Hi, all. I hope that I'm not creating the weekly post at the same time as someone else. I used to get online earlier, but these days, I get up and have coffee and read the paper, shower, dress, and make the bed, and then it's time to hit the road to get to treatment. From there I go to the mall to walk, drive home, eat lunch, do a couple of chores, and puff--the day is almost gone. But today was treatment 13 of 21. Only 8 more to go!
I won't know what to do with myself once this routine changes.
I was a little nervous about today's treatment being cancelled due to snow, but we only got 4 or 5 inches, and they pre-treated the roads, so travel was no problem. In fact, because the schools were closed anyway, traffic was light. The only problem was the bozo's who do not have a garage and don't clean the snow off the top of their cars. These are often folks who drive super-fast, too, so all that snow flies back on the cars behind them. But this was a wet snow that stuck to the bare trees and so it was pretty outside at least. Sheesh and Kelly, I know this amount of snow is nothing to you, and it used to not be much to us, but in recent years, we just don't get that much here in the DMV.
Thus, far, I am not having a lot of side effects from the radiation. There are some--stiffer arm and shoulder, some itching and some little blisters--but nothing I can't deal with. And for the past few days, my lower belly has felt better--not totally normal, but better. I did find out that my sister's step-granddaughter does have colon cancer, and she will soon be transferred to a larger hospital for surgery. Maybe it's my age, but I just seem to hear about more people having colon issues now.
As far as our goals go, I am still struggling to drink as much water as I should. Intake wise, I'm still watching what I eat and avoiding things that are hard to digest or too spicy, so that has helped me stay pretty much within my calorie range. I do hope that I can soon add things with more fiber like more fruits and vegetables. I am eating both now but being picky about which ones and how they're prepared.
Before I go, here are my 7-day averages. With steps, I do good on weekdays, but weekends are a little harder. Same with kcals burned. On weekends, both go down.
Steps = 10,477
Kcals Burned = 1,772
Looking forward to hearing from everyone. And before I go, where do you ladies shop for clothing that is a little dressier than every day. Not fancy--just not real casual. As I walk in the mall (and this is a mall with some high-end stores), I'm just not seeing things that appeal to me. Everything seems to be for young women or tall women. I need to buy a "go out to eat" outfit.

Good morning - Sarah - glad to hear the treatments and schedule is working for you.
Not a lot to add this week. Still logging. Still not feeling super great. Therapy is helping, but still hurts at the end of the day.
One of my dear friends had to undergo quite a major and lengthy surgery yesterday. Her hubby sent me a text at 1030 pm that she was now in ICU and in good care (ICU was expected for the next 3 days). I believe I've shared that she was recently diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. So my thoughts are with her and her family today. I'm sure she's in good hands, but she's still on my mind.0 -

Slowly but surely. I was disappointed this morning because I thought I was 171.3 last week, but am pleasantly surprised when I looked back to my last week's post! I made mostly good food choices this week and stuck to my goals - steps, water and food tracking. I'm very proud of myself. I have been getting up in the morning at 4:45 before work to do the treadmill. Stress is at an all time high as I'm insanely busy at work, cause I'm covering for another person in an executive assistant role, as well as doing my own job for the next 3 weeks... plus the stuff with selling our house, but I feel like I'm managing quite well. I'm making sure to take care of me and do things I want... so I'm taking a bath when I want to relax and read my book, which I'm loving at the moment.
Busy weekend coming up with 2 dogs, 1 kid and the hubby and we're in the middle of a deep freeze, so that should be interesting. We were planning to go to the cabin for the weekend, but it might just be too cold for that. We'll see.
Sarah - You sure are a trooper. 8 more to go!! And we definitely have those same people that don't clean the snow off their cards *insert face palm*
Lois - So sorry to hear about your friend. Thinking of you!!0 -

Sorry to be posting late . . . I'm feeling almost 100% this week. Good thing because my son, DIL and 3 grands are coming Monday for their winter break. They'll be skiing most days, but we're also having a birthday party for the 7 year oldAnd, of course the cooking . . I'm mostly just tired these days. In the evening I get a low fever (99 F) and body aches. I told my hubby it feels like I run on solar power, and when the sun goes down, I'm done. My trainer is in Mexico, so it could be that I'm not getting enough activity. I'm hoping to make a gradual comeback.
