Yesterday, I made a good effort to clean. Vaccumed all but 1 room, deep cleaned the bathroom, and cleaned out/up the back porch. The back porch, I'm hoping, will be June's project area. Remove the outdoor carpet, paint/epoxy the concrete pad, and replace the screens. After all that housework, I did 1 lap around the farm to finish off my rings.
Not sure what today will look like. I'll have to see where the winds of life will take me. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€£

@lclark04957 Congratulations on your Anniversary. Celebrating all the wins that you won over the past year. πŸ₯³

@megd44 I also had a couple of headaches this week. I wonder if it had anything to do with the smoke? πŸ€” I hope your stair building went smoothly.

@zichab Your new Garmin looks like it has a lot of the same functionality as my Watch 9. Although it does look like you have a better battery life. I'm usually charging my watch every other day. ⌚️

@Elfirose33 Are you still resting, or have you started to explore this exciting mystery you mentioned?

June goal is to do at least 20 minutes Leslie Sansone (LS) or 10,000 FitBit steps (FB).
    6/1: FB 10,195 (4.38 miles)
    6/2: LS 30 mins (5K)
    6/3: FB: 14,870 (6.4 miles)
    6/4: FB: 13,899 (5.98 miles)
    6/5: FB: 15,057 (6.48 miles)
6/6: LS 20 mins, Coach O legs, LS Abs & Back
    6/7: LS 30 mins (5K)
6/8: LS 20 mins & Fabulous 50s Bat Wings upper body workout

My streak continues. Maine has finally reached high alert for air quality. Reading your posts I knew it was just a matter of time. We’re at the end of the air flow across the US. I’m thankful for YouTube. Everyone is crushing goals! Congrats! πŸ’ͺ

Got in another 3 mile walk today. So happy air is better. Beautiful morning but we may get rain this afternoon. I also completed Walking Stage 2 this morning, which is 91.5 miles recorded walks from April 1 to June 30. I didn't average 12k steps daily this week, but still on track for my mid-year goal. And didn't get 2 days of strength training done. Need to be a bit better focused when wirk and weather get wonky.

@zichab I have the vivomove trend, which I got in January when my old one's display started going. That was a vivomove 3S. These are more "basic" but do enough for me. Sometimes too much. Hope you enjoy the new one!

That sounds like a big and excellent project @Deeder522! Great job closing your rings.

@lclark04957 excellent job on your streak!! I hope that the air quality improves faster for you than it did us!!

Goals For June: Continue 2 days a week, Tone Every Zone and work on getting to 8 lb weights. Do 1 5 Mile walk each week and 3-4 mile walks 5 days a week. Plank, from the floor, for 2 minutes by the end of the month. Try to get in one walk each week on Lake Simond Rd (bugs permitting)! Garmin Challenges: Step Into June Challenge 100,000 steps by June 15 (completed) June Step Challenge 300,000 steps by June 30, June Podium Challenge-Be in the top 3 one week for steps, 20 activities Active June Challenge: Complete the Annapurna Circuit, Himalayas, Nepal and begin the Reinsteig Trail, Rhine River, Germany.

June 1-WAH-Just Walk-4 Fast Miles: Garmin Miles: 6.1

June 2-WAH-iWalk Strong: Plank 10.6 seconds: Garmin Miles: 6.2

June 3-Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-Upper & Lower Body Circuit: Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-20 minute walk: Plank 8.3 seconds πŸ˜₯ Garmin Miles: 6.7

June 4-WAH: Walk Slim-4 Really Big Miles: Plank 10.8 seconds: Garmin Miles: 7.2

June 5-Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-Upper & Lower Body Circuit: Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-20 minute walk: Plank 13.7 seconds: Garmin Miles: 8.3

June 6-Just Walk: Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan-Tuesday 4 miles: Plank 11.03 seconds: Garmin Miles: 7.1

June 7-WAH: 3 Mile Weight Loss Power Walk: Plank: 15.8 seconds: Garmin Miles: 7.2

June 8-Just Walk: 5 Day Walk Plan-Friday-5 Mile Walk: Plank: 16.7 seconds: Garmin Miles:

