@TeresaW2024 - Love the puzzle! Still praying for you!

@micaroo4 - thanks for sharing your thoughts. Mine are similar- I don't think I can plan out my retirement, will have to figure it out when I get there. And my concerns are similar to yours. My husband has semi retired and the plan is that I will be too in the next couple years. It is something I need to give more thought to. My money is on you for finding a sense of purpose in any situation. ❤️

@19shmoo69 - Yes Darren! It was worth it! Onto day 3?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

    Good morning Slimpossibles!

Last night I decided to try jicama in the air fryer as a french fries substitute for Rich. It was a success, but it's a pain in the butt to prepare. I cut up the jicama like french fries, and then boiled it for 10 minutes. Then I drained and dried it with a paper towel, tossed it in olive oil, and seasoned it with garlic powder and dried rosemary. My air fryer is oven-style (shelves, not basket) so I spread the fries on the 3 wire shelves and roasted them at 400 for 25 minutes. And then sprinkled them with parmesan cheese. He gobbled them up! They are very fibrous, and to me they are not at all like french fries, but he was happy. We checked his blood sugar 30 minutes later, and his glucose didn't go up at all.

@trooworld - Rich loved the jicama fries, so yes, I'll likely make them again.

@baodell17724 - Like you, I think that emotional eating is one of the main issues why many of us overeat. Fixing emotional eating requires a mindset shift. But doctors prefer to be able to prescribe something, rather than rely on the patient making lifestyle changes. I think the benefit of the GLP-1 drugs is the appetite surpression. Turning down the "food noise" in the brain gives the patient time to map out a long term plan for success. Because after all, no one is going to want to be on a drug for the rest of their life!

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What’s your go-to healthy meal or snack when you’re short on time? Probably a handful of nuts. If I'm really really short on time, nuts are a great solution. Fiber, healthy fats, protein; nuts have it all. They are easy to pack, don't require utensils, non-spill, no crumbs, require no refrigeration, and just about every gas station or convenience store will have single-serving nut packs on the shelf.

@micaroo4 I am so sorry I'm 2 days late. Focused on Oliver on Sunday (he had another seizure) and then travelling yesterday.

My name is Jennifer and I’m a single 51 year old living in beautiful Southwest Michigan, right on the Lake. I have an American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I have a 30 year old son, 2 daughters in their 20s and 5 grandchildren (the oldest turned 2 in April). I go by Grammy since I consider them to be my Grammy Awards 😊

I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm a Christian and also love horror movies. I’m a tea freak (I am a tea reviewer) and love love love fun indie nail polishes. I have worked in Community Development at my County for over 20 years. Tea is life.

I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but mostly up. I have just over 60 pounds to lose (goal is 155). I am, by nature, a Negative Nancy, but I am trying to stay focused and positive. I see my therapist biweekly and he’s been a tremendous help with understanding that my ADHD causes me to be a dopamine chaser…both with food and acquiring things. We are now working on tools to address it. I started taking a low dose ADHD stimulant Rx just under 2 weeks ago, so still adjusting to that. I think I might need a higher dose, but we’ll see what the doctor says in a couple more weeks.

    2025 is MY year!

@laurelfit57 – I love listening to audio books by David Baldacci. He has several stand alone and book series. They are suspense, legal thrillers and you get to really learn about the main characters as they go along. The Amos Decker and Atlee Pine series are my two favorites. I used to rent the audiobooks from the library and listen to them when travelling to see Marcus when he was stationed far away. It’s been a few years. I need to revisit them…especially the Amos Decker series. Really enjoyed those.

@trooworld – Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry about the overeating, but glad you got that amazing mani/pedi!

    @Katmary71 – Happy Happy Birthday!

    @19shmoo69 – I much prefer Jesus and Tea…pray on it. (I’m teasing)

@TeresaW2024 – You are still in my prayers. What a beautiful, thoughtful gift! That was so sweet of your friend.

    @bobboyardee – Awesome streak!

