cold, we are going back to the place she's dogsitting at. It has a hot tub, so we'll go in the hot tub for a while. That's the only solid plan I have today. I will likely go for coffee with my husband and get some groceries at some point.

I think I had a good January. Wohoo!

Sorry I am not checking in more. My schedule has been so busy. I have managed to keep the house stocked with my healthier options and getting as close to 10k steps daily as possible. That’s all I could do this month.

I hope you all are doing great.
