Good morning everyone! Pretty good food day yesterday. Logged it all. Lots of grandkids time. No real exercise given the oppressive heat. But it’s better today and I started the morning with some sun salutations and stretching. I will walk later.

@jguldi11 Memphis is a fun town! And the Peabody?! Did you see the ducks 🦆 march in or out? We had an encounter with a President and his wife years ago in Memphis. We were actually trying to avoid them and ended up running into them anyway. It was not a President we cared for much and my kids were “mad” at me when I returned a wave to his wife L. 😂 We also enjoyed Sun City Records. So if you ever go back, it’s worth the trip to this recording studio/museum to learn about those titans that recorded there.

@gidgitgoescrzy So glad to hear your kitchen is coming together and you are back to cooking your meals there. That must be a relief.

Need to get moving before the day gets away from me. Salmon is on sale for $6.99 off to go get some for dinner.

    Have a great day. 😀

    Happy (my) weigh-day, WaistAways! 🙋‍♀️🎐

    jguldi11June 19

I'm curious, what do you all do when you're having persistent cravings?

^^^^ I try to remember that most craving will disappear in 20 minutes, whether satisfied or not. ofc, this doesn't always work ;-). For example, yesterday afternoon I got a pizza craving. Did not yield to it … but by 9pm hubby and I were ordering a late night 'cravings' deal from Papa Johns 🙃😬🤷‍♀️ $9 after 9 …. had 2 slices. d'oh!

It was my daughter's birthday this week - I had some time off from work to make it special for her and doing a party at the bowling lane tonight. Will be challenging my husband in a few games to keep us active. Besides that, it will be a quiet weekend of walking the dog, summer break starts next week with school and will be an adjustment to that. Got a few good workouts in this week and no snacking in the evenings - that's a win for me.

    ^^^ so fun!!! :D :D :D

Way to go on 1st place this week team! woo!!…

… I celebrated the FIRST SUNNY SATURDAY in ages like @mkksemail said, by sitting in the courtyard and tanning for like 2.5 hours haha. I got some more time out there today too - I really need to work on my base tan since my kayaking stint on Thursday led to some nasty tan lines (classic me, really).

Did some major cleaning around my apartment today - I should probably count some of those minutes as a workout honestly. It is so sparkly in here now, and I have guests coming on Friday so I should only have to vacuum again quickly before then.

Attempting a new breakfast biscuit recipe later tonight. I am absolutely not prepared for highs of 101 degrees F on Tuesday!!! Yikes.

^^^ haha, Kali - NO JOKE on the rainless Saturday last week! (It's going to rain again this weekend tho :p). And hooollliiiicrap! on Tuesday! It went up to 97F here (heat index 107F), wth!? I'm not going to complain about 60s and raining (again) this Saturday ;-). oooooo, yyummm new bfast recipe! WTG on sparkly apt !!

Thank you so much for the encouragement and support, team, it really has meant a lot to me. I'm so up and down these days, and this really has been a comforting place to hide out, for all that I don't interact a huge amount.

I had a lovely weekend, it was 2 of my closest friends' 40ths and also solstice, so we went to a huge bonfire night at a brewery and had a great night. It was also hard though, because happy times are just tinged with sadness, too. I ate more than I should have, and didn't track, but I'm just concentrating on making good choices the majority of the time and this week I don't have too many social events. I plan to hit the gym or go for a run at lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and just keep getting my steps in otherwise. I have also booked a yoga class for tonight, I miss the stretch and the relaxation and mindlfulness.

    ^^^ 🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎🤍❣💥 ahhh, what a great post, Al !

I meant to weigh in on Thursday and post before I left for the weekend, but alas, that - like many other things I meant to accomplish Thursday - did not happen. I spent the last weekend in Moab, Utah with a big group called Sisters on the Fly. We did a dinner cruise on Thursday, Friday I went hiking around Canyonlands with my sister, and Saturday we rafted the Colorado River. It was a lot of movement and surprisingly felt okay on my knee. However, it was HOT and very windy. Dry heat. Not like the heat the rest of you are getting. …

WOW! Those pix are just gorgeous !!! And ahhhh, the work travel sounds so great! Can't wait to hear how the work meeting goes later this summer :)