The past few days have been too busy. We (my mother and I) decided to try out a new church on Sunday. I’m tired of driving an hour each way (because of picking up my mother) the past 4 years. I rarely got to participate in ladies’ events because of my work schedule and the drive. And in all honesty, there are a couple other reasons. The pastor only does surface-level preaching and is always watching the clock. Also, I’m fed up with the pastor’s wife (my daughter-in-law’s twin sister). She’s an ordained pastor. So why is she sending my DIL pictures of eligible men at church to her and trying to get her to leave my son instead of encouraging them with marriage counseling? Behind the scenes, she (and the rest of DIL’s family) are horrible to Marcus. So many instances of the most un-Christian behavior. Leaves me dumbfounded. I would never dream of treating DIL that way. Thank you for letting me vent. Anyway, the new church we visited seems like a good fit – theologically, location and their welcoming spirit. Plus, I knew a couple people there, so that was nice to have friendly faces to sit with.

Yesterday was my mother’s annual fall color tour drive she likes me to take her on. Problem is, the leaves haven’t changed yet. She didn’t want to postpone it, tho. I think she just wanted to go for a drive regardless. We went to a town a couple hours away for a yummy lunch and drink. Stopped at a used book store and a tea shop. Hunter and I painted rocks on Friday, so I took some with me and left them at each place. It was an enjoyable day.

This evening I will finally have some “me time” and I will relax with crafting cards. If you want me to send you a Halloween card, let me know. If I don’t already have your address, you’ll just have to send me a friend request. After confirming the request, then we can send a PM so you can give me your address.

    Have a Terrific Tuesday!

@trooworld you are correct in my world everyday is a day to celebrate coffee. I start each day of celebration with a pot of coffee ( first cup is butter coffee).

@Cornanda hmmmmm? You may not be ready for day three. You asked for it and I did say multiple interests. So here it is, I hope it’s doesn’t trigger a weakness in those who read it.

    Interest #3 Java Juice

Should I share a fourth interest?

@vegan4lyfe2012 Jesus and tea?? Hmmmm, if I were to have Jesus with tea, I would have develop a southern accent. Then I’d have to start saying Bless Your Heart, winder ( window), mater (tomato) and tater (potato). Ah, man, I just described my wife. I guess Jesus and tea ain’t (isn’t) too bad.

Here is my copy and pasted introduction:

    INTRODUCTION:

My name is Drew, I’m 43 years old and a musician.  I live in SE Wisconsin with my husband Frank and our rescue Labrador Retriever, Hunter!  I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, trumpet, electronic devices, and sing and rap.  I do music where I record all of the instruments one at a time and then layer them so it sounds like a band.  I’ve released 7 albums, including soundtracks for an independent horror film and a video game documentary.

I’m a Sri Lankan-American, born in the United States, and I have quite a bit of childhood trauma surrounding food.  I gained weight during the pandemic, but felt like it was more than just overeating.  Some false starts with coaches and nutritionists helped me understand that I have disordered eating, specifically late night binge eating, and most probably have ADHD.  I started attending Overeaters Anonymous meetings online and found a great community there.  I signed up for Mission Slimpossibles because I wanted to have accountability with late night eating (and because the name was hilarious).

I actually really resented being a member of this group, nothing to do with the group, but I just didn’t want to have to weigh in and you know, actually be accountable.  I also had a weird feeling about someone finding this out and then connecting it to my music work (despite the fact that I’ll talk about binge eating to anyone who asks).

I’ve been a resentful vegetarian for 22 years.  I feel like I need to do it for environmental & personal ethical reasons, but there is nothing to eat in my neck of the woods.  I feel like I eat veggie burgers and cheese pizza and rice pilaf and Taco Bell and that’s it.  I hate cooking and I just get mad all the time.  So then I binge to get “revenge” on my dissatisfaction.

I’m formerly suicidal and while I am really proud of continuing to choose to live for myself, I think a lot of my shame/resentment/self loathing comes out in my eating.  This is also probably why it has taken me 10 months to introduce myself???  I’ve done a lot of work in therapy on my depression and trauma as a gay person of color and it’s been nothing short of miraculous.

