Hi! My name is Kristi and I'm 42, married with 3 kids, 3 dogs and 4 guinea pigs. I live near Spokane Washington in the US. I work part time as a school based occupational therapist. Last month I really didn't make any progress. I had a slow start followed by all 3 of the kids having influenza A. Not sure how my husband and I have dodged all the illness...yikes. It's going around the schools like crazy. One of my classrooms had 2 kids today!
I finally have a good week of logging calories. This is the biggest thing I need to do. It matters more than anything else I do for weight loss. That's my only goal this month. Log and stay in my calorie budget.4 -

That's great, I'd love to have you on the step challenge. For any new members inquiring, I'm the co-captain of this team and my job is to host the step challenge.
All steps and intentional exercise minutes count. Our weeks run Sunday to Saturday. To join, just let me know you're interested and give me your daily step target. Then, post your steps and exercise by day, and I'll record them. Some jump on and post every so often, some send me their whole week at once - either works! Just make sure starting Sunday of the new week that you post for the week prior so that I can count you in my report. I usually try to wait as long as I can though for anyone who needs a few extra days to report.
I'm Ashley, 38, living in Alberta, Canada.
I lost 120 pounds with this group hitting my goal weight back in 2022 and then I proceeded to gain almost all of it back after a stressful job change in 2022 and then a bunch of other excuses I never left though and continue to work on turning things around. After gaining in 2023 and 2024 my focus this year is to lose for the year. So far so good! It's been slow progress but at least it's been progress.2 -

My new inhaler has a steroid in it. I'm not sure how that will impede my weight loss, but I guess we'll see.
@ashleycarole86 -
Thursday, January 30 - 4,193 steps (bad sinus headache)
Friday, January 31 - 2,992 steps (bad sinus headache)
Saturday, February 1 - 47 steps (bad sinus headache)
Sunday, February 2 - 2,251 (forgot my watch on the charger)
Monday, February 3 - 6,010 steps, 3 games of bowling
Tuesday, February 4 - 6,572 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Wednesday, February 5 - 3,910 steps (knee pain)2 -
@MaddawgMadsen I don't usually see people gain weight from a steroid inhaler. It's usually just the pills. The inhaler just affects your lungs and doesn't get absorbed into the whole body. Same as the inhalers don't typically cause blood sugars to increase like the steroid pill does.
Today I have had more energy! I think I slept better for the most part last night too. Since my surgery, I have been averaging 9-10 hours of sleep every night 🙈
I have a dinner to go to tonight and we are going to the in-laws to watch the superbowl. 2 days I will have to be careful.
Anyone else watching the game? Who are you rooting for?3 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy so easy to do, nuts are so delicious but they're a calorie bomb!!
@lauren_989 I'm glad your energy is coming back! Healing really takes it out of you. Sleep as much as you need until you're healed.
I'm mostly back on track, but of course I have a good friend's birthday tonight that involves wine, dinner, coctails etc etc. I'll take it easy, but it's going to be impossible to track (multi course dinner at a fairly fancy restaurant) and I am determined to enjoy it.1 -
Hi friends! Sorry I haven’t been around much. I’m avoiding looking at my phone. Too much bad news in the US. I had flu A then my SIL and granddaughter, now my pregnant daughter. Still taking my husband to OT twice a week. Not to mention so much sickness at school. The plane crash in Philadelphia recently was 6 miles from my house and just so sad. Our country is in total crisis. So I’m doing what I can and trying to not be on the phone as much. I have made a LEGO greenhouse and made some jewelry.I have a dinner to go to tonight and we are going to the in-laws to watch the superbowl. 2 days I will have to be careful.

We are definitely watching the Super Bowl! Being from Philly, we love our EAGLES 🦅. I’ll just have to turn away from the TV if they show certain people in attendance.
I’ve been calling my Congressmen. Trying not to stress eat and keep sane. Sounds like you all are doing pretty well, so I apologize for being a “Debbie Downer”.
Kay - Hope you’re feeling better and have been able to hit the slopes.
Lauren - Glad your post op recovery is going well.
Nice to hear from you Kristi. Glad you’ve avoided flu so far. Hope your kiddies feel better.
@gidgetgoescrzy I remember when your son left for boot camp. He’s done already. We must be old friends.
So for now, I will try to be better about checking in. Log my food and stay at my calories. Not much exercise going on here. I’m so over winter. 🥶 Although did have the day off today because of ice.

