I skipped this morning's workout in hopes to walk Ry for a walk outside. The weather station at the farm behind us is showing 73℉.

My weekend work was cancelled so I finally get an actual break until Tuesday. 😀

We are melting up here as well and it is supposed to be 61 F tomorrow! 😎 There is water everywhere and we are under flood warnings for Sunday and Monday. This is not uncommon as the mountains melt, the rivers and streams over flow and BOOM-water everywhere!!! But, it also mean the loons will soon be here and I have missed them!

Everything went well with Dennis' pace maker surgery and he is so much better! He has been doing this mouth breathing all the time and I noticed it in August and asked him why he was doing it and he said he didn't know, but he felt like he needed more air. Turns out, his heart was beating, but not in rhythm so he needed oxygen but his heart was slow to provide it. He is now only mouth breathing when he does his laps! His health has been a saga for sure!

@Elfirose33 Good goal running up the stairs! I would say it depends on how many steps there are!😉 I run up our stairs but there are only 11 steps soooooooo, is that really a run? 🤣

@Deeder522 Maybe tomorrow I can go out without a coat, but so far, it is still a bit brisk! Spring is coming so hang in there!!! 🐥🌸🌷

@megd44 I have been reading a lot in the comment sections of You Tube videos about people no longer shopping at certain stores (i.e. Walmart, Target etc) or donating money to any organization that does not make a clear equity statement, so it might be wise for now to keep it for sure. I am assuming that part of your organizations budget is donations and I guess people are looking at that more closely. The world has gone Nuts! 🙉

I'm resting tomorrow so I'll see you all for my 4 mile walk on Sunday! Til then-enjoy the spring temps! 😎

I walked outside yesterday for 2.9 miles and it was glorious! It us super hilly where we are and I can feel it in my glutes like crazy. Nothing like nature to nourish the soul and recharge. @Deeder522 it was over 70 here on Friday. 60 right now but we are supposed to get a lot of rain this afternoon.

Did Burn to the Beat this morning. Now to get all the chores done so I can get back outside this afternoon, pending rain. Love having the windows open while I clean.

I did not do any workout or walk on Friday as I ended up getting busy with my fish who is sick. But now I'm realizing that fish care is a workout all on its own! 💪 I used to do Finley's water changes weekly but now during comfort care, I do them every other day until he is either well or passes away (hopefully he will get well!) and I am getting stronger by the day! First, I siphon the old water out of the tank into a 5-gallon bucket (cultivating hand strength) then I lift and carry that bucket full of water weighing 3 gallons or so all the way through the house, outside, and then up a steep hill to put on a specific area of my yard. Then I lift up and pour approximately 3 gallons of clean treated water back into the tank. Whew! After that, a clean up project ensues because I have not yet learned how to not spill the clean water on the kitchen floor (the fish tank is in the kitchen). And I've been doing this how long? A long time! 😄

Yesterday (Saturday 3/15) I took Dottie for a 30-minute walk up and down hills and cross country in cold, grey, windy, winter-like weather, 40 degrees or so. Last night we got some very wet snow, huge flakes, it was great! ❄️ And we got our woodburning stove all fired up too, very cheery! I'm not ready for winter to end, or it may be that I'm not ready for spring 😔 But I'm never ready for spring as I'm allergic to all the pollen that comes in with spring. By summer I'm good.

Today I will be walking Dottie later on, and it would be simply amazing if I could do some restorative yoga 💗

@Deeder522 So glad you get a break! You deserve it 😊

@zichab I remember all about flooding when the mountain snows melt… my mom lived in Montana in the foothills and that happened one year and the flooding was really bad and scary. Hooray for the loons! So glad you will see and hear them soon! I have a nature CD of loons, they are cool! Wonderful that Dennis is doing better, such a relief!

@megd44 Wow, great walk! Windows open while cleaning is the best! So glad for you!