I've been keeping busy working on the yard in the mornings. Right now, I'm trimming the Jasmine, just need to clean up the trimming's now. I can't' believe that tomorrow is October. I should try to lose a couple of pounds before the holiday's so I can get some goodies and not stress over gaining weight. I can choose to do yard work or ride my trike, but I can't do both on the same day. I bought my husband a new computer that I need to set up.

@micaroo4 - I toss a chopped head of cauliflower and a potato or 2 in some oil, seasoning and Parmesan and roast it. I'm not going to say it tastes like french fries, but it is a yummy side that seems blood sugar friendly if you leave out the potatoes

@trooworld - UGH! to professional development day!

@Katmary71 - Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoyed your day!

@baodell17724 - you find the most interesting stuff!

@vegan4lyfe2012 - Wow, that is bad about your DIL. I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds like a nice weekend, even though the leaves haven't turned yet.

    @19shmoo69 - BRING ON DAY 4, I CAN TAKE IT! 😂

@DrewsAnna - Hit those goals today girl, you can do it!

@bobboyardee - Wow! 2 months of intros in a row! Yay! (and now I can't unsee you as a streaking Bart Simpson- hilarious!)

@FushiaKat - sounds like things are going well there- that's great

Nothing much going on here. It's either been hot or rainy when I want to walk on my lunch break this week. That's bonus exercise, so it's not a huge deal, but every bit counts!

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What’s your go-to healthy meal or snack when you’re short on time?

Usually a small 5 oz. can of tuna in water or salmon chunks in water, as both are low in calories. (I buy both in bulk now!🙂)

@Katmary71 Happy birthday, my sweet friend! I hope you had a great day! 🎉❤️

@vegan4lyfe2012 Sometimes it’s necessary to leave a church for a better fit and deeper spiritual growth. An hour's drive each way is crazy! What a nice little day trip you had with your mom. Will you do something when the leaves actually do change? 🙂

@trooworld Free food has always been hard for me, too. We will always have to strive hard to resist these temptations, but you can do it! Have you heard of the three bite rule? Take a bite to see if you like it, have another bite to enjoy, and one last bite to say goodbye. Give that a try the next time you pick up free food. Just don’t shove that entire thing in your mouth on the third bite. That’s cheating!! 😂

Good morning! Well, the scale was down, but it’s still up about three pounds from where I was before Joe’s death. Yesterday, I cleaned out the fridge and pantry, and I have a box of food to take to my niece. I’m keeping very little food in the house, so if I want something unhealthy, I will have to leave my home and get it! 😀 Today, I have to go to the health department and see about getting Joe’s death certificate so I can get going on the business side of his passing. And at 8:30 pm last night, Joe’s remains came home. I placed the beautiful rosewood urn on his nightstand and felt oddly comforted as I spoke to him. OK, I gotta get going. Have a great day! 🙂

    Hi 👋

Is anyone else having trouble with the app? My friends lists is all messed up and when I try to access the community, it just says "community is unavailable at this time". I have updated, cleared the cache, uninstall and reinstall. It's been doing this since yesterday. It's irritating!!!

Does anyone know how to make a low carb pizza crust that tastes good? I tried using a CauliPower crust (just the crust) and adding my own sauce & toppings, but Rich still got a glucose spike from that. I think it must be the binders and fillers they use to turn the cauliflower into a pizza crust. I've tried using a high fiber flour (from Fiber Gourmet), but Rich still gets a glucose spike. I tried making him a pizza using a portabello mushroom cap as the crust, and put sauce and toppings - but he says that is NOT pizza. It's got to be a crust; and I can't figure out how to make a crust that is low-carb enough to keep his blood glucose steady.

@19shmoo69 – Hahahaha! Your wife is awesome!

@trooworld – You are on the Halloween card list, my friend! Yes – chili is freaking SCRUMDIDDLYUMPTIOUS on days 2 and 3! Yes, it is definitely difficult saying no to free food.