… Busy day today. Worked this morning and then went with hubby to an appointment at Duke which is an hour away. Going for what feels like our 10th opinion. …

^^^ ❗🙏🤲📿💐🤞 Hope the appt went well, Lauren! Xx

    Kali225une 24

@mkksemail ugh so sorry to hear about your knee troubles. hopefully the shots help?? You've given me a good reminder to do my PT movements now before I hop in the shower…

… Oppressively hot today. I wore a new favorite dress of mine to work at least. And I got my steps in via dance cardio. I had a ton of protein today but I feel like it was also a lot of food. Feel like I need to start balancing protein vs calories or volume - or I will probably just stay at this weight which is not what I want.

^^^ 1.) - yes, hope so! The shots take up to 8 weeks to reach peak effectiveness, and I only had the 1st of 3 on Monday, so …. here's to hoping! :D yup yup yup, do those PTEs, girl! Future you says thanks :D

2.) … . and, that's so interesting on your protein focus and calorie budget balancing! In the same boat, but with freggies focus. I did a great job improving metabolic panels from Nov '24 to May '25, but I did so by stopping my calories focus.

    • I basically lost most of my 15 lbs down in the first 6 mos, from May '24 to Nov '24, when I was def focusing on calories balance, and sort of focusing on freggie intake.
    • And I basically got most of my metabolic panels improvements when I was definitely focusing on freggie intake, and sort of focusing on calories balance. :p
    • I just said to my doc at my May '25 appt (wait, was it April? 🤔) that now I need to try to marry freggie focus WITH calorie balance!

    MaddawgMadsenJune 25

NSV - I actually made it to spin class today! First time in months. Literally months. I was advised by my doctor and my PT that spin class would be good for my knee as long as I take it easy (minimal resistance, no climbing, etc.). I just haven't been able to get my tired butt out of bed lately. Today will be a two pots of coffee kind of day, but it's so worth it.Oh! And, my sister had such a great time with Sisters on the Fly (SOTF) that she joined the group, made sure we both signed up for the Bryce Canyon event happening in September, and then found us a pop-up trailer to buy. So, as of 18:00 yesterday, I am the proud co-owner of a 2012 Rockwood Forest River 1950 pop-up trailer. As a note if I didn't mention it before, SOTF is the group we joined for the rafting trip.

^^^ What a fun post !! So cool on the pop-up, and your sis joining in with you. And yup, my sports med doc, ortho surgeon, and PT (both of them, back in 2020, and now) said the same thing - spinning is good for the knees.

@MaddawgMadsen What amazing beauty! Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing. Seeing the petroglyphs is super cool.
And I also don’t even recognize myself in photos. It looks like my mom more and more. She was a beautiful person but pretty obese and died young. (69) Can’t let that happen to me.

@mkksemail I’m so impressed with all your “wandering” even with bad knees. You are proof that my sore hip should not stop me from walking. I am supposed to go to PT for help.

@lauren_989 It’s been so crazy hot here too. I keep using any excuse I can not to exercise.

This week we found out my husband’s A1c is now 6.6 and over the threshold for diabetes. So we are busy trying to figure that all out. I think I will also benefit from our improved eating and exercise attempt. We shall see.

^^^ Ahhhh, ty Michelle/micki ! Def go to PT, it is helpful. And it might seem counter-intuitive, but walking reduces arthritic pain. The more you walk, the looser the joint, and the stronger the muscles around it. It's just all balm for the damaged joint. I took up my walking habit after my first course of PT for my right knee. And joined PF (Planet Fitness), for the bike, bc he said the bike was good for the knee. I kinda fell away from PF bc of covid when all the gyms were danger zones. Actually, I started my 10k/day 18+ mos stepping streak in Dec '21, it was only this Feb when starting new PT course that I returned to PF for the bike.

