April; Week5:📉Lost-.4lbs
CW(4/27): 155.2lbs
Pw: 155.6(April-Wk4)April Results: Lost -1.7lbs
~ Finally got my NOTES organized and I have a nice format going where I can compare week-to-week which I’m paraphrasing below.
~ 5 weeks in April (man that’s a lot!) still managed a loss so I am satisfied with myself. Planned an Easter gathering and had a little tiff with my brother. Ah .. gotta love family squabbles over petty little things.
~ Still empty-nesting and that is still my main issue.
~ Got myself back into READING books and I am so happy about that. Had to bust thru my “readers-block”with a page-turning book and it worked! Looking for a new book to keep the momentum going. Perhaps a good book on motivating yourself?? Any suggestions would be nice.Hope everyone is doing well and pushing thru it!

@Krysless2 Atomic Habits by James Clear. Came out in 2018-ish, so a few years old, but I still think one of the best out there!

@Krysless2 - I second @nancyinmiami’s recommendation of Atomic Habits. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg is also good. It’s older and referenced in James Clear’s book. If we build habits, we don’t need as much motivation so I think it’s a better place to put our efforts — still difficult though!

@Krysless2 for motivation I would also add Built to Move: The Ten Essential Habits to Help You Move Freely and live Fully by Kelly Starrett. Some of it is aimed more at people older than yourself, but it's never too early to start. 😊 I haven't read Atomic Habits (yet…) but I did take James Clear's Master Class and it was excellent.

Good morning
I took full advantage of my boys spending the weekend at my mom's and was super productive. I spent most of Saturday cleaning and reorganizing the house (I got in over 11,000 steps just from that!). I got a ton done and am very happy with the current state of the house. I did take a break from it to have dinner at our friend's and ate way too much and had a few beers. Oops.
But I'm Sunday, I finally got my butt back to the gym. I was planning on a 10k on the treadmill but paced it wrong and crashed and burned about 4.5 miles in, missing out on the Garmin 10k badge for this weekend. Another oops. But at least I did something. I also was burned out from being productive and didn't meal plan like I wanted to. It's a new week and I'm planning to stay focused and make some more progress this week. Overall, a good, productive weekend.
And I also agree on Atomic Habits by James Clear. I read a few months back. It was well written and had lots of good, practical advice and guidance.

@Krysless2 and @Zaxa2021 - Congratulations on your breakthroughs with organizing, reading, exercise, etc. — Great work!
Thanks for the Built to Move book recommendation. I’m going to read it! I need to improve my steps and overall movement.
Best wishes for the week ahead, Shape Shifters!1 -
Thanks for that tip on Built to Move. After doing a little Googling, I found that one of the authors, Kelly Starrett, has a YouTube channel called The Ready State. And of the many videos there, there's a list called MobilityWOD Episodes, a series of 199(!) videos that he started 14 years ago.
(WOD is an acronym for Workout of the Day.)It appears that each day's video is quite short (5-6 minutes). I'm going to be checking them out.
Here's the first one:First of Many Beat Downs | Feat. Kelly Starrett | Ep. 1 | MobilityWOD

Monday’s Steps
4/28: 2,478I let my battery run out again so my official step count is really low but I walked up and down the hill carrying our sculling shells to and from the river today. I probably didn’t reach my daily goal of 7,000 but it was great to be outside and I enjoyed a fun row. The egrets and blue heron were flying along the water quite a bit today!

Good morning everyone!
Monday steps: 13,995
I have several meetings today (currently 4) so my step count will suffer. Nothing like sitting in a conference room for an hour at a time to ruin your streak. I'm only 1800 stpes from the April Step Month badge so hoping that I can at least get that. @frankwbrown thanks for the info on the mobility WOD, I need that!!

Today is International Dance Day! How do you plan on moving your body today? I have a Zumba class tonight. When I was teaching, this was one of my favorite Zumba routines. I just love Marc Anthony💜

@PatriceFitnessPal you seem to be stuck in March again 🤣
I hope everyone has a great day! I'm struggling a bit this morning. I'm dreading going into the office but also having a slight panic attack over the amount our income will drop when I retire in a few months. 😳 Hoping it doesn't drive me to the 🍫.
Happy Hump Day 🐪🐫

@DaffyGirl88 — Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m 58 and trying to figure out the timing for full retirement. I think it’s a big mental shift moving from a ‘saving for retirement’ mindset to a ‘gradual spend-down over time’ approach. So, I understand your concern about managing the emotions and changes to your daily routine. You’re so active already that I’m guessing retirement will be a positive experience for you and your family!
It will be nice to live closer to your grandchildren so you can share the 🍫 with them! I hope everything is back on track with the final renovations and your gradual move to the new house. Enjoy!

~ Surprised my weight wasn’t higher than that this morning. Last night I ate foods I typically don’t allow myself. May have helped that I still weighed everything…oh and TOM has officially left the building!!
Thank you all for the book tips! So very helpful!