Sarah, I'm so excited that you're getting closer to the end of treatments! Good work. This will be done and done very soon. You're keeping your stats in excellent shape too. It's sad about your sister's step granddaughter. It feels like there is a lot of colon cancer. I wonder if there's just something wrong with our food.
Lois, I'm happy you got to see Rhea. And, that you got some PT. My goodness, I'm so sorry about your friend. .
Kelly, congratulations on the reduction! And, on sticking with your goals. Enjoy a warm, snuggly weekend. By the way, I must apologize for our President threatening your Country. (among others) He most certainly does not speak for me.
I had a haircut today, and it was snowing when I went there. My stylist's assistant came from one town about 25 minutes south, and it took her 1.5 hours and she saw 8 accidents! People going 60 mph while it's snowing like crazy. What the heck is wrong with people?
Must run. I'll check back tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day my dear friends. Wishing you all a day filled with love and happiness (and not too many sweets).
Still logging my foods. added one fiber gummy per day. Not noticing too much change overall. Still a bloaty tummy. My back is easing up a bit. Still a little tender, but I hope it truly is improving. We have Disneyland in a couple of weeks. and just found out last night more Rhea time before the trip as well.
Easy plans for this weekend. Rhea and her family will be heading up north for the long weekend to visit her great grandma. I may go to Kelsie's soccer game in the morning - weather permitting and how my back feels in the morning for the drive and to sit in a field chair for two hours. and Sunday - hoping to meet up with our grandson to celebrate his 17th birthday. Maybe we can merge the soccer and lunch into Saturday - awaiting confirmation on Cameron's football tourney this weekend and availability.
Gosh - we're getting rain here, but thankfully no snow. Arizonans can't drive in the rain, let alone add snow...eeek. (just thought it not raining too bad I can surprise (embarrass Kelsie haha) by wearing my Minnie Mouse rain jacket at her game...lol She's not a girly girl like Rhea.) and it's cold - for here - low 60's. I know that's not even close to most of your highs but for us in AZ - a bit chilly.
Kelly enjoy your cabin. I'd be bundled up like Randy from A Christmas Story.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
We are low-key about holidays around here but do buy cards and a maybe a few sweet treats. The funny thing today was that hubby and I bought exactly the same valentine for each other! Hubby also got me one from the kitties, and I also gave him some fun socks because I am, after all, in a mall now for more than an hour every day.
Today I was marked up--literally with a black sharpie--for my targeted treatments, which will start on Tuesday. The staff at Hopkins are so nice. I think I will kind of miss seeing them. Today, my technicians gave me a valentine, and they wrote "Thank you for always being so nice," and they also gave me some heart-shaped chocolates wrapped in a doily with fuzzy hearts on it. While in the female waiting area, I talked to another patient just beginning her treatment and hopefully sharing my experience thus far made her less fearful. She was on treatment number 3, and she was diagnosed as stage 2, so once again, I am grateful.
Sounds like we're all managing to focus on the movement, water, and logging. For me, the water part is still the hardest. Any tips with any of those goals are always appreciated. Today, I did make a big cup of hot tea to drink when I sat down for a few minutes after lunch just to get some extra fluid in.
Lois, I hope your tummy issues will continue to improve and that PT helps with the back. My hubby is also doing PT for his back and neck again. It hasn't alleviated the pain, but it's helping. Have a good time with the grands this weekend, but don't overdo.
Sheesh, I'm so glad that you're almost totally over that virus, but mentioning overdoing, please don't overdo with the cleaning and cooking when the CA family arrives. Take care of yourself and just enjoy them.
