@trooworld Happy October 2nd, I think it is also National Coffee Day! @vegan4lyfe2012 is there even a national tea day? No probably not. What was I thinking? 🤪 @TeresaW2024 coffee brewing actually differs from person to person. I can throw hints to assist. But first some unknown facts different grinds are for different brewing types. When using most coffee makers it’s 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup brewed. Uniquely a coffee cup (as per coffee pot) is 6oz not 8oz like most think. So technically 10 tablespoons should be used for a pot of coffee. That’s a bit much for even me. The hint I can give for making coffee in a coffeemaker is add an extra scoop. Most people even me use 5 scoops or tablespoons. So add a sixth scoop or tablespoon. It’ll change the flavor profile. For all my ice coffee drinkers proper coffee starts steeping at 201 degrees Fahrenheit. Random factoid, I saw an actual cold brew station. I can’t describe what it looks like but it’s next level brewing. If you can’t tell, I can talk coffee all day. On to interest #5 ( I think. I’ve lost count) I like cafe style coffee cups. I know every hot beverage drinker has their favorite cup. I bet @Cornanda even has one. Most people like the color, weight, feel of the handle, saying in the side or because it was a gift. Rarely does anyone think of the sippability of the cup. Cafe cups carry this mantle. Hopefully I can post a picture to show the difference. The Minnesota cup is ok, I like it because it’s a gift. The gray is nice looking but it’s terrible to drink out of. The third is a cafe cups carry. The only flaw is its size. I drink mass quantity coffee. But the edge of the cup allows proper aeration during the sip.

This was a bit lengthy so I’m going to blame @micaroo4 because she’s innocent and I’m not going to blame myself.
What do you think? Could there be another interest in the background?

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I tried to get on with the app a few days ago and the community was down, hope that isn't a new issue here.

@micaroo4 Funny I thought of this with the easy healthy meal/snack then saw your question, if Rich is ok with thin crust would he be willing to put it on a Mission low carb tortilla? I do that for low calorie pizzas. Two keto things that went through my head was making pizza zucchini boats or a chicken crust, maybe @19shmoo69 has tried a chicken or cheese crust? @TeresaW2024 @trooworld I completely forgot about Fathead dough thanks for posting that, I just pinned it so I can try it.

Fast healthy snack/meal- I'll make low cal pizza with a Mission Carb Balance tortilla, adding kalamata olives and Trader Joe's sweet and spicy jalapenos even with some pepperoni gives a lot of flavor. Yogurt with fruit is another fav. Been having Almond butter with apples which can be dangerous if not watching the amount of butter!

Hi gang! Sorry for being MIA, my roommate moved back in and isn't working right now so we've been hanging out though I've been busy at nights, only been home for dinner one night this week which is making me very grateful to have friends and family who want to celebrate with me (ten years ago I didn't have local friends so I'm extremely grateful for the ones I've made). I caved and accepted three more kittens, they're from the same house (man ended up with all the strays) as my last seven fosters and only two out of three were going to go to a foster home. I have a friend interested in a black cat and that was the one being left behind so I offered to keep the three together here and she's coming by Saturday to meet her (kittens are 5 months and just getting surgery next Wednesday so they're big and not up for adoption yet). I still don't have the last foster from my previous group adopted, he's doing well with my two cats and I'm leaning toward keeping him if I can get Jasper to stop his alpha dominance stuff ( @FushiaKat or anyone else with multiple cats any advice?) Diet's been a hot mess this week, I only fit in a few pairs of pants right now but feel like I'm getting on track as I've been cleaning it up too and Renee being here helps as she's trying to eat better too.

@micaroo4 I have my date on the calendar as the 11th to cover for you, is that still on? Sorry for not getting my weigh in last week, I figured I'd let it go as I didn't want you to have to go to the old spreadsheet.

Hi, I ate after dinner the last two days, so today is a restart for day 1. I am officially done eating for the day.

The GREAT news is that Frank and I went to a super fun (and gigantic) corn maze in central Wisconsin and I got over 10,000 steps during about 3 hours of walking!