This plank business is making me nuts! At this rate, it will be December before I get to 2 Minutes! πŸ˜“ But, I finished the Step Into June challenge with 100,000 steps before June 15, so there is that consolation. 😊

@megd44 Oh my gosh yours is so pretty! When I put in my criteria, that one did not even come up and I don't know why. I did not ask for anything very exotic. The only thing that I asked for that may have taken that one off the list was mountaineering features for mountain hiking. I like that it looks more like a watch than a fitness tracker. For my criteria, they brought up Venu3 and Vivoactive 6 and of the 2, I liked this one better. It's odd though that our older ones both had the same issue of disappearing displays. Hmmmm.

@Deeder522 You know you like deep cleaning that new bathroom! 🀣 I'll bet it took a lot less time than the old one! I deep cleaned our screen porch today and it is such a job! Mopping hemlock pollen off screens on both sides is so tedious! I have everything cleaned and set up except the cushions as I was not up to dragging out the power washer after doing the screens! Enjoy fixing your porch up as I know you have wanted to for a long time.

@lclark04957 We had that air yesterday and are still under an air quality alert until tomorrow. The sun has been super red, but we only had smoke here and there. Mostly it was up high I guess. You are doing so good sticking to your workouts! You go!!!!!

Have a good evening all! πŸ˜ƒ

Sorry for my absence, things got really busy around here this weekend, and then my dad still needs a lot of help, too, on top of everything else. Thursday was a rest day, even though it never feels like one, always being an intense work day instead. But it's all good. I did do my daily leg stretches. And my Tai Chi DVDs that I bought arrived, which is so exciting, because now I'll be able to practice all the Tai Chi stuff at home that I do in my class on Wednesdays! And actually begin to learn them all from start to finish instead of just following the instructors all the time.

I've been walking Dottie 1-2 times every day (except Thursdays) and doing all my leg stretches. I got so busy on Friday that I forgot my lunges, but I'll make them all up in due time.

And I wrote this up Friday (below) then must've gotten sidetracked and completely forgot to post it! Thankfully, I saved a draft!

@megd44 Aw, bummer about the missed step goal, but you would've if you could've! Work can be so disappointing sometimes. Sounds like you're still in a good place though in spite of that. So true! (about stretches). I can't believe how tight I am, so this is a great goal for me this month πŸ’œ Take good care with that smoke, I hope that clears soon.

@Deeder522 Good! Yes… Super secret plans are now underway and unfolding soon! 😁 (That's too funny!)

@zichab LOL, I love that! Well, will see! Oh wouldn't that be fun… but no, I've not been invited to an Olympic team for lunges 🀣 However, I can say that my first meeting about this is on Tuesday, and after that I will know more. Until then, I remain hopeful and poised for the unexpected! And I, myself, am among the inquiring minds who want to KNOW 😁 All will be revealed soon 😎

@lclark04957 Thanks! And, cool! 😊 Great job!

Got in a 2 mike walk this morning. And I saw a fox!! So cute and i love being out here in nature, but 30 minutes to wherever I really need to be. Also completed Step into June this morning.

You'll get to the 2 minutes for the plank @zichab probably sooner than you think. I would bet the mountaineering dropped my Garmin out for you. Part of the reason I chose mine was because it does look more like a watch. I had my last one for almost 5 years, so kind of figured that display was due to go.

Glad to hear you are still keeping up with your lunges @Elfirose33. You are doing what you can with your time available, so give yourself lots of grace right now.

@Deeder522 So glad to hear the smoke is lifting for you! Sorry to hear about the headache though, I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like fun going to the food truck with a friend, and getting exercise too! Wow, you've been busy with all the deep cleaning! Great job finishing your rings too! I'm probably still resting πŸ˜… The "exciting mystery" all starts tomorrow! At least I'll know more about it then anyway…

@lclark04957 Well done! Happy One Year Anniversary here! Glad you are learning to celebrate wins! It's so important to cheer ourselves on and see personal progress. Three cheers for you! Great streak! Hang in there with the smoke.