Yesterday, I did a one-mile brisk walk with Leslie. This morning, I did all three miles of Walking to the Hits: All Time Favorites. That's the first time I can remember doing a full three-mile video in a long time. 🤩

Ryan was exhausted from our outdoor walk. We even paused during to give him a break in the shade and another while I tried to snap some pictures of turtles that were sunning by the pond. He admitted that he had been pushing himself a little more b/c he had a few good weeks and felt a little better. ME/CFS can be such a *kitten*. We're back trying to figure out some food options for him again. His body seems to no longer want what his breakfast has been. When you're already so limited on foods, this can be the worst. The body won't tell you what it will accept, you just have to guess.

On Friday, we made contact with a disability lawyer to start his case. We're happy to have found someone finally that will help guide us through that system. She was interested to hear that Ryan had a handicap placard that listed 3 disabilities. It will be a long process, but we can't see him being able to return to work in any consistent manner. Nor can we see any employer being able to make the accommodations that Ryan would need to be able to work as well.

Yesterday was International Long Covid Awareness Day. Long Covid is very similar to ME/CFS.

@Deeder522 that is a lot and so glad you are finding someone to help you and Ryan. I am not familiar with what CE/MFS stands for, but it sounds horribly challenging. Sending lots of positive thoughts and hugs to you both.

@Elfirose33 all that water weight is quite the workout!!

It is snowing here now and have to say i am kind of over it. Did 5 Mega Miles today and probably pushed a bit too hard. We have friends coming over this afternoon so it'll be good to just chill

@Deeder522 Great job walking! And that's fantastic you did a 3 mile video… way to GO!!! ⭐️

@Deeder522 So very sorry to hear about Ryan. You are both in my prayers 🙏 That must be such a relief to have found a disability lawyer to help you move forward on this.

Well, I got my 4 mile walk in and it is kind of a miracle! We have water pouring into our cellar and we have been wet vacing all night long! I was up every hour clearing out the water because I wanted Dennis to sleep. He is healing from his pace maker surgery and needs sleep. We have never had this before and it is scary! Once in a while, if it rains really hard, a little water seeps in but it dries right away and is nothing nothing like this. It must be from all the snow melting so fast. In any event, we are having a sump pump installed this summer!!!! 👍️

@Deeder522 Congratulations on your 3 Mile Walk!!!!! With all you do, just getting the time to do 3 miles at once has to be a challenge! I am so sorry that Ryan is back to figuring out food again. He was doing so well that he has to be totally frustrated with all this! At least you have found a lawyer to work on his case. He certainly has waited long enough to be sure he is not going to be able to work again any time soon. My heart goes out to him. ❤️

@Elfirose33 I can identify with carry water!!! 😂 I am carrying it from our cellar to our downstairs toilet to dump it! It is a good workout and it does strengthen your hands! I would rather not be doing though! 😉 I hope your fish gets well. We had a tank of fish when my son was little and we had to deal with the ich, which I had never heard of before. We lost most of the fish as only a couple were immune. Nasty stuff!

@megd44 I am not over the snow, but I am over the melting snow! 😂 It's also getting pretty dirty now as well and dirty snow is ugly! We may get a snow shower in the morning, but mostly just rain! YUCK!

Monday is St Patrick's Day and I will be making my great-great grandmother's cottage pie (Shepherds pie with beef since no one likes lamb) and her apple cake! I'll be back on Tuesday to work them both off! 🤣

    March Goals

    Miles Tracked: 37 / 65 miles

AW challenge: Complete 5 workouts of 5 or more minutes. ✅ ✅✅✅✅

I must have slept in odd positions last night. I woke up with 1 hand numb and my back feeling a bit achy. I'm scheduled to see our chiropractor later today. Until then, I'll take it a little easy on myself.

@megd44 The snow got to us down here too. The flakes started early afternoon and didn't stop. Nothing like that last push of winter a few days before Spring. It should melt within the next 24 hours. We're back into the 60s Tuesday.

@zichab Oh, my word! Water will always find a way. Sorry, you had to tackle that all by yourself. That sump pump with be a help. We have 1 and our neighbor has 2 in their basement. How is Dennis feeling?

@Elfirose33 I remember the days of water changes for the fish tank. What type of fish is Finley?

