    Positive - cash bar at dinner meeting = no alcohol tonight!

    Negative - meeting ran 45 minutes late and I enjoyed a big piece of cake.

    “I determine my own destiny. No one decides my path but me.”
    -Shadow the Hedgehog

    I've unironically started quoting this in my head any time I see some social media post suggesting everyone should "give up" anything related to being healthy. A lot of people think you can't change just because they couldn't. Weight loss, an exercise routine, eating right for your body's needs… some people even take it personally if you try. One of my friends used to always say, "Ugh, you make me feel so fat" whenever I'd order water at a restaurant, like I was blaring a bat signal saying "This girl here is BIG" at her forehead instead of just seeking that good hydration for myself (and saving money hello).

    In a year, ElfBodGoals is gonna be the strongest she's ever been, the most hydrated she's ever been, and possibly even have the lowest bodyfat% she's ever had. And she's gonna make some Revenge Guac and have a party.

    Woohoo , I was hoping for more, but I will take it.

    Yesterday was good, but I really need to not buy nuts, they are my downfall, I can't say no.

    Next week is going to be great !

    @lauren_989 Congrats on your 5K and thanks for sharing the pics

    SORRY TEAM! I've been majorly behind, but we have some big life changes happening here.

    Brad got a new job, I gave notice at mine, and we're moving to BC for early May. So, we've been busy listing the house, getting my Mom ready for her move to my brother's (which she was doing regardless of our news), and this weekend we'll go to our new city to find a new place to live.

    I will be in a lot less stress when I get there and I really hope that can be a catalyst to really start re-prioritizing my health.

    Will check in as much as I can but just wanted to do a quick note to explain my absence this last week.

    We're really excited!!! But man it's a lot of work.

    I will take the green even though it isn't much.

    @Gidgitgoescrzy - I am there with you on the nuts. I live in a small area in Colorado, but grew up in Oregon where I regularly ate Oregon hazelnuts. I haven't been able to find any hazelnuts since I moved here, but then I realized my sister regularly goes to Phoenix where they have a Trader Joe's. And, at the TJ's, they have Oregon hazelnuts. Every time I've posted red recently, I've blamed it on travel. I really should be blaming it on the nuts. They're just so good!

    @ElfBodGoals - One of the hardest things I found about losing weight are the naysayers. There will always be people who want to bring you down because they're jealous or they don't feel good about themselves. Finding the motivation you need to make it about yourself seems to be the most helpful thing to do. I am glad you found a mantra you can say to yourself when the naysayers get to be too much.

    @strong_fit_ells - I am so glad you were able to find alcohol free wine! I also discovered a couple of them that I really like. They definitely help curb the cravings. Also, something that has been helping is playing around with mocktail creations. I usually start with a base of plain or flavored soda water (zero calories), then add a splash of juice (lemon, lime, pomegranate, or whatever fruit based juice I have at home), and sometimes some berries. I recently got some hop extract that has been fun to add, too. It's nice to know that I can have a tasty drink that is low calorie and alcohol free. Plus, I tend to save money because all of those ingredients are cheaper than buying alcohol.

    @micki48 - It is nice to hear that it was only the donut that caused all of that for you. Now you have more reason to avoid them in the future, without lasting damage. I am so happy to hear you are alright after that very scary experience!

    @ashleycarole86 & @bowens1973 -

    That is exciting news! BC is GORGEOUS! I might be biased because it is the only part of Canada I have been to (yet). Are you going to Vancouver? It's the only city I know there, but I love it. Oh, that and Victoria Island. GORGEOUS! I am so jealous! Congratulations!

    @ashleycarole86 that is so much news!! congrats on all these things. definitely an opportunity for a big reset of your mindset.

    I had today off to get a bunch of doctor appointments out of the way for the year. I've been pretty down on my body this week, just absolutely hating the way my stomach looks from the side profile. But it was nice to check in with my weight management doctor, who noted that I have lost 14% of my body weight since starting to see her, and that is big. It doesn't even feel like that much, but she said that if I were not to lose another pound from here, the health benefits of losing that 40 lbs is still huge. So that's nice to keep in mind.

    Of course, with no work to structure my day, and running around to these errands, I did not eat well at all. I did work in a nice walk, but I am so tired now, I may even skip my PT exercises, which is bad of me. Oh well.

    Congrats on that positive boost from your doc @Kali225 .. sometimes it's hard to separate the body image side from the health side but the way she reminded you how key that loss was for health is great

    @MaddawgMadsen we are moving to Kelowna which you would love too.. nice lakes, in our Okanagan wine region.. we are very excited

    And thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I really didn't see this on my bingo card until retirement but a change will be really good for me.

    Whew! It has been a very busy few days for me and I am so glad it's Friday.

    My best friend's uncle passed away unexpectedly yesterday 😥 He was a nice and funny guy, always cracking jokes. He was young-ish - in his 60s and was very overweight. I believe that had a major role in it. Makes me think, I need to lose some weight!

    @Kali225 14% body weight loss?! That's a huge celebration!! 🎉

    @bowens1973 great loss this week!
