Pasta!!!

I was so excited. I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and stumbled upon low carb pasta. Supposedly, this pasta only had like 4g Net carbs or something like that. So I happily throw it in my cart and go home. I miss spaghetti! As I am driving home, I start thinking that its too good to be true. I check on MFP and search the forums for the brand name and just as I thought - too good to be true. I was so bummed. No spaghetti for me.
Is there a such thing as low carb noodles? How about bread?? I tried making some MIIM's but they were a super fail. LOL

I find it is really the topping, not the pasta itself, that I miss the most. Try this recipe and tell me what you think:

Also, here are some "bread" recipes but to be honest, nothing replaces bread. I just treat myself about once a month to a roll.

However, there are some very yummy low carb dessert cookies, cakes, etc. that totally make me forget bread and pasta ever existed so just search online for some low-carb recipes and get in the chicken!
By the way, I tried to chocolate peanut butter low carb MIM this morning and it was pretty good but it needed sugar-free grape jelly.0 -
I use spaghetti squash. It's not exactly pasta, but with the toppings, it's pretty close.0

There are two low carb "pastas" (there may be more) that are truly low carb. House foods' tofu shirataki noodles and Pasta Slim's spinach fetticunni noodles. I actually like the pasta slim ones better. I don't have a package in front of me, but they are like 2 net carbs per serving and there's 2 servings per bag.
I was put off by the word "tofu" or "soy" but these take on whatever sauce you use and the possibilities are endless.0 -
If you are talking about dreamfields it seems to vary from person to person. I am extrememly carbohydrate intolerant and I can eat dreamfields with minimal blood sugar spike. Nothing even close to what it would be with a regular pasta. I do know that if I consume it often though it will throw me out of ketosis. I usually reserve it for when it's my night to cook for my bible study group. They don't seem to be able to get through a meal without a potato, pasta or bread so this is my compromise.0

I don't know what your carb level is but Carba-Nada makes a really good reduced carb fettuccine in several flavors (egg, lemon pepper, basil). I think it's a net 18 grams per serving or so. It's wonderful on a splurge night. You can find it online at Netrition and probably other sites as well.0

Like I mentioned in another thread you created, avoid them... seriously consider avoiding them.
Consider trying shirataki noodles or tofu shirataki noodles. You have to be good about rinsing them in hot water and drain well. They are definitely worth it to try.
Also - spaghetti squash is a GREAT alternative. Its cheap, easy to bake and scrape with a fork. I just bought 10lbs yesterday actually. Cant wait to bake some of it up!
I also make faux noodles out of fresh zucchini and summer squash. A nice sautee in butter, fresh gahhhhhlic and herbs and homemade marinara, some chicken and vegetables and its a great dish, full of fiber, real nutrients and made with only fresh ingredients. Its extremely healthy and filling too.0 -

I make 2 batches of Revolution Rolls every sunday and have sandwiches almost every day. Turkey club, peanut butter-cream cheese-berry, tuna salad, cheese, hamburgers.

No it's not bread but it's as convenient as bread and it's not full of whacky ingredients like you find in low-carb wraps. And they're much cheaper.
I add the protein powder as mentioned in the above link and bake them in "muffin top" pans: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13145911
The pans are the best low-carb investment i've ever made!0
