Weekends are sometimes easier since I have more time to get my steps in and not tied to my desk all day. Wednesday was similar in that I had to leave work early for car service so I was able to get home earlier and walk the dogs. Still struggling to meet my goal regularly which is a huge change for me. I've already modified my goal down once (used to regularly hit 12k steps every day). It's a process but I'm working on it!

@ashleyh2100 It is difficult to get steps in during the workday. My coworkers and I used to walk around the buildings when we went on break when we worked in the office. Besides helping us get exercise, it kept us from eating during breaks. I know some people get a standing desk or a little exercise bicycle they can use while working.

Celebrated a friend's birthday yesterday and overdid the eating. I ended up with terrible heartburn at bedtime. I'm going to eat lighter today for sure.

@Misty_Putnam94 I asked Gemini AI for a list of tips for how to manage the holidays and the list is pretty good. I am still going to try to lose weight but forgive myself if I just maintain.
Holiday Weight Loss Maintenance Strategies
🍽️ Eating & Moderation
- Shift Goals: Focus on maintenance (staying the same weight) rather than weight loss during the busiest weeks.
- Don't Skip Meals: Eat a light, protein-rich snack before a party to prevent extreme hunger and overeating.
- Survey First: Look at all the available food before filling your plate.
- Choose Favorites: Select small portions of 1-2 items you truly crave; skip the everyday items.
- Fill Half Your Plate: Prioritize non-starchy vegetables, salads, and lean protein first.
- Eat Mindfully: Eat slowly, savor each bite, and put your fork down between mouthfuls.
- Stop When Satisfied: Aim to stop eating when you feel satisfied, not uncomfortably stuffed.
- Control Portions: Use a smaller plate and wait 20-30 minutes before considering a second helping.
💧 Beverages & Hydration
- Be Mindful of Drinks: Liquid calories (sodas, eggnog, alcohol) add up fast.
- Limit Alcohol: Alternate each alcoholic drink with a full glass of water or seltzer.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, as thirst can sometimes feel like hunger.
🏃 Lifestyle & Activity
- Keep Moving: Maintain your regular exercise routine, even if it's shorter sessions.
- Walk Daily: Aim for at least a 15-30 minute brisk walk, especially after a large meal.
- Prioritize Sleep: Get quality rest to help regulate hunger hormones.
- Manage Stress: Find non-food ways to cope with holiday stress (meditate, listen to music).
💡 Social & Planning
- Bring a Healthy Dish: Offer to bring a healthy appetizer or side dish to a gathering.
- Socialize Away from Food: Position yourself across the room from the buffet table to prevent mindless grazing.
- Let Go of Guilt: If you overindulge in one meal, forgive yourself and immediately get back on track with your next meal and routine.
I can also provide those healthy ingredient swaps for popular holiday recipes if you'd like to make some adjustments to your cooking this year.

@ShockinglyFit, my uncle didn't pass away, must be someone else who posted that.

@virgoreader Ugh. I meant to say to you that I hate heartburn and hope you are feeling better now. This scrolling up and down is difficult for me.
@gillis1118 Sorry to hear about your uncle's passing. May he rest in peace.
@inshapeCK congrats on being our team winner last week!