@zichab Cool! How exciting to get a new Garmin! Sounds like you are having fun with it, even with the new learning curve. You'll be an expert soon! Good work with the planks!

@megd44 Hooray for rain chasing all the smoke away! Excellent walk! Sounds like an exciting deck project. I hope you are feeling better. Great walks all around! Good to hear the air quality is better. Oh, a fox, I love foxes! They are special:) Thank you for that advice, very good advice for me πŸ’œ Will work on that.

@Deeder522 and @megd44 Now that I think about it after reading your posts, I also had a headache during the smoke days here. At the time I didn't connect the two because I often get headaches, but now I'm rethinking this.

    June Goals

    Mileage Tacked: 24 / 75
Apple Challenge: Close my exercise ring 17 times. 8 / 17

I was busy the 1st week of June. Yesterday, I rested and didn't worry about my exercise ring. I still got the other 2 rings completed.
Air quality is still moderate, but it smells a bit smoky today. I did my walk this morning. 1.35 miles with a bonus 9 minute step workout as well. I'm looking a few different things this week. Some work items, Ryan's PT visit and a trip down to Kalamazoo to see my BFF. She's in for a national dog show this week and I think

I'll be able to go to and see her in the ring.

Also, MFP is still having issues. For me, it's when my Grammarly app wants to make corrections. UGH!

@Elfirose33 Can't wait to hear the Super Secret Details.

@zichab Remember you're already way ahead of me on planks.

@lclark04957 Remind me, which part of Maine are you in?

@megd44 A fox! I love foxes. I have pictures as my desktop for my computer. We have foxes in the area, along with a couple of Bobcats and coyotes. I see mostly Deer, though.

June 9-Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-Upper & Lower Body Circuit: Just Walk: Tone Every Zone-20 minute walk: Plank 2.7 seconds: Garmin Miles:

Yes 2.7 seconds is correct! 😑 I knew last night that I used my lower abs in the 16.7 seconds yesterday because they were stiff when I went to bed, probably from lactic acid. Today, they were like, "um no … just no!" and gave out on me. So I may need to rest my abs (Like who ever says that!!! πŸ˜‚) for a day or two. I'll try tomorrow, but I like that they are working! I am not risking injury however as I am heading for Las Vegas on Thursday!

@Deeder522 I can now comment on the battery life of my Vivoactive6. I have been using it non-stop for 4 days and it still has 6 days of power left and one walk used GPS. Considering all it does, I cannot complain about the battery life. I am not sure I am still ahead of you on Planks though! I kind of crashed today! 🀣 It is fun though.

@megd44 This watch does more than I need as well, but since I was getting a new one I wanted it to track walking, hiking and mountain climbing differently. My son always gets this nice maps with elevation changes on Garmin Connect when he climbs and even though I was right next to him, my Vivofit only tracked the steps and miles. This one also has Indoor walking, which was a surprise, ,but has been great for tracking Leslie walks! We'll see how it goes as time goes on. It's only 4 days old! 🀣

@lclark04957 22K steps??? πŸ€ͺ oh my gosh that is amazing!! The most steps I have ever done in one day was 23,529 in March of 2015!!!!! You are a rock star of steps!!! When you go after your health numbers you do not kid around!!!! 🀣 Great Job!!!!

@Elfirose33 I was wondering if taking care of your Dad was keeping you busy. I hope all is OK with him. Give yourself grace when you forget things. I get a ton of steps in a day simply going back for things I forget or forget to do! I will come downstairs to get the laundry out of the dryer, notice the stove and think, "I probably should put wood in that." then remember that Dennis wanted me to bring up oranges from our spare fridge and head back upstairs … without the laundry!!!! Forgetting the lunges means your mind was on more important things. Like you say, you can catch them up. πŸ˜‰

    Tomorrow is another day! πŸ˜ƒ

Today: I mowed for 40 minutes, did 30 lunges (each leg) and the leg stretches. I did not go to Boot Camp today because I was way too tired. This afternoon I took a 50 minute nap. It sure is fun to log a nap into my exercise day 😁 Tonight I played the 1st Trumpet part to fill in for the one who usually plays it but who couldn't be there tonight, so I definitely need to log this as a workout!

