Are you looking to get faster? PR, BQ or more?

Was looking for a fast time, but priority has changed and just a steady fun day is the goal for my April run.

I'm enjoying seeing how fast I can get given the amount of time I am able to dedicate to running. On occasion I think about going beyond marathon distance, but I'm more likely to just try and get faster at marathon distance & less. I think it would be fun to get in good shape and blast out a half to see what I got.
  • My first marathon is in Feb. I'm a former college athlete (swimmer), so while my ultimate goal is to be able to jog the whole thing, who wants to be slow??
Speed would be good. PLUS, I do know that some speed training is important for even distance athletes, so you can't go wrong!

Yep, I wanna BQ! (Boston Qualify) this the first time I have said this publicly.
I think it'll take me several years to do it, but I want it!

I loves me some speedwork! I'm hoping to cut my half time by 10-15 minutes in January.

If I keep at it long enough, my advancing age and diminishing time may catch up to each other and eventually get me a BQ  I turn 40 next year so it will take a few years LOL!

Do you think if you run those times you will qualify for Boston 2013? I just ran 3:34:56 a month ago and am 31!

Is it bad that I have no desire to BQ? I just want to beat my own time each time I race. Maybe that will change once I get faster. I'm just focused on finishing right now.

That's not bad at all. The beauty of the sport is we compete against ourselves.
