Jack Kruse - Leptin Reset

I finally got around to reading a couple of large threads on the Marksdailyapple.com forums about leptin reset and have looked at the Jack Kruse website. A lot of the information makes sense to me, and I guess the proof will be in the outcome if I am able to stick to it.

It's probably a bad time to start something like this just prior to Christmas, but then I suspect there will never be a good time to start, so it may as well be now.

Just wondering if anyone has done this? How did you find it?

i also found info on this on MDA and just random searching. i'm interested in doing it also, but know that I'm just setting myself up for failure if I start around christmas. It takes 6 to 8 weeks of pure dedication, and I know I couldn't be strict under 50 carbs around the holidays. Until January though, I am experimenting with the large breakfasts to stay fuller longer and trying to eat pretty paleo.

I'm excited you find this information interesting too. I can't wait to start the experiment on myself, the forum on MDA was very positive.

Well, now I need to keep reading to learn what this is. I think I could do under 50g carbs...I'm close now.

I've committed December to Primal and so far it's going quite well. I do a weigh in tomorrow morning that I think will finally show some loss. It's been 2 months at the same freakin; weight! Each day this week it's been down...I hope tomorrow is as well.

Claire hope your weigh in went well. But if you have a stay the same, make sure you take note of measurements more often than not, measurements may reduce while the scales do not.

I am on day 3 of the leptin reset, it is actually not that hard to do...the hardest thing is making sure the timing of meals and being organised for the morning, to make sure eaten within 30minutes of rising. I haven't been tempted with going out for a meal yet, but when that does happen, I will manage the best I can with grilled something along with steamed veges!!

I am on <25gms of carbs as I have more than 30lb to lose.

I haven't been on the scales, I will do that at on Friday.

I did indeed do a Leptin Reset. A few things you may want to note.

Many, including myself, do not lose weight during the reset. This is hard because you think you are doing so well, but nothing.

Jack Kruse is not the only one with a Leptin Reset Protocol. There are others out there. And everyone of them is slightly different. So I took, what looked to me to be the 5 most common components and stuck to those like glue, no deviation, for almost 4 weeks. And in that time, the symptoms that pushed me to start the reset were gone (except the weight). Note that there are symptoms to being Leptin Resistant, and you should check to see what they are, if you have them and then take note so that you will know when your reset is over.

just fyi, here are my 5 rules...

RULE 1: Keep 3 hours before bedtime food free
RULE 2: Eat 3 meals a day, no snacks, 4 to 6 hours between each meal, Primally
RULE 3 : Eat to satisfaction, not stuffed
RULE 4: Eat a high protein breakfast soon after arising-trying to get at least 50g protein within the 30 mins. after waking up
RULE 5: Carbs between 25 and 50, from veggies

I actually stick fairly closely to this still, just not strictly as I did while trying to reset.

As I said, I did not lose any weight during the reset, but did start losing afterward, but I also switched to a program called "SPEED: Evidence Based Weight Loss" and so not sure which, or maybe the combo, got the weight loss going.

    Good Luck

Thanks! It did go surprisingly well...3.6 lbs down in 9 days. Finally!

Demuralist, thank you so much for that, all useful and with some good reminders. A good reminder regarding the weight loss. May I ask a question? I am not sure I understand the concept of sweating? I assume it means that if sweating a lot = good? And if the reset is kicking in, I should be sweating a lot?

I am getting better at being organised for breakfast - using the slow cooker overnight.

Missyyclaire, well done, shows what can be done with perserverence!