@zichab 2.7 seconds is informative. I think you'll benefit from a rest break for sure. Good work on the planks, you are working hard. During my own plank challenge recently, I absolutely took breaks (that is, whole days off away from planks). My dad is better, but still weak. He gets out of breath easily just getting from here to there in his house. Thank you, and you are completely right about my mind being on more important things :) Will do, and I definitely need to get better at giving myself grace πŸ’œ

@Deeder522 how exciting to see your friend! And great job with your rings and focus.

@lclark04957 I am super impressed with that step count and mowing hills!! Such a total body workout

@zichab I think a rest day sounds good. Listening to your body is the best thing you can do, especially before Vegas!

@Elfirose33 great job with the lunges!! And your mowing too.

Did another 3 mile walk outside this morning. I told Rich i get to this one hill where I can see M22 (infamous highway here and beautiful) and feel like I just NEED to get to that point. He asked if I feel like I get as good as workout as I was with the WAH series, what he calls my jumping jacks. 🀣 My Garmin says just about and my glutes are screaming at me about the hills. Plus I just love being outside while I can!

This morning, I tried to keep it simple: a 10-Minute Walk with Improved Health and then a 5-minute Shoulder challenge from Fit by Mik. This 5-minute challenge used no weights, but I could feel the burn while I was doing it. I've added it to my Arm workout list to find again later.
I will keep today pretty light. I was constantly moving yesterday, and all my rings show that. πŸ˜†

I know we all talk about our exercise and movements, but we rarely bring up the other important part of fitness…the kitchen. What tactics are you taking advantage of when it comes to food?

Wow! Lunges and planks!! I can’t remember the last time I attempted either of those. You’ve motivated me. I’m going to give both a try this week. I think that’s why I join challenges. I do better. It pushes me to do things I wouldn’t normally try.

June 10-WAH: 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk: Plank 0 seconds: Garmin Miles:

I did the 5 mile walk to day since I will not be here on Sunday to do it and it is one of my goals for June, so 5 mile walk DONE for this week! πŸ‘οΈ The plank however was a no go today and I think @Elfirose33 and @megd44 that you two are right, I need to take a day or two break in between each one. They are strength moves and you are not supposed to do strength workouts back to back. So, I am taking today off and will try again tomorrow.

@megd44 You have observed exactly what I have always noticed as well! Working out with Leslie does a great job building cardio endurance, but I need to walk the hills around here to be ready to climb a mountain because muscles work in different directions when you go up and down hill verses a flat surface. Garmin has no way to calibrate thigh burn, only heart and respiration and on that score, there is not a lot different between the two activities. However, our legs would certainly beg to differ! πŸ˜‰

@Elfirose33 I feel so bad for your Dad. It is hard to have respiratory issues. My mother had COPD and emphysema and she would get out of breath doing very simple things as well. I am sure worry about him is adding to your fatigue, so keep on napping! 😴

@lclark04957 22K steps and now lunges and planks!!! We are creating an athlete here!!! πŸ˜‚

@Deeder522 Oh what a good idea!!! I just assume everyone is logging on MFP, but there are strategies and tactics to that we can share. I am not sure if all of you know her, but I use a lot of recipes and meal ideas from Skinnytaste.com. Gina Homolk is a wiz at cutting calories without cutting flavor. She has recipes for every dietary need and although she misses sometimes (like just no on her chocolate chip cookies) most of the time her stuff is so gooood!!!! I think she started, or maybe is still, somehow connected to weight watchers because she uses their point system, but a lot of her stuff imports into MFP as well. When I am struggling over meals, she is my go to!

I'll be doing my Tone Every Zone workout tomorrow so I get two in this week before we leave for Albany. I may not post until late tomorrow. Until then-walk on!!! πŸ˜ƒ

Wow!! So super impressed with everything you are all doing @zichab, @Elfirose33, @Deeder522 and @lclark04957!! Lunges, planks, strength training, walks, steps. Everyone is really dedicated despite all the other difficulties life is throwing out there. Great job ladies!

