Is anyone planning on running the Fairfield 5K or half marathon? I just signed up with Team in Training. I am super excited.

    no i wasn't but i grew up in fairfield and always wanted to do one down there. when are they??

    The 5K is on June 23rd and the half marathon is on the 24th.

    hmm would you be doing the 5k or the half? I want to do a 5k in the spring / summer... and I definitely need a goal to get myself running again.

    I'm doing the half. Initially I had planned to do the 5K but then realized that I already do about 3 miles per day now so it wouldn't be a real challenge for me.

    starbucksbuzz, there are a lot of 5ks around wallingford area. there is one in middletown that i did last year-really great track. it starts at xavier high school.

    i was thinking about doing that one as well....so many races, so little time!

    dancingnancies I'd be up for the 5k in middletown in the spring if i had someone to do it with... I've never raced before so I'd be nervous doing it alone, haha. Dumb, I know...

    I did some sprints in high school over 20 years ago but have not run since and certainly not distance but am willing to try. Anyone doing the 5K in June at Bushnell Park in Hartford; Komen Race for the Cure?

    Keep us all aware of the big day... maybe we can come and support you and anyone else that is running.

    I am planning on running a 5K in late May in Mass... and until I see how my knees respond.... I'll take it 1 5k at a time.

    Fairfield half is on June 24th but I'm doing the Savin Rock 5k next weekend, March 24th (yikes)!

    I just started week 2 of C25K. I'm definitely not a runner and I've never done a 5k before.
    The Fairfield 5k might be a little too soon for me... Not that there is any rule against walking :) But if in a couple weeks I feel like I'm up to it I think I might register.

    I did the Fairfield half marathon! It was my first half and I loved it! Such a supportive crowd and great music along the way! It was a hot day, but they had lots of hoses and sprinklers to cool you off!

    Next mission: full marathon. Maybe sometime next year, as it took me months to train up to the half. I just started running about a year ago, though, (I did Couch to 5K) so I'm super happy with where I am now.