@19shmoo69 Thank you! Very educational. I used to love conducting coffee and food pairing taste tests at Starbucks, so we could educate customers on what would pair best. I personally think most coffees taste amazing with their lemon loaf. Except maybe Sumatra, which tastes like dirt. Good dirt, but dirt nonetheless. 😁 I also have a favorite mug! For me, it’s all about the handle and the weight of the cup, but yeah, sippability is an important factor. No one wants a bad sip! 🫨

@Katmary71 Oh that is good news that your roommate moved back in! It’s nice to have someone to share meals and time with. What does she think of life with kitties in the house? Yeah, fitting back into pants is one of my goals too. Let’s get on with it! 🙂

@Cornanda, you should totally take measurements to see if it’s muscle you have been putting on. 🙂

@trooworld Woot on your great loss this week! Have you been rollerskating lately? What are your fun weekend plans? 🙂

Good morning! Not much is going on today. I’m still trying to figure out what my days are supposed to look like now that I'm the only person I need to worry about. I do have some church work to do today, and I really need to start planning Joe’s memorial service. The pastor is coming over next week to discuss the plan, so I'd better get one together. I have decided to host a dessert reception instead of a full meal afterward. This will allow me to spend time with those who attend the service, while still having some time to hang out with Joe’s two sons before they fly home the next day. OK, I’m off to work out. Have a good day! 🙂

@trooworld – I agree that store-bought just isn’t worth it. Good tip to go with “to-die-for” only foods. I have a gorgeous eggplant I picked up at the farm stand. Spam me with a few good main-meal recipes, please!

@TeresaW2024 – Continuing to keep you in my prayers. Hugs ☹ I have you on my Halloween card list 😊

@baodell17724 – Thanks for the casseroles link – found a couple I can easily veganize 😊

@19shmoo69 – For your information, Mr. Darren, I get to celebrate both National Tea Day on April 21st and International Tea Day on May 21st 😊 So there. I totally agree with sipability of cups. Currently my favorite style are latte mugs. They fit perfectly when cupped in both hands. Picture below of my 2 faves – I love the Club one when I’m drinking spicy chais and the flower one when I’m drinking something lighter. Of course, I have way too many mugs cuz I try to match them with the type of tea I’m drinking for my review photos. But this shape is my fave.

@Katmary71 – I’m so glad you and Renee are able to spend time together. But also hope she’s able to find a job quickly! Give all those precious kitties hugs and nuzzles from me!

@bobboyardee – I love corn mazes! Too bad I get lost in them LOLs Awesome step count! You are on my Halloween card list, too!

Had another productive day yesterday. Oliver and I went down to my now “old church” and picked up my mother’s chair. Hoping to meet up with the woman at the new church tomorrow morning so it’s in place and ready to go on Sunday morning. I also sent messages to my old church peeps letting them know I couldn’t do the 1 hour drive each way any more and to not wonder what happened when they see my mom’s chair missing on Sunday. Things are looking up and I’m feeling good. Driving in to work this morning, a thought popped into my head. A friend had told me this little acronym a few years back and thought I’d share with you all (although I think I may already have). Before I eat, H.A.L.T. and ask myself: am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? If so, deal with that state before putting food in my mouth.

    Have an awesome Friday!!!

@DrewsAnna - I kept getting "community is unavailable" message this week too. Those are some great habits and your doing well. Keep on trackin!

@19shmoo69 - “A day without coffee is like… just kidding, I have no idea.”

@baodell17724 – Thank you for the casseroles link. I added the Skillet spinach, mushroom and wild rice to my recipe collection.

@FushiaKat - I can't believe October is here already. How are you doing on your Halloween contest room? Are you doing one again this year? I was impressed with how detailed you get with them. Would love to see your new one, if you decided to do one.

@Katmary71 - Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you enjoyed it with friends. I occasionally eat peanut butter and apple for breakfast. I know what you mean about watching how much peanut butter I use. Two tablespoons is 190 calories, so I don't want to over do it.

@trooworld - I heard that advice before, about asking myself if it's store-bought, homemade, or to-die-for and choosing homemade or to-die-for foods. Thanks for the reminder.

@TeresaW2024 - I like the three bite rule. I'll need to remember to use that one. I love your picture puzzle too.

@Cornanda - When I hit a plateau, I had to evaluate my eating plans too. I would definitely take some measurements. When I feel I'm making progress, I feel more motivated.

@vegan4lyfe2012 - I would like to receive one of your Halloween cards, if it's not too much trouble.

@bobboyardee – I was just in central Wisconsin too. Great job on getting all those steps in.