Today I did a WAH band session and then 1.5 mile walk.

Great question @Deeder522 with food. I also track here. My biggest trick, so to speak, is a digital food scale. This was a game changer for me and I weigh everything now. I also try to eat local and seasonal as much as possible, which helps eliminate a lot processed food. But I have no problem getting fruits and vegetables all year and what I want in our iff season. Like, bananas and pineapples are almost always in my house and you can't grow those here! And no foods are off limit for me.

Yesterday I walked Dottie 30 minutes and did my leg stretches.

Now for the Reveal (Part 1): Yesterday I learned that I will be doing a total of 6 personal training sessions (30 minutes each) for the next 3 weeks, for 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. The first two personal training sessions or so will be an assessment to see what I can and can't do, then after that the remaining sessions will help me get ready for the next layer that will unfold. My first personal training session will begin this coming Friday. I've never gotten personal training before as I've always worked out in a group, so it will be interesting to see how this goes!

@megd44 Thank you:) Way to go climbing those hills! Sounds like a great reward seeing M22! Thanks for the accolades to us all! And you, as well, are in there too! Great food tip!

@Deeder522 Good workout! Thanks for starting a food/kitchen conversation!

Food and the kitchen are two of my favorite things to think about, read about, and talk about! 😊 A tactic that I'm taking advantage of with food is: The Small Plate Meal. 3 small meals a day (or more, but I never need any more) with 2 snacks as needed. This works so well for me! I think this is because it's too easy for me to not know the proper portions. Whatever fits on the small plate is the meal. Not heaped on or piled high either. This tactic works when eating out too. I just think of my small plate and order whatever I think would fit πŸ˜… In this way, I've been able to lose some weight. Finding cute little plates are a special reward and only add to the fun! πŸ’›

    @lclark04957 Cool! I'm so glad you're here! 😊

@zichab Hooray for your 5 mile walk getting done! Yes, glad you're going to rest from the plank, that will be so good. Thank you:) I'm sorry your mother went through this. You're completely right, and that sounds wonderful, I'll keep napping because it's really helping! 😴 Thanks for the food tip link, going to look that up!

We have an air quality alert for today. I took a fast 1 mile walk at the park this morning and did some quick errands so I don't have to do much later outside.

The last time I really lost a good deal of weight was 16 years ago for our wedding. I remember it being a calorie restricted diet, but I don't remember the exact restrictions. I also don't think it would be the best for me anymore. My cousin does carb cycling, which she has been very successful with, losing over 100 lbs. I'm currently trying to cut up pop ( aka soda for you non Michigan people). I was able to give up diet pop a long time ago. Now I'm working on scaling back regular pop. Currently, I've switched to real sugar pop and am slowly decreasing those as well. I haven't been tracking food here, but I'm trying to use Cronometer instead as I like the interface better. I can scan food items in that app like I was able to do here a few years back.

@megd44 I love my digital scale. It's been so handy to have. I'll use it often to weigh dairy items as I have to watch my intake on that.

@zichab I'm very familiar with SkinnyTaste. Her Salisbury Steak has been a great meal for my family for years now.

@Elfirose33 How exciting!! I can't wait to see how the next sessions with a personal trainer will go! Good for you!

Before you all think I am a walking fool, those 10 miles resulted from deep cleaning my whole house yesterday so it will not be taken over by mice and ants while we are away. I rarely do both floors on the same day, but i wanted to be sure they were both critter cleaned before leaving for Albany today. You too can get 10 miles fighting critters! πŸ˜‚

Oh my gosh, I have used my food scale since 2012 (I'm on #3) and did not even think of it as a tactic! 😲 Isn't it amazing how we forget things once they are a habit?

@Deeder522 what a great idea!!! I have some beautiful small plates that were my mother's that I rarely use because of the size and they would be perfect for small plate meals. I am going to try that idea when we get back. Gina has been my lifeline for years. I have no idea how I would have lost all the weight I had to lose without her.

Congratulations @Elfirose33 ! I knew it!!! You are training for the Olympics!!! 🀣 How exciting to have a personal trainer to work with. Be sure to share any general information with us OK? Enjoy!

