Today's Topic: Diet Fatigue

Is diet fatigue something with which you deal? If so, is it constant? Is it cyclical - occurring at different times of the year? Is it something unpredictable, coming on unexpectedly?

How do you deal with it, if it happens in your lifestyle efforts?

There has been times I felt like giving up. Under no circumstances is it constant, very few times I thought of it. It would be because I am gaining and can't understand why.

Giving up really isn't an option.

I experience diet fatigue when I attempt too strict a diet. If I follow a diet that is manageable and sustainable for the long haul, I seldom experience diet fatigue that lasts for longer than a meal or two. If I like the food I’m eating and have set a reasonable weekly weight loss goal, I can do quite well. If I adapt a mindset where too many food choices are off limits or I try to hit a weight goal too quickly, the chance of failure increases proportionately.

I'll occasionally slip into "woe is me" mode - "Why do I have to watch what I eat when others don't?" - but I'd guess that emotion is universal. The best way for me to deal with it is to set some small, achievable goal and go out and meet it.

    I’m well into lifestyle status.

The idea of “quitting” if quitting is defined as eating until stuffed nearly once per day doesn’t enter my mind. But as I’ve said many times I am still subject to point creep which leads to scale creep which eventually leads to a need to visit losing mode.

I find it takes more energy to get my head into losing about anything. I am tired of that. But I’m stubborn. Not going to die fat.

Diet fatigue definitely enters the head. I believe it might be somewhat different in my approach but none the less diet fatigue. Sometimes like this week I'll have one tablespoon of low fat ice cream instead of a bowl. Sometimes I'll just go on a streak thats not dieting for me but I might eat foods I normally wouldn't eat but limit them.

Regardless I do my best to break the monotony of being on a diet by changing the food I eat.

If this doesn't make any sense to you if probably doesn't to me either.
