Hi, all. Sorry I haven't been back around to post in the past few days (did read some posts), but it has been a tough few days in more ways than one. Of course with company coming for Easter dinner, I worked my fool self to death preparing food and cleaning. But dinner was lovely and we enjoyed seeing our friends. But right after dinner, I noticed that my lower belly was sensitive again. A kind of low nagging ache was starting and I recognize that ache now from my last bout with diverticulitis.

I think I mentioned that although my PCP said I could wait until early summer to see the gastroenterologist, I called right after I finished radiation and made an appointment. Typical for specialists, the first appointment was almost two months away anyway. It was scheduled for this Thursday. But suprisingly, I got a call early Monday morning asking if I'd like to take a cancellation at 1:15 p.m. Of course I said yes because by Monday morning, the pain was getting worse. I know I've said it before (more than once), but after years of never being sick, I feel like the wheels are just falling off of me!

Anyway, the doc said that he had carefully reviewed the two CT scans from January and the good news is that he sees no signs of cancer, but he did see a rather large abcess on the one they did a couple of days before I ended up in the hospital. And he said that with that type of thing, it tends to recur and since I've had diverticulitis twice in less than 6 months, he thinks it's time to see a surgeon. He also said that they do that type of surgery by laproscopy now and it's not as big a deal to remove a small section of colon as it once was.

I have to honestly to say that that recommendation did not upset me. I am so ready to not have deal with either having diverticulitis or worrying about it every time my tummy feels off. Anyway, I told him that my PCP told me to keep Cipro and Metronidazole onhand and he said, "Good. Stay on liquids today and get on the antibiotics." So I did, and yesterday I called and made an appointment with the surgeon. But again, I have to wait. The first appointment was for May 20, and of course, I grabbed it. Meanwhile, I'm dealing with pain and bloating and I'm just waiting for the meds to do their work. I was really worried yesterday about the bloating and my weight had shot up a couple of pounds even though I wasn't eating. Monday night I weighed 130.6 and thought, "Okay. I'm usually a pound of two heavier at night, so I'll be below 130 tomorrow morning." But actually, I was up to 132 the yesterday morning! And after being on liquids on Monday.

Thankfully, the bloating is going away, my weight is back down some, and I feel like the meds are beginning to take effect. I'm still tender—especially if I sit still—but I'm not in real pain today. I actually searched to see if it's okay to walk with diverticulitis and found that yes, it is, and sometimes it's even beneficial. So I walked on the TM last night, and actually, the pain was less for a while after that. But I did wake up at 2:30 this morning, stark staring awake with all those "what if" thoughts going through my head. So I expect that I'll need to rest some today.

Sheesh, lying in bed with pain in your ribcage had to be truly scary, too. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to force myself to take deep breaths. I am so glad the rib seems to have put itself back in place. But please be sure to mention this to your doc. Rib pain is the worst, I've heard.

Lois, I'm glad you're finally feeling better and I think cancelling that trip back for the funeral was the right thing to do. I hope you continue to feel better and that your work does not get too crazy. I will send good healing thoughts to your daughter.

Kelly, I do hope that you guys are making progress with your living situation. Anyone would be stressed to the max handling what you've had on your plate the past month or so. But as I often tell myself, this too will pass. I'm happy to hear that you're trying your best to take care of yourself and that your bloodwork was fine.

Well, before I go, here are my 7-day averages:
Steps = 10,592
Kcals burned = 1,691

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

Well, I'm surprised I'm holding steady with the Easter candy around here. I couldn't post yesterday as I had the Utah grands here because my daughter's nanny was out. Wow, a 3 yo and a 1 yo all day are exhausting! But, we had a grand ol' time together :) I was so glad the weather here was nice, and that a pair of ducks are here and visit our backyard for corn, lol. They love seeing them, and it's even more fun when they have chicks. Thankfully, they went down for naps just great this time too.

Sarah, I'm so sorry about the pain and worry you're going through. You take such great care of your health. Life is not fair. But, we all will have our troubles no matter what we do. I know you'll come through it because of the health and fitness you've maintained, and continue to do. Know that we're thinking of you, and keep us posted.

Lois, I'm glad you cancelled some things and are giving yourself some time to recover and heal. I hope you're feeling better now, and that you'll feel well enough to care for your daughter post surgery. I'm sorry, but I think I missed what her surgery is for.

Kelly, like Sarah, I've been thinking about your living situation and sending good thoughts that good things happen for you and your family. It's especially difficult when you're not feeling well, but hopefully you're getting some self care in between all the things on your plate.