@TeresaW2024 – Yes, I need edification. I haven’t in the past 4 years, unless it was a visiting pastor. Yes, I will absolutely take my mother on another fall color tour in a few weeks. Probably not 2 hours away, tho. There’s plenty of scenic drives here in SW Michigan. That’s smart to get the unhealthy food out of the house. I hope you were able to get the death certificates today. A rosewood urn sounds beautiful.

@DrewsAnna – The app was messing up on me last night. I just checked it and it’s working fine now (5:30pm EST).

@micaroo4 – Sorry I don’t have any suggestions for the pizza crust, but LOL with Rich’s response to the mushroom one hahahaha

Today was my remote work day. I have been so productive! Job finished, dishes washed and put away, made tofu scramble for lunch (even added spinach to it), my grandmother’s minestrone just finished simmering for an hour (house smells divine) and also made a chickpea tuna salad. Tried a vegan fish sauce that Hunter found. It’s not very strong at all (good thing). Turned out pretty good. I’ll have a bowl of soup and half a sandwich for supper.

Today is the last day for my popcorn bucket refills at the theater. I have decided that I will NOT buy another one when they release them in a month. Instead, I’m going to do what I used to do…pop 2 of my 100 calorie packs (kettle corn) and sneak them in 😊 If they can’t offer any healthy options, then it’s their own fault. Besides, I still buy a medium drink every time, so they’re getting $6.14 from me with each movie.

Off to do some card making! Offer still stands for a Halloween card! You just gotta let me know!

    Stay hydrated, my friends!

PSST!!!! @trooworld Java Juice is another way of saying coffee.

I, Darren, being of sound mind do affirm that I agree with @vegan4lyfe2012 that my wife is awesome.

@Cornanda youre making me delve into the personal side of myself. This next interest might be TMI. In fact I’m a bit nervous as I’m typing it out. My heart is racing and I feel a little blush. Please forgive me if it’s too risqué.

Interest #4 I collect coffee pots. French presses, Moka pots, pour overs, percolators and such.

Do I dare give another interest?

@micaroo4 Have you tried Fathead dough ? I used to make it and really liked it. https://www.heyketomama.com/fathead-dough-best-keto-pizza-crust/

@vegan4lyfe2012 That is a good idea to forgo the popcorn bucket and smuggle your own healthier options in. 🙂 I hope I get a spooky card!!! 😉🐈‍⬛🎃

@19shmoo69 I’m on pins and needles awaiting your next interest! 😀So, what is the best way to make the perfect cup of coffee? Joe and I used to do a lot of French presses back when I worked at Starbucks and got free coffee. 👍

@trooworld I do the same at church potlucks and will only go for the homemade or something I know will be worth it. I’ve rarely found store-bought baked goods worth the calories, and yet we will still eat them. We must stop the madness!!! 😜

Good morning! I obtained the death certificate yesterday and began checking items off my to-do list. It's all very depressing, but must be done. 😕 My sister and I had our pizza and beer splurge night last night and watched Only Murders in the Building. It’s such a great show! Today, my bestie is coming for coffee, so that will be a good afternoon distraction. I’m off to work out. Have a great day! 🙂

    Hi 👋

    The app is working again.

Happy October, Pre-Christmas (birthdays) has started (actually started in September) and my birthday is in 2 weeks. I'm going to be the big "6-0" 😳😲

I didn't do too good with my habits yesterday. Actually, I didn't really accomplish much of anything.

    Habit Tracker Wednesday

    1. Weigh, measure, log all food. ✔️

    2. Journal every night. ✔️

    3. Walk 1,000 steps or more after dinner. ✖️

    4. Protein goal 100-110 gr. over

    5. Fiber goal 25 gr under

    6. Quit Royal Kingdom!!!! Failed miserably

I'm adding 2 veggies per day and removing Royal Kingdom, I only play it in the evenings anyway.

    Y'all have a great day 😀