I also took advantage of their included personal trainer services. When I first joined, they were without a personal trainer, I wanted to take the New Member intro meeting, but it wasn't available. They did have a trainer on staff this winter tho, so I signed up for a 1-on-1 new member intro session, even tho it was 5 yrs since I'd joined :p. He went over my health/physical challenges, and goals, started to talk about bikes and ellipticals bc of knees, but I said, no, I'd like to learn how to use the weights machines, pls :). I told him I was already using the bike, and knew how to work it, but didn't know how to use any of the machines. He said sure, he'd draw me up a weights circuit exercise plan for the lower body, and show me how to use the included machines, etc. The intro session was just a 30-min booking, but no one was booked in for the next time slot, so after our sit-down getting to know you, he took me upstairs to the weights area and showed me how to do the exercises and use the machines for the lower body circuit he had in mind. He knew I was doing the bikes after, so he told me he'd write up the plan, along with all the settings for the machine, plus weights and reps, etc, and have it ready for me in a couple hours.

Nick recommended doing an upper body/core workout, too. I booked another session for a few days later. This session was for up to 3 people, rather than 1-on-1, another person was in the class. There was an older man booked in for the session, too. He was retired, in his later 70s, I think. Nick showed us both how to use the machines in the plan he'd put together for us (our plans were similarly focused).

He was so great. I was just thinking I'd like to book another session and learn some more machines, but there's a new trainer! booo. lol Hopefully he'll be just as patient, sweet, and helpful.

Hi everyone, I'm back from Tennessee! It was a fun experience, we stayed in The Peabody which is kind of like a museum in itself! We also went to Graceland and learned all about Elvis, and we walked around town a bit too. While my husband was at his work meeting I rested and read a good book. It was glorious to have a few hours of alone time!

For being on vacation I think I did okay making decent food choices, though we had to try some fried catfish and bread pudding, oh my goodness was it delicious! I made sure to keep those portions small haha. I do feel a bit bloated from it all so I'll be drinking lots of water and watching my sodium for the next few days. I did my best to log everything, it keeps me accountable even when I don't want to haha.

Unfortunately I have a double ear infection which is rather uncomfortable, thankfully the antibiotic ear drops are stsrting to kick in.

^^^ ohhhh, sounds SO fun, Jackie/jguldi11 !! boo on the ear infections tho, fingers crossed those heal soon. Xx

ahhhh, just saw the pix on the next page!! SO great! You and hubby look fantastic, btw! haha, just read your note about running into a President and his wife in Memphis. Made me laugh so much! 😂🤣🙋‍♀️

    Okay, mk out! :p :)

jguldi11 and Alatariel75 Hope you both are feeling better soon. Love the pics jguldi11 sounds like a fantastic get away.

mkksemail your step count is amazing this week - keep it up.

I think I'm professionally depressed - if that's a term. I'm not motivated at work and feel like the work I do is not satisfying. Doesn't help that right now I have poor management who is in a micromanagement way of working. I'm trying to not let it impact me but I can see it is because I am becoming less confident in my position and feel less secure. Trying to work out these feelings and the job market is so tough right now.

looking forward to the weekend and getting some activity in.

@cleaneater80 I hate micromanagers! I hope things work out for you.

@jguldi11 great pictures! I hope your ears feel better soon!

@Alatariel75 glad the pup is a good snuggler since you're not feeling well.

Whew! I'm exhausted and ready for the weekend. This has been a long week at work, my car started rattling and it smells awful inside from who know's what, and I only slept 4 hours last night because thunderstorms woke me up and then I couldn't fall back asleep for 3 hours. Good thing is, I ate decent overall today! All the above tends to make me stress eat, but I held it together!

@jguldi11 - To work on my deadlift form, I took advantage of a free day at our CrossFit gym and worked one-on-one on them with a coach. Then, every time we have them in our normal workout, I make sure whoever is coaching knows that I'm still not confident in my form and have them watch.

Found a treasure of a garden nearby to walk in today. I also did a 10 minute Pilates routine. It’s something.

@micki48 that is a beautiful garden! I would love to have something like that to walk in. Thank you for sharing.

@lauren_989 oh no car troubles are so stressful! Kudos to you for not stress eating though!

I went wayyyy over my calorie goal for the day 🤦‍♀️ I attended a babyshower and was given some sweets to take home. While I was pretty careful at the shower, afterward I had far too many sweets. I did walk quite a bit today so hopefully that helps some.

I'm afraid to see what my weigh in will be on Monday, but even if it's not in the green I can't let 1 off week bring me down.

Oh I also messed up my logging streak 😢 I meant to log in earlier but kept getting busy doing other things. Logged in at 12:05am and that was too late unfortunately. Boooooo.