@Kali225 - I am so sorry to hear you feel so crappy on your trip! I hope the meds the doctor gave you help and you can enjoy the rest of your time in France!
@lauren_989 - thank you for the information about the inhaler. I'm very much the type that avoids medications at all costs, so there's a lot I don't know.
@micki48 - I have been on my phone and it has been stressing me out. I'm glad you are able to distract yourself and avoid the things you do not want to see.
For the Super Bowl, I am going to a friend's house to watch the game. They are all from Kansas City, so huge Chiefs fans. My husband and I are rooting for the Eagles. I hope they don't kick us out of their house. Oh, and they're big eaters. The husband is making smoked turkey AND pulled pork. They asked us to bring a side, so I suggested to my husband that we bring a veggie tray. He laughed a little and said, I think they want potato salad or something. So, I am going to come up with a healthy potato salad (or something similar) to make and bring as well as veggies for myself.0 -

Thanks Ashley!! My goal is do 10k steps everyday. Couple of days I hit them and some I missed. Hoping this challenge keeps me upto it. I will most likely post on Sunday.
On last Amazon prime day event, I ventured out and bought the walking pad. That’s been helping me to move a lot more than I was able to do before. If anyone still debating, it’s totally worth it.
Your story is inspiring. So glad you never gave up. I have struggled with weight most of my life but learned to just keep going. This year health is my top priority as well.2 -
@MaddawgMadsen can you bring potato salad and a veggie tray? Then you stick to the veggies while others have the potato? Another option I have seen many times (I haven't tried it yet) is to take what mayo and only use 1/4 (of whatever the recipe calls for) mayo and then 3/4 plain greek yogurt.
I ate wayyyyyy too much tonight 🙈 Well I didn't think I did until my stomach is telling me otherwise. I am also super thirsty, so definitely had a lot of salt too.
@micki48 good for you calling your congressman! And that's scary the plane crash was only 6 miles from your house!
@tim_1383 I have heard good things about walking pads! We currently have a treadmill but if anything happens to it, I would replace it with a walking pad as we don't do much running on it.0 -
@lauren_989 - I plan on doing a veggie tray and potato salad. I started the Whole30 in January and really like the way I feel, so I am still dairy free which means no Greek yogurt. I plan to do an herbed salad like this one: https://cookieandkate.com/herbed-potato-salad-recipe/1

I did not eat the best yesterday, was over my calories, flet bloated this morning. It was worth it though as I took my kids out for some fun. I'm back on track today and still feeling good about my week overall. I have worked out 5 out of the 6 days this week. My husband and I cleaned off our treadmill yesterday and both started using it again. I would like a walking pad for my sit to stand desk for work but will make do with my under desk exercise peddler 😀, which I have been using pretty regularly during work meetings.
Also, going to the in laws for superbowl. Trying to find some healthier recipes/dishes to make as it is a potluck.2 -

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet this week. Similar to what @micki48 shared, I’ve been a little overwhelmed by the last couple of weeks of news here in the U.S.
My dietician and I talked about starting to slowly wean myself off the metabolic pills my doctor prescribed back in July, so I am happy to see that I was still able to lose weight this week. I have noticed that my hunger has increased a bit so to help, I have been having more protein-focused snacks like Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts, or a protein bar that is also high in dietary fiber.
My energy levels have also not taken a dive with weaning off the medication. I have still felt pretty good to do my workouts in the mornings and still be productive after work like taking my dog on a walk, preparing dinner, and doing the dishes. Prior to my weight loss trend, I barely had enough energy after work to do those activities.
I have spin class this morning, followed by Cooking Club tonight where I am making chicken noodle soup. I’m hosting, so my theme is comfort food. We will definitely need it with a snow storm we’re getting this weekend.
@lauren_989 - We will just be watching the game at home, feeling good about not having any vested interest in either team. My household is a Patriots household, so we’ve had our fair share of stressing over the Super Bowl in the past. A lot of my co-workers are Eagles fans so they have been pretty excited all week.1 -

So we found out last week that my daughter is pregnant
again...
Then we found out on Tuesday...
She's having twins...I'm still in shock
She was doing really good until Thursday and she started the throwing up and not stopping thing...
it's called hyperemesis gravidarum (HG)
She had it through her first pregnancy - 18 hospital visitsWe had our fingers crossed but looks like it's happening again - they actually said it's more common with twins - I feel so bad for her because there's nothing that can really be done except going in and getting hooked to IV fluids and IV anti-nausea meds...but sometimes she has to wait in the waiting room....so stupid...when she doesn't really even need a bed just a hook up...