WOW Sarah!!!! I am glad the drs are moving forward. And I understand the feeling of gotta do it to get better. That's kind of how I felt with my toenails. I hate surgeries and I hate effing needles, but the pain from the toes were beyond my dislike for the process ickiness. Hopefully that will take place soon and you'll be feeling a bit better once you're healed.

Sheesh - those littles really tire us out…I feel it every time Rhea is here. I think because we're grands, we put a lot of extra effort in making sure they are entertained (and honestly, I LOVE doing stuff with her, not just watching her play). So hubby and I are always tired after she leaves.

I'm on the tail end of my cold/ickiness I think. And hubby is in the middle. He's been coming home from work a couple of hours early each night this week. He's finally partaking of the cold medicines so at least his coughing is not as intense. Due to us being ill, I've had to move my hair appt again from this week to next and housecleaning from this week to next. So I MUST be better by Tuesday next week or I'm going to have 2" of gray roots in California!!!

My work week is INSANE. I don't know if I shared, but we had an upheaval in our design center this past week and I now have two new employees to train on our software and processes. I was in the office yesterday from 9-6 for our first training session. I got home after 7 last night. I didn't sleep well and I'm really struggling today. I did attempt a short "nap" at lunch today, but hubby got a burst of energy and kept shuffling around, so that just made it worse. I was hoping to catch up on work and slip out at 345 to make it across town for Kelsie's soccer game, but I'm too exhausted to drive an hour plus each way (heck I'm too exhausted to possibly stay at my desk until 5 today). I feel like a horrible grandma as I'm not going to make any of her school soccer games this season. I leave next Thursday for two weeks and the championships takes place the week of May 12. I'll still be in California. Hoping she's ok with text support from grams. Sheesh - daughter is having a hysterectomy - it's needed and she'll be better once healed.

Tuesday I had a short burst of energy and so I browned some ground beef and I've been making myself some beef/bean/cheese burritos. I am so tired of soup and toast (hubby is still on soup).

To give an example of how tired I am, my new Brooks runDisney shoes came in Monday and the box is still sealed.

Kelly - hoping all is well with you!

    Happy Monday ladies.

Well, hubby and I both woke up Saturday morning feeling like crud. I reached out to our doctor and got a 10am appt for both of us. Hubby has bronchitis and I have a sinus infection and asthma issues (walrus cough - it's a deep barking cough). We got antibiotics, and I got prednisone and a new inhaler….and lots of probiotics to go with the antibiotics. We've gone through almost a whole large costco bottle of honey (not the cute little bear ones, the Big Mama bottle). I've had to ask the chef to pick up another bottle of honey for us when she comes today. Hot water with honey and lemon juice (again, almost a full bottle of lemon juice this past week as well). For this week's meels I ordered gazpacho with a southwest quinoa salad and hubby ordered minestrone soup and his meatloaf. We've been eating pho and yellow curry and rice for the past four days… no real appetite. I have to eat whenever I take my meds so it's forced for me. Along with two Culturelles a day drinking two Yakults in the am and pm and eating yogurt throughout the day. I'm on Augmentin so you know what's gonna happen by my driving time on Thursday. hoping to avoid having to take Imodium, but I will if that's what it takes. Doc has confirmed I'll be safe to be with Tasha for her surgery day and able to be a caretaker after. He did mention it was a cold until everything changed overnight on Friday. I felt decent M-W and just fatigued Thurs/Fri. Middle of night Friday and Saturday morning the colors changed and the intensity of my headache, coughing and congestion. So we got on antibiotics within 12 hours of the bacterial phase. He recommends a mask if my asthma coughing hasn't subsided, just to give everyone peace of mind (he's familiar with my asthma coughs that sound like I'm typhoid mary but it's just my asthma - no longer ill). I haven't had it in quit a while, which is why my inhaler was expired. Hubby and I both slept/rested on Saturday and yesterday I had enough energy to pack and prepare for my departure on Thursday morning.

I've got a busy week this week. We dropped my van off for full detailing yesterday and when it was done crossed the street to the dealer and left it for a regular maintenance check up. It already has 31k miles - eeek. It will be ready this afternoon. Tomorrow I have a 3 hour tour with my hairdresser (rescheduled twice) and I'll take the cough meds and wear a mask during most of the visit. Again, confirmed with the doc that I won't be contagious. Wednesday I have meetings and online training. I want to be on the road by 8am on Thursday (quick stop at the Disney cast member store if I can get out of here on time - it's an hour out of the way - but my pass expires on Saturday). Friday am daughter has her surgery and then we're onto her recovery after that.

THe weather has been so nice this past weekend. We were able to keep the doors open and the AC off. Starting today back to high 80's/90ish. Yuck. Keeping the doors open until the AC kicks on.. haha. Gotta keep the fresh air coming!

    Have a great week!!