Kelly, you are doing so good. Unless I'm mistaken, you've come down more than 3 pounds over the past 3 weeks. For us shorties, that's quite a feat. I am so glad that you're putting more of a priority on taking care of yourself. And I second Sheesh's apology. These are scary times for us and times I never imagined would happen. As I've said before, I'm particularly concerned about public health. Lots of firing today at CDC, but my 3 closest friends down there were not among those let go today.
Well, hubby is rumbling about dinner, so I guess I'd better head downstairs. Hope everyone gets a chance to rest and relax some this weekend.0 -
Sarah, I share your fear about public health. I found out that the American Medical Association started a YouTube channel to try to keep the public informed since there now is no communication allowed from government agencies, including the CDC. WTH? Anyway, I subscribed to it.
And, are you starting that final week of your treatments on Monday? They don't take Presidents Day off, do they? Almost there. . good for you! I really have been taking it much easier, and I think it has paid off because I'm feeling much better. Oh, and about your clothing question, I like to shop at Dillards and sometimes at Nordstrom. Nordstrom is great because I can look online, purchase, and pick up (not far from my house), and then if it isn't right, they take returns so easily. They are too pricy for everyday and workout wear, but for nicer and not purchased often, I think they're worth it. Lately I've found that Macy's isn't that great. Also, I don't know if you have it in your part of the country, but I like the Black and White store sometimes.
Lois, I don't mind the Metamucil drink, and it really does seem to be helping. Seems to give me a full feeling too, which might keep my intake more manageable. I think I'll stick with it and the Align for the foreseeable future. And I'll give you the same advice Sarah gave me . . don't overdo it, other than getting to P.T. The grands can really wear me out, lol.
My Cali family gets here tomorrow, so I did Kroger shopping today, and hubby is helping by doing the Costco shop for me. I've planned easy menus and at least one night of take out from a new nearby Vietnamese Restaurant that hubby and I love, and I'm sure our Cali family will too. I'm going to let my trainer come in the morning because the kids don't get here until later in the afternoon. And, I'm not going to clean, but rather have cleaning ladies coming tomorrow too. I'm going to bake cookies now. I know I said I wouldn't overdo, but it's not hard, and I have the recipes memorized.
Hopefully, I'll be able to weigh in and post Wednesday. Take care all, and keep up the good work with your goals.

Happy Monday morning.
My back was a bit tweaky Saturday morning, so I skipped going to the soccer game and we are preparing to replace our downstairs HVAC so hubby had to work on the garage over the weekend to prepare the space for the team to access the handler (I did NOT assist). He still has a lot of work to do. Thankfully the system isn't completely down but limping along. Just checked temps and we may need to get it done sooner rather than later with the temps in the low 80s next week...too soon!!!
Well, I did strip and remake my side of the bed (split kings) and folded the Christmas throws to put into storage on Sunday. And I think that was enough to slightly overdo it. That's how easily it's triggered. Using a lidocaine patch today. Still doing my exercises and I have PT tomorrow and Thursday morning. I'm loving sleeping in the new bed but stripping and remaking is a task with two sets of mattresses. I could only handle one. Hubby did his side.
I'm taking the fiber gummy (sticking with just one per morning until the end of the week and I'll add one more on Friday and see how my tummy goes from there. Adding one each week. And yes, my tummy does feel fuller in the morning. I do not take toast when I make my eggs and bacon or sausage.
The chef is here this morning. I have selected the fall harvest vegetable salad and a pork tenderloin with sweet potato and broccoli. Hubb selected the curry chicken salad and Mexican meatloaf. So we will be set for the week. Just make breakfast (or Starbucks)).
Sarah - hoping this last week of treatment goes as well as the others for you. And I second Sheesh's comment about places to shop. Macy's is my go to for casual, biz casual, but not as dressy options anymore. I'd go Nordstroms if they're close to you. White House Black Market has some nice stuff as well. Keep up the good work.
Sheesh - enjoy those grandkids. Have fun making the cookies. I'll be on Rhea duty Saturday evening as the kids go to a co-worker's party. But nothing too drastic as it will be in the evening and Rhea is more mellow at that time.
Kelly - hoping the cabin time was nice and you still got some movement in. Say warm up there.