@megd44 I think I may add more of Leslie's band workouts to my rotation in July. I get stuck on weights sometimes because they are measurable (i.e. 5 lbs, 8 lbs etc) and forget how good her band work is. I used them for strength long before I owned a single weight. You have been doing as well as the rest of us. You are actually walking hills, which I have yet to do! I need a windy day-no bugs or smoke! πŸ˜‰

Heading to Albany! See you all in Las Vegas! πŸŽ“οΈX2 πŸ—žοΈX2 (one grandchild graduated from HS and one from college. The beauty of children 4 years apart in America! 😎)

Today I did Tai Chi for 65 minutes, walked Dottie 30 minutes, did 60 stationary lunges (not all at once) each leg. And now I'm all caught up on the lunges from the day I missed! And I did my leg stretches.

@Deeder522 We also say "pop" in MO. It's a Midwestern thing, I guess. Anyway, good job reducing pop! Thanks! Me too, will keep you posted!

@zichab Wow, 10 miles from deep cleaning is amazing! I think no critter will come in while you're away! So glad to hear you like the small plate idea! It has always worked for me without fail 😊 Thanks, and good try! However, I'm not quite training for the Olympics, haha (that's such a hoot)! 🀣 Working with a personal trainer will be interesting, and yes, happy to share general info! πŸ˜‰

    @lclark04957 Excellent steps and miles!

Another smokey day here, so did WAH easy burn. Will try to get a short outside lap at lunch since I have to be in my office again today.

@zichab house cleaning can give the best numbers. Enjoy your trip!

@Elfirose33 that is super exciting!! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

@Deeder522 giving up pop/soda is a great tactic.

@lclark04957 great job with the steps!

My in-laws are coming today for the weekend. Will be fun but not sure how my eating will be! Another of my tactics-Enjoy life and celebrate special times. Can get back to it Monday. Thankfully they sleep in so I should be able to walk before they are up.

It looked a little hazy this morning, so I stayed inside and did a mile of YouTube.
Tomorrow I have running around 1st thing in the morning and then a drive down to Kzoo for some time with my BFF and a bunch of dogs.

@zichab Safe travels for you & Dennis!

@megd44 Enjoy your visitors this weekend.

@Elfirose33 I'm glad to read you're caught up with your lunges and that Dottie still gets her walkies too.

@lclark04957 You're on a streak! Keep it up!!

Weigh in went very well. My eating has been pretty good, but all this exercise has kicked things up. Only 1.5 pounds remain to reach first goal. πŸ’ͺ

Thursday was a rest day. Yesterday I got my first personal training session, and wow, he expertly packed an awesome little workout circuit and assessment into 30 minutes! I'm so impressed. Yesterday was Lunge Day for me, but I didn't want to do my 30 lunges before my session and I couldn't do them after πŸ˜… The good thing, though, is that he had me doing walking lunges, 10 at a time per interval, and while this didn't end up being 30 each leg, he challenged me to try doing the lunges in a way I'd never done before: with the lowering knee "kissing" the floor each lungeβ€”and I somehow managed to achieve that each time. But, oh man! I'm really sore today because of that! I also did several intervals of stationary bicycle (wow, this was just sooo hard, I couldn't believe it!) also timed plank holds, a timed plank hold with slow shoulder taps, squats, then squats with bands. I was jello when I left πŸ˜… Then, that night I played a 4-hour gig on trumpet with my band, which also involved a lot of walking and carrying gear before and after. When I finally got home late last night I fell into bed exhausted 😴

Today I'm planning to recover πŸ’œ I'm going to read books, watch Columbo, take a nap, sit on the couch and stare out the window at the clouds πŸ˜‚, walk with Dottie, do leg stretches, take a load off, and maybe cook something!

Today I walked Dottie 30 minutes and I worked in the garden 30 minutes pulling weeds and watering. Tonight I'll do some stretches.

Got my Leslie in early and spent the rest of the morning digging out 4 huge rocks and hauling dirt up and down a hill. I love manual labor. It’s my nature gym, and I work all kinds of muscles. Feels good!