My husband said we needed a vacation. Monday morning, I packed our bags and we traveled about 4 and a half hours North into Wisconsin. We found a quiet lakefront resort on Lake Delton. Our room had a fully-equipped kitchen, and a private balcony with a beautiful lake view. The first thing we did was grab some groceries to prepare some of our meals in the room. It helped us save $$ and eat healthy too. I didn't realize when I booked the resort that there was no gym. So instead of a morning workout, I relied on getting fitness from other activities. I enjoyed using the indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, and dry sauna. It also had a private sand beach where we enjoyed activities like paddle boarding, and casting our fishing line at the end of the pier. We did a lot of fishing. I would have like to do more hiking, but don't get me wrong, I enjoy fishing.

@trooworld @TeresaW2024 - thank you for steering me in the direction of Fathead dough. I tried it today, using mozzerella cheese, butter, almond flour and baking powder. No egg, because I want a thin and crispy crust and I was afraid the egg would make it poof like puff pastry. I prebaked it on a pizza pan. When Rich gets home tonight, I'll add tomato sauce and some cheese for a topping, and we'll do the final bake and give it a try.

@vegan4lyfe2012 - I drink my tea from something that is very nearly a tankard. It holds at least 20 ounces, and if I fill it to the rim it would hold 24 ounces. I used to have a cup that I loved, but I broke it. My current cup is a poor stand in for the original, but I can't find the woman who made the first one.

Today’s interest is more of a memory. Starting a decade ago at separate times I asked my children what they wanted to do when they grow up? Each one wanted to start a local coffee shop. The interest is I would like for all or one of them to be able to do that.

@trooworld - Congrats on your loss and breaking 80 pounds! Great work!

@vegan4lyfe2012 - HALT is a good acronym. I was in a program once that advised putting a stop sign on the fridge or pantry or wherever you like to grab snacks from. Anything to make the brain take a pause. Your tea cups are cute!

@DrewsAnna - in the app, my weights are still upside down, meaning I have to scroll through 12 years of weights to find last week's weight. It used to be that last week's weight was on top. I'm annoyed

@Veta2018 - sounds like a lovely vacation- that's a huge fish you caught!

@micaroo4 - how did the pizza turn out?

@19shmoo69 - is your cafe cup Corelle? My SIL likes china cups with a thin rim. It's so interesting all the different choices there are.

It is interesting how the brain works. Or doesn't work. I had thought that I was stuck at this weight since my trip in Aug. But no, I actually lost 3 pounds in Aug. I don't know why that helps, but it does. Nothing much on the agenda this weekend except getting some things done around here. It might be rainy, which is OK with me as long as I get my weekend walks in.

@vegan4lyfe2012 I like the H.A.L.T plan! I don’t know how many times I will end up with food in my mouth and no idea why I thought I needed it, when I had no hunger. I love your mugs!! 😍

@Veta2018 What a fun time you and your husband had. You look great on that paddleboard! And what a big fish! 😀

@micaroo4 I can’t wait to hear how Rich liked the Fathead dough! I haven’t made it for a very long time, and now I’m craving it. 🙂

@Cornada, I’m glad you found your lost 3 lbs so you could celebrate how great you are doing! 😀

@trooworld What a nice treat to run into your SIL and spend some fun time together. I hope you were able to ward off a migraine so you can enjoy your day. 🙂

Good morning! I’m starting to enjoy my lazy mornings as I adjust to the fact that I don’t need to hurry and get things done, like I used to when I had to take care of Joe. My time is my own, whether I like it or not. 😕 Today, the girls will be coming over, and Elena has requested tacos instead of our usual pancakes. Works for me! OK, I guess I will work out and get that over with. Have a good day! 🙂

    Good morning Slims,

We are home from our little camping trip. the bluegrass festival was great. We hung out with my friend from childhood, her DH and meet some new friends. We then stay at Dinosaur Valley State Park. We got in a few hikes and sites It was a really nice relaxing weekend for my Birthday. Tonight is the last of the celebration as we are having dinner with my childhood friends. Tomorrow I will get back on track. I have about 2 weeks until our next trip which is to Florida. I spent this morning catching up on everyone's posts (all 91) as I was not able to get on here during my stay at the state park. I have a busy weekend ahead with cleaning up the RV and getting laundry done. Here are a few pics from the State park

had a bad day yesterday - also having a rough evening

ordered food and they got the order completely wrong. it's still edible, no meat in it - but they made me a sub sandwich and forgot the dressing? so i just have a bunch of lettuce and tomato in a dry roll? absolutely strange.

just makes me angry that I have to pay $15 for the wrong thing.