Today I did Walk to the Hits all the favorites. Nice pace and a solid 3 miles. I have started jogging around our basement during the HIIT sessions so I can be ready to start the couch 2 5k in a couple of weeks.

Gotta love spring in Michigan! 41 here already, suns out and going to be about 50 today. Hearing everything from upper 40s to 60s tomorrow. Here comes mud season!

Well the water is finally subsiding and we might both be able to sleep in our own bed tonight! We are definitely getting a sump pump this summer! Dennis is doing very well @Deeder522 thanks for asking. He can't do a lot because he can't lift his left are over his shoulder or carry more than 10 pounds in his left hand, so I have to do a lot of the heavy lifting, but he has so much more energy and it is great to see! He can't drive and as we already discussed, that is my only nightmare at the moment! Every day he is stronger and I cannot wait to give up all this driving!!!! 😠

@Elfirose33 we went out today to do some errands and the ice is melting on part of the lake, but no loons were spotted yet. Our house is in a bay and it tends to stay frozen a bit longer than the lake itself does so we have to get out to see them this early. However, we have not heard them either. When we do, I will know for sure spring is not far away. I'll keep you posted!

@megd44 It's 57 here today and everythign is melting, but tomorrow our high is forecasted to be 36F and the low 19F! Winter is not giving up yet I guess.

I'll be back either tomorrow or Thursday, I'm not sure yet. Because of the water problem, we had to change our shopping day and since I am not sure how much energy I will have after we get back, I may just do my second workout tomorrow. In any event, you all have a great evening! 😃

3/16 (Sunday): I walked with Dottie for 20 minutes actual walking time. However, because it was such a nice day everyone was out, and because Dottie is so popular (have I told you all that Dottie is a bulldog?) and everyone that was out wanted to visit with her. 3/17 (Monday): 60 minutes Boot Camp (Circuit Training); walked with Dottie 20 minutes. 3/18 (Tuesday): 50 minutes Yoga & 45 minutes Total Body Stretch (both group classes at my gym). And I walked with Dottie 20 minutes. I can't believe how completely sore I am after yoga and stretching today, I have a ways to go.

My March goal for Tuesdays has changed to: 60 minutes Gentle Yoga & 45 minutes Total Body Stretch (instead of the Les Mills Body Combat class). My chiropractor and I decided that I need stretching on Tuesdays more than a martial arts kickboxing class for now.

Monday, St. Patrick's Day, was a very sad day for me: my little fish passed away. I'm heartbroken. Somewhere along the way he captured my heart. He needed LOTS of care the last two months of his life. And at the beginning too, because I had not a clue one about the basics of taking care of a betta fish. He was a rescue so he came into my life suddenly in a tiny bowl from a friend who couldn't take care of him in anymore. Right away I moved him into a 5-gallon, heated, filtered tank which he loved, but then I had to learn all about cycling a new tank! No easy task and all of it water science—-nothing I knew about when I started. It was a completely stressful immersion into learning something totally brand new in real time, with a little fish life hanging in the balance. It was all totally worth it though! And I gave him a great life, and that's what I need to remember 💙

@zichab Oh no!!! I'm so sorry you are having to go through all that! That is such a hard thing to go through by yourself! You are so strong! Yes, your 4 mile walk was definitely a miracle! Wow. Getting a sump pump will be so good. Thank you. I've never had to deal with ich, but I read all about it when I was trying to figure out what Finley had. Finley developed dropsy, which is mostly always fatal. Your St. Patrick's Day menu sounds delightful! Hang in there with the basement, thinking of you. Great to hear the water is subsiding now. Were you able to catch up on sleep? Great to hear Dennis is feeling better! Hang in there with the driving. This, too, shall pass! Thank you for updates on the loons. The scenery around your house sounds beautiful.

@Deeder522 Sorry to hear, it's no fun to wake up that way. Good idea to take it easy 💗 Finley was a betta fish. Gosh, I miss him! He's irreplaceable, as my dad says. What kind of fish did you have back in the day?

