I've been reading a lot of posts tonight on the general Message Board and there's so many people who have weaknesses to different stimuli (junk food, non-activity during the day, lack of motivation).

One thing you might have control over is the junk food supply. If at all possible, throw away or give away your junk food stash, or whatever food makes you loose your self-control. Out of site, out of mind.

If it's not in reach, most likely, you won't think about it and hopefully, you won't go out of your way to get it.

This is probably difficult for people who have kids or room with others, but it's possible. Never say die (okay, a little over the top, but, you get the idea - don't give up on trying new ways to help yourself.)

Good luck everyone~

I really like this idea! I have found that if I don't know we have cookies or ice cream in the house that I won't crave it. Recently I have started asking my mom to tell me if we have salads or fruit in the house for snacks rather than if she got cookies and where she put them!

It is very difficult for me... I have 3 kids, 9yrs, 4yrs and 2yrs and my 4 and 9 yr olds need snacks for school. But kids don't always like to eat the healthiest, but my husbands a trucker, so I struggle making food choices for the 4 of us til my husband gets home, where I can make a real meal. I'm doing better, I've been working on this for 4 yrs now, but still complicated. The good thing is my kids like to be active and like working out!!!

I did this a couple months ago. The other night I was craving chocolate but there wasn't any in the house, can't binge on what isn't there!

Yep, I can really relate to that life style.

I have four kids, five if you count the husband. Here's my deal - we don't allow soda in the house, although I grew up on Coke (the soda, of course). I stopped drinking soda around 15 years ago and as soon as I did, I lost 5 lbs that month. I have an occasional soda but no more than probably 7 per year, if that.

The snacks, we have them, too, lots of them, but we limit the kids - they have to ask for them each time, even the teenagers (err, especially the teenagers). My thought and my husband's thoughts are, we are the parents and can make the rules. We may not be with them all the time, but in our house, we can control what they eat.

Now, my mother, unfortunately, is different about it. She's awful in enforcing healthy eating choices and she watches them sometimes. Has coke and sprite all the time.

You have the power to control their diet somewhat, and the rest, you have to hope they make good choices on their own. I can't speak for husbands. Mine is out of control, too, with his terrible eating habits.

Thank you!!! It just gets over whelming some days and I give in, then I can't just give in to 1 so it spirals... I gave up pop for a while ago, but then I buy it, then it's like I need it again. I can live w/o it tho, before I had headaches, but they went away. For sweets, I try to not buy too many but I need my chocolate, I won't give that up. I buy small amounts, and that will last a while. I have been trying to buy more fruits and veggies, but that gets so expensive!!! But thank you for putting a positive spin on things.

    Anytime (you're very welcome).

Life is too short and karma sucks, so it's best to keep it positive!