@megd44 Great job! Oh, that's right, thanks for the mud reminder! One of the things I love about spring: getting my feet into the mud in my garden. Looking forward to that!

Today I did Tai Chi class for 30 minutes. This afternoon I walked Dottie for 45 minutes in the cold rain with wind. At times it was sleeting. I only saw one other walker out with a dog. We are supposed to get some snow tonight, but no accumulation.

I was not really in the mood today, but I did 2 miles anyway! They were not really vigorous miles, but they are done! 🤷‍♀️ Some days are just like that I guess!

@Elfirose33-I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Findley! I did not realize he was a Betta. They are very hard to raise and keep healthy. We used to have them when my son was young and between not letting them get chilly, keeping the water changed in the tank and keeping them from killing each other, they were too fussy for me. We had a friend who took them and we got cats instead! LOL I know it sounds dumb, but cats are so easy compared to Betta! Still, it is hard to lose them when you have to work so hard to take care of them and my heart goes out to you. They are beautiful fish. ❤️

We are suppose to have a nice couple of days and then on Sunday, all H is going to break loose. The temps are going down to 9F and we are suppose to get 2-4 inches of snow. We have a ton of dirty snow now and some nice white stuff would be nicer to look at, but some of the trees are beginning to bud and 9F is very cold for buds. I love winter, but this on again off again is annoying! 😒

The lake is still mostly frozen, but has some open water so the Canadian Geese and Woodland ducks have returned, but so far, no loons. Generally that indicates that we can expect a refreeze of the lake where it is melted because loons must have open water to land and take off and somehow they know when the water is there to stay! They cannot get on ice or snow and fly away like geese and ducks can. So, we are still on Loon watch around here. 😊

    See you all tomorrow!

@zichab Gold Star for doing 2 miles when you didn't feel like it!! Well done! ⭐️ Thank you for all your helpful thoughts and comments about bettas, good to know. I only had the one betta, Finley, who was the solitary resident in the tank. That's great you had a friend who took in your bettas. Oh my, yes, cats are super! I have a cat, Sabrina Rose, but we sometimes just call her Nutmeg for short. Cats may be the easiest of all, I think! And they're so funny too 😄 I'm so grateful for her, she's always making me laugh with her funny antics. Yeah, that's a really hard thing about spring is the buds and the deep freeze. We have that problem here too and it's always a bummer. I think it's amazing that the loons know the exact right time to settle. Nature is so cool!

Woke up to a nice dusting of snow this morning. It was just enough to cover up all the ugly brown snow so I am happy! It's 34F outside, but the wind is bitter. I went out to shake my bathroom rugs and I could see my breath!!! That's a bit chilly!!!!

@Elfirose33 thanks for the cheer for my 2 miles! It has been a while since I had a work out day where I did not really feel like working out. I have been so grateful for the energy to do it that it has been exciting! Today was much better though.

I have a rest day scheduled for tomorrow because I want to try a 5 mile walk on Sunday! Not 5 Mega Miles @megd44! I am not ready for that one! LOL I am going to try WAH: 5 Fat Burning Miles. I may not get through it, but at least I'll know. I have done four 4 mile walks and I should be ready for 5 with a rest day before … or not. 🤣 We shall see! Until Sunday ….

Thursdays are usually an exercise resting day for me, but this past Thursday I ended up getting the afternoon off work, a very rare occurrence! So, I took Dottie for a 20 minute walk. Friday was another walk with Dottie, 20 minutes. Today I plan to go to Step class and another walk with Dottie.

@zichab Good morning! You're so welcome, and well deserved! Good:) Energy is everything. Great idea to get a rest day in today to prepare for Sunday. Wow, 5 miles…you can do it! All your miles are impressive!

Good Morning all. Sorry about being awol. We had a dog go missing Tuesday, he FINALLY came home yesterday, so i was a bit of a mess. Then we got a lovely (lots of sarcasm) spring storm that started late Wednesday night. Lost power at 3 am ish on Thursday and it didn't come back until about 7 am of Friday. So grateful we have a generator!! Tons of branches down everywhere. Rich was out of town when all this was happening so it was fun to handle on my own!

Tuesday I did the 3 Mike Walk to the hits. So much fun. Wednesday did an easy mix and match blend, plus did a quick storm hike looking for my pup. Thursday was walking around outside taking photos of the downed branches. Right now only damage appears to be air conditioner. But we will see.

Today I did Burn to the Beat.

@zichab i hope the water isn't causing too many problems. That is tough. And way to keep moving. I plan on doing a 5 mile tomorrow. Cheers to us!

@Elfirose33 I am so sorry to hear about Findley. She/he was lucky to have you ❤️. Great job with your movement and knowing when to rest too.

Saturday: Well, I did not go to Step class yesterday as planned because I ended up being a lazy slug! 😂😴 But I did walk Dottie for 20 minutes around the bend and back. And I did cook all the day yesterday, a favorite pastime! Cooking is like a leisurely meditation in motion for me, very relaxing and healing 😊 On fun cooking days like this, I admit that it would be interesting to know how many steps I did.

@megd44 Good morning! Oh my, that is SO scary when the dog gets loose, have been there myself. That's wonderful he came home!! Such a relief and I'm so very glad for you! Oh wow, and then the power outage. You've really been through some challenging things lately—-great job handling everything!! Hopefully any damage to your AC is not too severe. Your workouts sound fun! (Except for the stressful one searching for your dog in the storm). Anyway, I need to look up some of those workout titles and try them out sometime:) All the best to you on your 5 mile! You can do it!! Aw, thank you so much! 💙 Finley was really my first fish so I was new at everything I tried to do for him, but I went all out to try to save him.

So I did 5 Boosted Miles today to try to see how the pace was as I get ready for the true 5k training to start. Was good for that but think I'll stick to 5 Mega Miles because I like the band work too.

@zichab did you try the 5 Miles? And

Thanks @Elfirose33 it was a crazy couple of days. And the dog was loaded with ticks!!! That is not a good sign for this year since it is March in Northern Michigan. So, got a workout helping Rich bathe him this morning. The pup is over 100 pounds, so it took both of us to get him into the shower. And the aftermath clean up. LOL.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

3/23-WAH-5 Mile Fat Burning Walk-5 miles! WOOT WOOT!!! 🎉 Garmin Miles:

Well, I DID IT!!!! I did the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk, but without the boosted walking at the end of each mile. I just Power Walked it as I am not ready for jogging … yet. I have not done a 5 mile walk in at least 5 years and I am over the moon!!! If I can do this, it means I can hike mountains this summer with my kids and grandkids and I am so excited about that!!! I have not been able to hike even our smallest mountain since we go here in 2020 and now I know I have been iron deficient for a long time. It feels so good to get my active life back!!!!! So, yes I did it @megd44 but not 5 Mega Miles! LOL Soon, but not yet. I am not fond of that 5 Boosted miles DVD either. I think the last time I did it was at least 7 years ago. It is in my collection though so I may try it again.

Oh my gosh @megd44 how scary to lose a dog like that! Ticks … in March!!!!! That is frightening as they should still be frozen!!! I wonder if they are active up here now also. It is very early for them so maybe mountain hiking is not the greatest idea this summer. I'll watch our reports. I am glad you found him.

@Elfirose33 you are not a lazy slug! Some days, we are just not feeling it and we do something else productive, like cooking. 🌮🥩🍗 Nothing wrong with that. It is not like you laid down on the couch, watched TV and ate chips all day! I love getting into a cooking mood as it tends to fill my freezer for those days when I am not in the mood to cook! 😉 You are doing just fine!!! If you want to know how many steps you do cooking, there are a lot of step tackers out there that are very affordable. It is fun to see how many steps we walk, or do not walk, in the course of a day. I love my Garmin even though it is 13 years old!

I will for sure be taking a rest day tomorrow! 😂 We are suppose to get a trace, less than an inch or 3-6 inches of snow, depending on which weather forecast we look at. Stay tuned for the actual result! I'll be back on Tuesday for a planned 3 mile walk. Until then, walk strong! 😃
